00:00Some big doings in Major League Baseball today,
00:02which includes the West Coast, Joe Ranieri.
00:04If you're up late watching round number two,
00:06why not tune in to rotation 961-962?
00:10That's the Pittsburgh Pirates taking on the Los Angeles Dodgers.
00:13A 10-10 start out in Chavez Ravine.
00:16The Pittsburgh Pirates throwing their ace, Paul Skeens,
00:18against Yamamoto, maybe an ace there for the Dodgers.
00:22Look at this price point, Joe.
00:24Opened up at minus 215 with Skeens on the mound.
00:27You would think he might be a favorite.
00:28He's not.
00:29He's the dog.
00:30It's even higher right now at a minus 225 price for those Dodgers
00:34and a total of seven.
00:35But by the way, looking at statistics,
00:38Yamamoto's XFIP coming into today on the season, a 1.81.
00:42Phenomenal.
00:43Paul Skeens coming in at a 2.59.
00:45Really good here.
00:46Seven runs.
00:47I don't know if we get there, but in your mind,
00:49are we overrating this matchup or is it just, hey, Pittsburgh,
00:52I don't think you can get very many base hits tonight.
00:55Well, I mean, they just came off of what?
00:58A extra inning loss last night to the Angels,
01:01but they did win the series finally, Pittsburgh, which is great.
01:05They look like they finally started to hit the ball,
01:08but now you got to take a short, what,
01:11bus ride there to go to Chesra Dean and take on the Dodgers,
01:16which let's be realistic.
01:17This is a totally different,
01:18totally different animal that they're going to be walking into.
01:22And as good as Skeens is, we've seen that, yeah,
01:26he's not going to,
01:27tends not to get the run support against better teams that he might
01:32against a team like the Angels.
01:34So Yamamoto, to your point,
01:36has been absolutely lights out here.
01:39And the bullpen of the Dodgers has also been great.
01:43So where are the runs coming from in this game is my question,
01:47because Pittsburgh's bullpen has actually been pretty decent over the
01:51last month here, Donnie.
01:52So to me, it's a dead under in this game.
01:55Good luck trying to figure out where the runs are coming from.
01:59Exactly.
01:59Both pitchers in really good form.
02:01Pitchers ballpark tonight.
02:02And also you take a look from a Pittsburgh perspective.
02:05I don't trust,
02:06like it's not that I don't trust the bullpen.
02:08I know a Skeen's probably giving me a good environment tonight.
02:10I know Yamamoto is going to do the same under three and a half first five
02:12innings where they don't get the four runs.
02:14I think makes some sense in this one.
02:15Also, if you were on Pittsburgh last night,
02:18there's a three and a half team total at a minus one 50 price,
02:20pretty expensive three runs,
02:22Joe by the end of the second inning for Pittsburgh on the road.
02:25Oh, they got this in the bag.
02:27Pittsburgh winds up with three runs in that game yesterday.
02:30Tough scene all the way through.
02:32I don't trust the bats on Pittsburgh side,
02:34which means Yamamoto is going to have a good start.
02:35And then from a Paul Skeen's perspective,
02:37I think over the first five innings,
02:38he can settle down those Dodger bats.
02:40Give me the under three and a half to start that game.
02:44Game number two,
02:44we'll take a look at let's keep it out in the state of California.
02:4610,
02:4715 start.
02:48That's Texas.
02:48That's San Francisco.
02:50Eovaldi on the mound here for the Rangers going up against Verlander,
02:53the veteran for the Giants.
02:55This line opened up as a minus one 18 price of the fan.
02:57Do sports book drop slightly to one 16,
02:59but in all effects,
03:00intents and purposes,
03:01really a pick them game.
03:03Sevens have turned into seven and a half on the total.
03:05Any thoughts out there in San Francisco,
03:08Texas and San Francisco.
03:10Yeah.
03:11Bruce,
03:11Bruce Bunch,
03:12you didn't need lead the giants to a world championship way back when too,
03:17as their manager.
03:18Now he's with the Rangers taken in and,
03:20and Verlander is 107 years old.
03:23So yeah,
03:24there's a lot of legends at this ballpark here tonight,
03:27but the Rangers bats continue to worry me here a little bit.
03:33And there is no doubt that this giants team much better offensively,
03:37I think than we've given them credit for.
03:40So I would look for the giants in this game early.
03:44I do think that the first five,
03:46not a bad look for this giants team.
03:48Who's got the rest advantage here.
03:51I,
03:52I like Verlander really at home here,
03:55starting to come into his own.
03:56I like him to limit.
03:58What is a struggling Texas lineup to begin with?
04:00Who might not have Seager again.
04:02Yep.
04:03Correct.
04:03Yeah.
04:03So it is a damaged goods lineup per se.
04:05And also take a look at Nathan Eovaldi.
04:06Pretty good start to the season though.
04:0830 and two thirds innings pitched a two 64 ERA and a two 61 XFIP number.
