26 april - National weather forecast presented by Jonathan Vautrey.
Transcript
00:00Hello there, a very good afternoon. Many of us are getting away with a dry weekend, though it has started on a damp note for some out in the west.
00:08We can see where this band of rain has been first thing this morning, but you can also tell that it is weakening as the morning's gone on.
00:16So increasingly as we head into the afternoon as well, the theme is for this rain to be easing, with generally some light showers and patchy outbreaks for a few locations.
00:24There will be some brightness and sunshine developing, particularly for the far east of England, but also the best of the sunshine perhaps reserved for areas of Northern Ireland as we head into the afternoon.
00:34In that sunshine, it will be feeling pleasantly warm, temperatures generally around 14 to 19 degrees Celsius, touching on the doors of that 20 degree mark across parts of the south and east.
00:44Whilst our first rain band is easing, we do have another one that's going to be arriving into the northwest later on this evening, and this one's going to be bringing some more heavier and perhaps poor persistent outbreaks as we head on to the overnight period, particularly for western areas of Scotland.
01:00And it's going to be quite windy in amongst all of this as well, near gale strength and gusts around some coastal districts.
01:05A dry night to come for England and Wales, and underneath some of the clearer skies we could see temperatures dropping down to mid, perhaps low single figures in places.
01:13So a touch of patchy grass frost is possible first thing on Sunday morning.
01:17There will also be some mist and fog patches around, again, particularly for England and Wales, so a bit misty and murky in places.
01:24But there will be clearing as the day goes on, and there will be plentiful amounts of sunshine developing for the Manchester and London Marathon if you are running.
01:32Always a cloudy affair for Northern Ireland and Scotland, particularly the rain quite persistent for some western areas of Scotland.
01:38And it's going to be quite a breezy day across the northern half of the UK.
01:41Temperatures low for all of us now climbing above average for the time of year, 18 across parts of the north, but now reaching that threshold of 20 degrees Celsius across England and Wales,
01:54with highs of maybe 22, 23 degrees Celsius in places.
01:58So rather warm if you are out in those sunny air breaks.
02:01The rain across the north will continue its way northwards as we head later on into Sunday and eventually clear off into the start of Monday as well.
02:10The weather fronts associated with it will be clearing off towards the north and allowing this area of high pressure to build in more widely across the UK.
02:18And with warm air in play across all areas of the UK into next week, temperatures are going to be climbing with plentiful amounts of sunshine.
02:25So mid to high 20s are certainly possible as we head towards the middle part of next week.
02:31But we'll have plenty more updates on how high those temperatures will be going across our YouTube channel.
02:36So do subscribe for all the latest updates and we'll see you again here later on.
02:40Bye bye.
