00:00Good afternoon and welcome to this year's virtual Undeniably Dairy Shake-Off, sponsored by American Dairy Association Northeast.
00:07We hope you're enjoying this week's virtual Pennsylvania Farm Show experience.
00:11Thank you for tuning in today to celebrate the dairy industry with us.
00:15My name is Lachelle, and I am a chef and registered dietitian for American Dairy Association Northeast.
00:21And I am thrilled to be returning to host for the Undeniably Dairy Shake-Off,
00:26where this year, because our stage is virtual, we'll be able to open up the competition to the media throughout the state.
00:33Since the contest began, our Harrisburg area media teams have been coming together,
00:37putting their creativity and culinary skills to the test, in hopes of preparing the best PA Farm Show milkshake.
00:43And as I mentioned, we have a few more teams here to represent their region,
00:48who are also hungry for a win and that coveted trophy.
00:51Even though we can't all be together in person on the Farm Show Culinary Connection stage,
00:57I am thrilled that we'll be able to gather here to see who has the best-looking and most delicious-sounding Undeniably Dairy milkshake.
01:04For those of you who are not familiar with the history of the Undeniably Dairy Shake-Off,
01:08our media teams have been competing for the past three years at the PA Farm Show,
01:12with their fate determined by a panel of judges.
01:15It's been a fun and spirited competition for sure.
01:18But there are a couple of new rules this year for our teams and viewers to consider.
01:24So first, each team only has 60 seconds to present their creations and explain to our viewers why they should pick your milkshake to win the contest.
01:33And that brings me to the second point.
01:35Without any judges to taste this year's milkshake, you, the viewers, are the judges.
01:40Now you may be thinking, how can we vote on a milkshake that we haven't even tasted?
01:44Well, it's simple.
01:45Cast your vote with the following criteria in mind.
01:47Creativity, ingredients, and most importantly, which milkshake gets your mouth watering
01:52and inspires you to try the recipe at your own home.
01:56So voting for the American Dairy Association North's milkshake-off begins today.
02:02To vote, click on the voting link provided within this post.
02:06Viewers, you will have until Saturday, January 16th at 8 a.m. to vote for your favorite shake.
02:11To kick off our competition, we have our lovely Pennsylvania Dairy Princess, Gabrielle Swavely, representing Center County,
02:19who is the real expert when it comes to all things dairy.
02:22Although she isn't running for the People's Choice Trophy, she is here to join the fun.
02:26Okay, Gabrielle, time to show these stations how it's done.
02:30Hi, everyone.
02:32Thank you for having me.
02:34Today in front of me, I have created, along with my fellow dairy princesses, the Everything
02:39But the Cow Milkshake.
02:41This milkshake design was inspired by the most popular dairy cow, not only in Pennsylvania,
02:47but in the United States, the Black and White Holstein.
02:50What's in this milkshake?
02:52Well, ideally, it's an Oreo cheesecake milkshake.
02:56So there is real cream cheese.
02:59We have milk on top.
03:02We have real whipped topping.
03:04We can either buy the can, or you can make it yourself with heavy whipping cream.
03:09Of course, there's Oreos in it.
03:11And my secret ingredient for the creamiest, dreamiest milkshake is the brand new PA Dairyman's
03:18Cowabunga Ice Cream, which is just like the milkshake,
03:21but it's in ice cream form.
03:23What better way to top off this milkshake than with a couple Oreo cookies?
03:28We've decided to dedicate this milkshake to the hardworking men and women who propel the
03:33dairy industry, not only today, but every day.
03:37And to that, we cheers to you.
03:40Oh, wow.
03:42That's excellent.
03:44Thank you so much, Gabrielle, and fabulous job.
03:46I love that milkshake, and I love that secret ingredient that you brought out.
03:50That will be a tough act to follow for sure.
03:55So now, teams, are you ready?
03:57I want to make sure you're prepared.
03:58Do it.
03:58Come on.
03:59Let's go.