04:12Let's see what those runs can be seven and a half is the total.
04:15So that opening line was seven.
04:17So the betting market's adjusting and actually people betting into the over,
04:20sending that up slightly higher.
04:21Third game.
04:22We'll take a look at it.
04:22It's actually the first game on the card today.
04:24That's a struggling Philadelphia Phillies got swept out of New York.
04:27One of the hotter teams in baseball,
04:29the New York Mets.
04:30We'll see what changes.
04:31And by the way,
04:31the Cubs pretty good open to the season playing tough competition.
04:35Tyjuan Walker on the mound at a great start to the season fell off a little bit
04:38on his last start to say the least going up against the Cubs,
04:41Colin Ray,
04:42this line opened up as a slight favor towards the Cubs at minus one 26.
04:46You see the graphic here on TV minus one 30,
04:49Joe,
04:49it's actually minus one 44 now as a favor towards the Cubs and other
04:53marketplaces as high as a minus one 50 price.
04:56The total opened up at eight still sits at eight at FanDuel,
04:59but across the market,
05:00some eight and a half are starting to show cooler conditions in Chicago
05:03wind blowing in,
05:04but the Phillies just not in the right space.
05:06Same thing as last year,
05:07Joe guys on base can't drive them in a tail as old as time for the fight in
05:12Phil's.
05:13And they,
05:14they,
05:14nobody's hitting home runs for them.
05:17I mean,
05:17they have 21 home runs on the year.
05:19And I think there are eight teams that have less than that.
05:23Only eight teams that have less than that.
05:25So you're right.
05:26Donnie to your point,
05:27they get these guys on base,
05:29but they're not getting that big shot.
05:31If it's not Schwarber,
05:32who's got seven or Bryce Harper,
05:34I think he was got five.
05:36Where is everybody else?
05:37Where is bomb?
05:38Where's straight Turner?
05:39Where's,
05:39where is everybody else with the long ball here?
05:42I would have expected a little more power from this Philadelphia lineup,
05:46but you're not getting it,
05:47which is why we're kind of mired in a four game losing streak.
05:51And the Cubs though,
05:52well,
05:52the Cubs are getting the hits and they're getting the power.
05:56And offensively,
05:57I get why the market is leaning towards them here.
06:00I still like the over though,
06:02in this matchup.
06:03Yeah.
06:04I always like to say too,
06:05like,
06:05even if the wind's blowing in double digits and Wrigley,
06:07what you can't get singles and doubles in that ballpark and score runs.
06:09You're not asking for 10 and a half.
06:11It's basically eight at this point right now,
06:13but what the Phillies used to do so well was let's get guys on base.
06:16And I,
06:16well,
06:17they only score with home runs.
06:18Yeah,
06:18but he said hit a lot of home runs at this point.
06:20They're not doing that.
06:21So now it turns into,
06:22I got a lead off walk.
06:23Then I got a base hit.
06:24It's first and third one out.
06:26I strike out,
06:26I pop fly and things just aren't working in that right direction.
06:29Now a new chance for a new day for them to bounce back against the Cubs,
06:32but this isn't the old Cubs,
06:33man playing good baseball to start this season.
06:35And if we just look at the statistics today with Colin Ray,
06:3813 and two thirds innings pitched on the season,
06:40which isn't a lot,
06:41but how about a 1.32 ERA and an X whip of 3.37.
06:45Now,
06:45if the Phillies bats break out,
06:47we could see some runs.
06:47If not,
06:48is this a two to one game at this point right now?
06:51We won't know more baseball on deck.
06:53Don't you dare change that dial.
06:56Don't look now.
06:57The first pace Metropolitans here in the NLE is taking on another NL team.
07:03The Washington Nationals are just looking to get some sort of a semblance of,
07:07we play good baseball on a day-to-day basis.
07:09Got a fun young lineup in there,
07:10but today they are a decided underdog and probably rightfully.
07:13So a 645 start rotation,
07:16953,
07:17954.
07:17The Mets take on the National Senga versus Irvin.
07:21You take a look at the opening number,
07:22minus 186 here at the FanDuel Sportsbook has dropped slightly to minus 180 across the board,
07:27minus 180s,
07:28minus 175s.
07:30But the runs opened up at nine,
07:32currently now sitting at nine and a half at FanDuel,
07:34as well as a couple other outlets as well.
07:37You take a look at Senga versus Irvin.
07:39Excuse me.
07:40Senga coming into the season,
07:4220,
07:42or excuse me,
07:42in the season,
07:4322 and two-thirds innings pitched.
07:44How about an ERA of 079,
07:46but an XFIP of 4.02,
07:49which means you say,
07:50boy,
07:50he's a dominant pitcher.
07:51I can't believe that that number's high.
07:52That's why we see the nine and a half starting to creep up.
07:55Runs might be expected today,
07:57but the red hot Mets taking on the Nats here,
07:59Joe.
