00:00Italy is currently witnessing the rise of identity-based parties and narratives
00:06that did conflict with the popes. How do they view his death?
00:12Well, again, I think that the death of the pope is a unifying moment. Also for political antagonists
00:22and for political protagonists, we all feel the same sorrow in losing a moral and religious authority.
00:32Pope Francis has been probably the first pope of globalization, a pope of everybody, believers and not.
00:41So I wouldn't really think that there would be any sort of change or different approaches in dealing
00:48with his absence now. It is true that polarization is growing into political phenomena and this is
00:55not only in Italy, but polarization is growing because society is getting more and more pluralistic
01:01with different stances staying together. So, of course, polarization is never a good thing
01:08for good politics. We have to struggle against them. But at the same time, we need to take
01:14uh, into consideration and accept the fact that societies are growing more and more plural.