04:00Let's do it.
04:01We don't have to compete against her milkshake, right?
04:03No, no, no.
04:03You look legit.
04:04Showing us the sample milkshake.
04:07Holy moly.
04:08Can I get a taste?
04:09Can I get a taste up in here?
04:11All right, all right.
04:11I'll definitely say the first team up that we have is Haley Bianca and Chris Goinski from
04:18WBRE's PA Live on the NBC affiliate out of Wilkes-Barre.
04:23So, tell me what you got, Haley and Chris.
04:26Welcome.
04:30Hey, Lime.
04:31We have made an amazing milkshake for you today.
04:35Let's just be honest.
04:362020 was truly a circus for a lot of people.
04:39And but circuses are really worth it.
04:42But.
04:42But we have a sweet treat to round off the year and start the new year on the right foot.
04:49So, take a look at this milkshake.
04:51We're going to go put our milkshake tasting masks on that have a little hole for the straw
04:57that we can actually do the chase test with.
04:59So, when you think of farm show, you think of animals.
05:01So, not only are you going to see animals in here from the circus, but you're going to
05:05see them from the farm show.
05:08It's truly a carousel of flavors in these milkshakes.
05:11So, all of your favorite treats, so good.
05:15The entire time, make sure you're always masking up.
05:17Even you can enjoy a milkshake with a mask on.
05:20And we even just got word just today that we had some honorary taste testers that wanted
05:26to give it a try.
05:27They may look so familiar.
05:28Our strong leaders here in Pennsylvania leading us through this difficult time.
05:33I think they're big fans of the Mary Moo, our milkshake here today.
05:37So, thank you so much for joining us and good luck to everyone else.
05:40Oh, wait, wait, wait, wait.
05:42You got the two people there that say social distancing.
05:45Your shakes are way too close to reach out.
05:48Way too close to reach out.
05:50It's all they need.
05:51But I just have to drink it.
05:53Oh!
05:55Oh, wow.
05:56And let me tell you, the toppings, I'm living for your toppings right now.
06:02Looks so creative and beautiful.
06:05That's beautiful.
06:06Let's give it up for them.
06:07Great job, guys.
06:09You know, this year has been keeping people indoors.
06:15So, we'll give us more time to think about it.
06:17What else can we add into the milkshake?
06:20So, we hope that we inspire other people at home that are watching the virtual farm show
06:24to maybe put things in it that they might have never done before, you know, given these
06:28circumstances.
06:29Yeah.
06:30Love it.
06:30Love it, guys.
06:31Well, that is a great way to kick it off and to start it up.
06:35So, now we have our second team ready to go.
06:39Representing WHP CBS 21 out of Harrisburg is Michael Gorsigner.
06:46Take it away, Michael.
06:47You're no stranger to this competition.
06:48So, let's see what you brought to the table.
06:50All right.
06:51All right.
06:52All right.
06:52All right.
06:53Thank you very much.
06:53I am no stranger to this competition.
06:55This is my second year.
06:56I will say that I just got edged out last year.
06:59I won't say by who.
07:01Val and Kendra.
07:02But still, inspiration in any journalist's life has to be one thing.
07:08At least in mine, it has to be coffee, right?
07:11Coffee is the thing that keeps the engine running, the motor running, at least mine.
07:15That's the only way I can survive.
07:17So, coffee is the theme behind my milkshake this year.
07:20In fact, here is the finished product.
07:23Here it is.
07:23Lovely, lovely, lovely.
07:25And I don't want to bore the viewers with all the ingredients.
07:28You know, you have the lovely ice cream and the great PA preferred milk.
07:32But the coffee, that is what inspires this beautiful treat.
07:37Look at that.
07:38Everyone, look at that.
07:39How about it?
07:40A little bit of caramel on the bottom.
07:42But the coffee is the thing that really gets you going when you start talking about mixing the ingredients,
07:47getting the right flavors, the coffee, little Hershey syrup.
07:51You got to have a little Hershey if you're from central PA, right?