08:01Yeah,
08:02well,
08:02he's had some success,
08:03Senga,
08:04against this Nats team before,
08:05though,
08:06a couple of years ago.
08:08But listen,
08:09the Mets have proven at Citi Field they're going to be a tough out,
08:14right?
08:14I mean,
08:14they just swept the Cardinals.
08:15They just swept the Phillies.
08:17But there are only 500 on the road this year,
08:20six and six here.
08:21And the Nats are still in the midst of a pretty good run here.
08:25The bats are going well for them.
08:28Mackenzie Gorgias couldn't get any run support yesterday.
08:31And they were lucky if it wasn't for a home run in the fifth inning.
08:35Baltimore,
08:36that was all they needed in order to win that game.
08:38But Nats at home here,
08:40until I see it from the Mets,
08:42that success at home has to translate to the road.
08:46I think this is a tough spot for them.
08:48I do like the Nats in this one to get out early.
08:53So I'll be looking to back them at plus money in the first five.
08:56Yeah,
08:57a slightly higher XFIP number here for Senga than Irvin here.
09:00But it's pretty close,
09:013.70 to 4.02.
09:03So technically,
09:04based on analytics,
09:05you might have the better pitcher on the mound,
09:06not name wise,
09:07but it would be the Washington National Starter.
09:09But again,
09:09line up better for the Metropolitans.
09:11And also how good the Mets have been playing over the past couple of weeks.
09:14I think what,
09:15seven or eight games in a row they've won at this point.
09:18Looking to translate that even to even more.
09:20And playing an inferior opponent,
09:21maybe they can run it up to double digits.
09:23We'll find out certainly this weekend.
09:25I'll tell you one interesting game.
09:26It's Atlanta and it's Arizona.
09:28That'll take place tonight at 940 PM Eastern,
09:30959,
09:31960 on the rotation.
09:33It's Sale and Gallon.
09:34And typically you'd say to yourself like,
09:35Ooh,
09:35two aces on the mound.
09:37Not really the case this season.
09:39Zach Gallon through 27 and a third innings pitch and ERA of 5.60.
09:44Now his exit number is a little bit lower at 4.42,
09:46but then you sort of slide up and say,
09:48well,
09:48what's going on with Chris Sale?
09:5023 and a third innings pitch for him,
09:52a 6.17 ERA,
09:54but a 3.28 XFIP.
09:55So he's getting a little bit unlucky at this point,
09:57but two guys that normally lock it down,
09:59not looking so great.
10:01You look at the sides,
10:02a minus 126 favorite for the road team here.
10:04Atlanta has grown slightly to minus 134.
10:07You take a look across the board,
10:08minus 135 out there as well,
10:10a total of eight and a half to ace pitchers,
10:13not necessarily dealing this year like aces,
10:16Joe.
10:17Yeah,
10:18it's interesting too,
10:19because we all know how bad Atlanta started the season,
10:22right?
10:23Well,
10:23Arizona wasn't exactly great either,
10:26but both teams seem to have settled down a great homestand for
10:31Atlanta.
10:32I think they doubled their wins,
10:33right?
10:33They went five and one at home against the twins and against the
10:37Cardinals,
10:38but now we got to go on the road.
10:40And Zach Allen has always been a guy that was,
10:42has been better at home than he has been on the road,
10:44but he is just not,
10:46he's not missing a lot of bats so far this year,
10:49Donnie,
10:50which has gotten him into,
10:51into trouble here.
10:53But Corbin Carroll is an absolute monster.
10:57He,
10:57I believe he's leading the national league in the home runs right now at
11:00nine and he has just been on a tear.
11:04So although you have both number ones on the mound,
11:07I feel like I got to give the advantage to the,
11:10that a home dog here in Arizona,
11:13I think both have questionable bullpens for right now,
11:17but I like the way Arizona at home is swinging the bat right now.
11:21Yeah.
11:21Corbin Cowell has been an absolute monster in that line.
11:23And also keep in mind,
11:24keep tell Marte has been out a couple of weeks now with that hamstring
11:26injury.
11:27He gets back.
11:27That's a formidable lineup.
11:28It looks like it's a lot of fun.
11:30And two pictures that let's see if they can hold up to their ACE
11:33mentality,
11:33or they just say,
11:34you know what?
11:35We're just pitching the five ERAs on the season.
11:37We come away with some runs.
11:38Another quick one here up in the Bronx today,
11:40Joe Toronto and New York,
11:42seven Oh five start high total on this one,
11:44nine and a half side though.
11:46Carrasco a minus one 46 favorite.
11:48The opening numbers dropped the one 32 Toronto and New York.
11:52Could we see some runs?
11:53Looks like the odds makers are anticipating that.
11:56Only if they can't hit Carrasco,
11:58the blue Jays,
11:59then I don't know what,
11:59what to tell them here,
12:01but they have had some success.
12:02This Yankees lineup against Barrios too.
12:04So I agree with the over.
12:06I'd even go first five over Donnie.
