The Transport Ministry supports the proposal to develop the Port Klang Cruise Terminal (PKCT) into a transhipment hub, said Minister Anthony Loke.
Speaking at a press conference after launching the Car-Carrier Driver Training Programme for Electric Vehicle (EV) Handling on Thursday (April 24), Loke said PKCT has strong potential for expansion due to the availability of surrounding land—an advantage that could further strengthen Malaysia’s logistics network.

01:42Can you say to me about the potential for our country?
01:5660 acres. But right now, of course, it's different owners, different landowners.
02:01Is there a location maybe for children or the city?
02:06Well, I think the aim of PKCT, I mean, as far as I'm concerned, PKCT right now is a cruise terminal.
02:13A cruise terminal, of course, is important. It's an important gateway for the cruise industry,
02:17which, of course, MOT fully supports PKCT to establish this terminal as a major cruise hub.
02:27for Malaysia and for Asia. In fact, last year, I led a dedication to Miami, together with PKCT
02:34and other operators to participate in the cruise conference and to attract more cruise liners
02:43to come to Malaysia. And this year, Dato' Azman, we get together with other operators. Again,
02:48they participated in that conference in Miami. But this year, I did not attend. It's to attract
02:55more players to come in here. So we want to attract more cruise liners to come in here.
03:00And eventually, we want to make PKCT as a home port as well. Not only as a port, of course. Right now,
03:08from time to time, there are cruise liners coming here as port, of course. But we want to home port here.
03:13Home port means that they are based here. So they can embark and disembark as an just from this terminal.
03:19But this terminal, we want to fully utilize it. Not only as a cruise terminal, because we have the space,
03:25we have the wharf, so that they can also act as a transshipment for cars. Because, I mean,
03:34normal times, you see, not every day there are cruise burning here. So we want to fully utilize it.
03:40So this, of course, this project is under the private operator, under PKCT. And I'm sure this is
03:46something which will bring more values and benefits to the country.