07:54Little ready whip on top.
07:56I mean, we have everything that you could possibly want when, especially if you get in there close,
08:02like coffee beans included.
08:04So, that is the theme behind my undeniably dairy shake this year.
08:10A little bit of coffee magic for you.
08:13Just to keep you going here in 2021.
08:15Oh, wow.
08:17I love that.
08:19I love that.
08:19A good kick start, right?
08:21I think we all need a good little kind of refresher.
08:24And coffee is just a good way to kick off the morning, kick off the afternoon, and kick off the evening at dessert.
08:29That's right.
08:30That is right.
08:31Mike?
08:31Oh, yes, darling.
08:32Yes, yes.
08:33I just want to say, when people copy you, that's the biggest form of flattery.
08:37You know we won with a coffee milkshake last year.
08:39Oh, thank you.
08:42Listen, I have a short-term memory.
08:45I have a short-term memory.
08:46There's a lot of things banging around in here.
08:48I had no idea.
08:49But I can guarantee the viewers that this one is supreme.
08:54Got it.
08:55Got a little smack talk from our team up, I see.
08:59So, now we have WHTM ABC7 out of Harrisburg.
09:06Valerie and her team have won this competition every year since it began in 2018, which means Valerie Pritchett and Kendra Nichols, these people are coming for your trophy.
09:19So, let's see what you've come up with to defend your title.
09:23ABC27.
09:24Woo!
09:27ABC27 came up with something new.
09:29This year.
09:30Kendra.
09:31So, we have the American Apple Pie Milkshake.
09:34What's more American than Apple Pie?
09:36We like to be unique.
09:38We like to bring new flavors that people don't think of.
09:40So, we thought everybody loves Apple Pie.
09:43Yeah.
09:43So, let's do it.
09:45So, we have vanilla ice cream, salted vanilla ice cream, apple pie filling, caramel.
09:51And then the secret ingredient over here is a little bit of Apple Pie Spice.
09:56Now, they've fallen a little bit.
09:57Check them out.
09:58And now, I think I'm just going to do a little whip up here.
10:00Yeah.
10:01Ready?
10:01Keep our social distancing.
10:03Look at this.
10:03It's on Apple, cinnamon, cinnamon.
10:05I'm going to add a little bit more of this wonderful Apple Pie Spice.
10:11And there you go.
10:13And we've had several people taste it.
10:15They love it.
10:16It's new.
10:17Please vote for us.
10:18I think you're going to really, really, really enjoy it.
10:21It was hard to take these away from our coworkers.
10:24Right.
10:24And we did try Apple Pie first.
10:27And we were like, no good.
10:28So, Apple Pie filling is the key.
10:31Try it.
10:32You'll love it.
10:33It makes you feel cozy.
10:34Warm.
10:35And especially now.
10:36And we do miss not being at the Farm Guide.
10:38Yes.
10:38We are glad you are joining us this way.
10:40We want to thank all of our farmers out there.
10:42We appreciate you.
10:43Everything.
10:43Go Dairy.
10:45Yay.
10:45And good luck to everybody else.
10:47No, you guys.
10:48I love it.
10:48I love it.
10:49You guys just like to suck it up.
10:51Don't you?
10:53Oh, I see.
10:55CVS is coming for you.
10:56But I love what you just said.
10:58You're using Apple Pie filling versus Apple Pie.
11:01That's the secret?
11:03Yes.
11:03And we use a lot of Pennsylvania ingredients supporting our local farmers as well.
11:08Okay.
11:09I like that.
11:10A nice little local pitch there.
11:12I see.
11:14So, I want to present our next team.
11:18Okay.
11:18That's coming up.
11:19Next up out of the Harrisburg area is WPMT Fox 43.
11:25And joining us from the station is Matt Mazel.
11:28Take it away, Matt.
11:33I am a rookie to this competition.
11:35And it is my pleasure to be here and win today.
11:38What we have here is, you mentioned the Harrisburg area, but WPMT Fox 43 is in York, Pennsylvania.
11:45So, what better way to rep Fox 43 and rep the city of York than with a York peppermint patty milkshake?
11:52Here's what we got right here.
11:53I'm going to bring this up a little closer.
11:55Now, the key to this is a chocolate base.
11:59You really want to get a thick chocolate milk.
12:02Forget the vanilla ice cream.
12:03We're going thick chocolate all the way.
12:05And to make it even extra chocolatey, we're throwing in some unsweetened cocoa powder on top of it when you mix it all in.
12:13You get the milk.
12:14You get the milkshake.
12:15You've got six, six crumbled up York peppermint patties into the blender.
12:20And you mix it up with the chocolate ice cream, the cocoa powder, the milk.
12:25You do a little extra whipped cream on top, chocolate drizzle.
12:32And then, of course, what milkshake could you have with York peppermint patty without your very own York peppermint patty in the end?
12:41Listen, I appreciate what everyone's doing.
12:44ABC 27, you guys have run this competition the last couple years.
12:48Your time is over.
12:49Gore-Signer, CBS 21, your time is past.
12:53Joe Margo, go back on another vacation with WTAT.
12:57And WBRE, listen, I appreciate what you guys, but you're snowed in up north, and it's just not going to happen.
13:04You should have never entered this competition.
13:05This is Fox 43's competition here forward, and the York peppermint patty milkshake is undeniably dairy.
13:12Wow.
13:14That's a big clap.
13:16We're going to still clap, even though you, you know, did a little...
13:20I do like that smack talk so far.
13:24That is true.
13:25I like how he used part of his minute to talk smack to the rest of us.
13:30There has to be a few bonus points in there, right?
13:32I mean, I'll give him a few.
13:33That's part of your game.
13:34That's part of the competition.
13:35That's exactly right.
13:36We love that you came here.
13:38We love that you're new, and we love that you're going and gunning for everybody on the...
13:42Brass.
13:43Brass.
13:43And I also love that you put that York kind of peppermint patty in there, something really refreshing, minty, bringing it to a nice milkshake.
13:51So, nice touch there.
13:53So, now, we have another team coming up.
13:57We have Joe Mergo.
13:59He's our resident meteorologist.
14:01And so, Joe told me he was going to bring the thunder.
14:05And he's representing DWPAJ, the CBS affiliate in Altoona.
14:11Okay, Joe.
14:12So, let's bring that thunder.
14:14You know, I'm like...
14:18I'm like Harrisburg.
14:19I can do it all on my own.
14:22They need two people to make it.
14:24And my milkshake really highlights milk.
14:29Okay?
14:30Not too much in the way of additions.
14:32Why?
14:32Because the more milk, the more we're supporting the farmers of Pennsylvania.
14:38And we have a lot of dairy farmers here in central Pennsylvania.
14:41Now, Christmas is over.
14:42You need to get rid of the Christmas things.
14:44What do we have left over?
14:46Sometimes they make it for the last year.
14:48Candy canes.
14:49All right?
14:50Now, all right.
14:52So, what do you do with them?
14:54You take them.
14:55You crush them up.
14:57And you make the avalanche milkshake.
15:00Now, I'm competing with that.
15:01I don't know.
15:03I already got it.
15:04So, the American skier, Pennsylvania Ski Association is going to love this.
15:08I am a big-time skier.
15:10I'm a ski instructor.
15:11So, my avalanche has a trail, a skier, and you pick your favorite mountain in Pennsylvania.
15:20Yeah.
15:20Get out there.
15:21Enjoy Pennsylvania.
15:23We're in a pandemic.
15:24What can you do?
15:24Let's say, stay outside.
15:26It is winter, guys.
15:28Winter.
15:29And Pennsylvania is known for its being.
15:31I hope you enjoy it.
15:32This has pure mint taste to it.
15:37I add a little mint extract, a lot of milk, and of course, lastly, yeah, I'm going to have
15:43dairy whipped cream.
15:44I knew he was going to do that.
15:46I knew I was going to do that.
15:49But anyway.
15:49I love it.
15:51It's time for the chance to go down.
15:55Yeah.
15:55What's up with that?
15:56Come on.
15:57We can't help it.
15:58We're good.
15:59He brought the thunder.
16:01I mean, I'm telling you, kind of theming it back, skiing, slow sleeping, and have a little
16:06mint extract in there.
16:08I kind of got a vibe from your milkshake.
16:09I love it.
16:11I love it.
16:12Love it.
16:12So, finally, we have our sole radio personality, Andy Summers.
16:18From 95 XTU out of Philadelphia, Andy wants us to think beyond the Philly cheesesteak and
16:26focus on our milkshake today.
16:28So, what do you have for us?
16:33Well, guys, we are ready to just kill it with this milkshake.
16:38All you TV personalities, you all look really good, okay?
16:41But we can eat and drink as many milkshakes as we want and get whatever that does to, you
16:47know, pack the pounds on because we're just enraged.
16:50So, ooh, good one.
16:51All right.
16:51So, what we have for you today, because we are so excited about plantar season finally
16:56coming back this summer.
16:58We have for you the ultimate milkshake, which we are calling the She Thinks My Trafter Sexy
17:06milkshake as we get ready for Petty Chesney this summer in June at Lincoln Financial Field,
17:12okay?
17:13So, you've got your ice cream.
17:14You've got your milk.
17:16You've got your Oreos or whatever chocolate cookie you decide to throw in there.
17:24But before we're talking about tailgating, we have to up it a little bit here.
17:28So, we also have your Bailey's Irish cream, all right?
17:30Which makes it a dream.
17:32This is a dream in a glass.
17:34See, my brother said he'd stop by here.
17:36He's going to have a little bit.
17:38He loves it.
17:38He's good friends with Kenny Chesney.
17:40And he said, this is the ultimate tank beating experience right here, ladies and gentlemen.
17:45You're welcome.
17:46Bring it, Philadelphia!
17:49Why didn't you describe your milkshake as the Harrisburg team?
17:55You said sassy.
17:56And there's nothing more sassy than those two over there.
17:58I love it.
18:01I love the fact that we have a kind of a team going on.
18:04I love that that milkshake had some, you said Bailey Irish cream in it?
18:09Leave it to the filling people to bring in the adult beverages, huh?
18:12Leave it to those filling people.
18:14Irish can be an adult version, too.
18:17There you go.
18:18I like that.
18:18I just want to introduce my lovely assistants, Dave and Donnie, here from the Eddie Summers Morning Show.
18:26Hey, real quick.
18:28Real quick.
18:29Much like the rest of Philadelphia, you guys are probably going to lose.
18:33Oh!
18:35There's coming from Philly over there.
18:37There comes from Philly.
18:38Why do you need to go that long?
18:41I'm trying to keep it clean.
18:43I love it.
18:44I love that you came up with a tailgating beverage, a little something different, not just something at night that you can have as a dessert, but tailgating.
18:50I think everybody did such a great job making a unique, interesting, individual milkshake with some great smack talk on the side.
18:59And that was a lot of fun.
19:00And I do envy our viewers having to decide which milkshake to vote for.
19:04So, again, to our viewers, the voting is up to you.
19:08You have until 8 a.m. on Saturday, January 16th to vote for your favorite milkshake by clicking on the voting link provided within this video post on our American Dairy Association Northeast Facebook page.
19:21We will announce the winner of the People's Choice Trophy on our page on Saturday, January 16th at 1.30 p.m.
19:29So, thank you to all of our teams for participating in the virtual Undeniably Dairy Shake-Off.
19:35We know it's been an unusual year.
19:38We know it's been an unusual year.
19:38Fox 43!
19:39Fox 43!
19:41There you go!
19:42There's two!

19:44So, we are!

19:59Cheers!
