00:00We know the hard work and sacrifice they go through serving our community and keeping us safe.
00:06Let's honor another First Responder on 99.5 QYK.
00:11Hi, it is First Responder Friday. We have Taylor on the phone who is honoring her husband, Thomas.
00:16Good morning, Taylor. How are you?
00:18Good morning. Doing great. Thank you.
00:20So let's learn about Thomas. What does he do? Where does he serve our community as a First Responder?
00:24My husband is Thomas and he's been with Pasco County Fire Rescue for the last six years.
00:30He takes a lot of pride in serving our community.
00:33He started as an EMT and then paramedic and recently promoted to driver engineer.
00:39Which, to my knowledge, he's in charge of driving the fire engine to fires and controls the pumps for water and supplies, like tools for the crew that they might need at the scene.
00:49Okay.
00:50And he's worked hard to achieve this title. I feel like those that know him would describe him as a go-getter are very ambitious.
00:58He's always thinking about what's next so he can serve those in need the best way he knows how.
01:04Absolutely. I think you described him very, very well right there.
01:07Sure. But, you know, being his wife, Taylor, what are some characteristics that you see in Thomas, because you know him, you know, maybe the best, that you think translate perfectly into his job as a First Responder?
01:18You know, I say, you know, be fearless. But, I mean, he's really courageous and brave.
01:23You know, he's not really afraid to go into any scene or anything like that.
01:26And he talks very highly of, you know, how well he does at each scene he goes to.
01:30And he's very, you know, enthusiastic about, you know, the difference that he made and how he helped various people from kids to geriatrics and everything in between.
01:39Wow, he sounds like an amazing guy. Now, you said he actually drives the fire truck. Do you ever, like, question him on his driving skills when, like, he's driving, you know, you guys out to dinner or something and he's looking at you and he's like, girl, I drive a fire truck. I can drive this.
01:54You know, it's funny you say that, because when I drive and he's in the passenger seat, you know, halfway through the truck, he's like, oh, man, I should have drove.
02:02Yeah.
02:02I'm like, well, you do do that as a profession.
02:05Yeah.
02:05I mean, driving a big, huge fire truck through the city and, you know, dodging, like, all that stuff in the corners is crazy.
02:12And not only that, they know the best ways, too.
02:14Yeah.
02:14I always tell him he has an internal GPS. I mean, he knows every street in Pasco. Even, you know, we live in Hernando now, but he knows every street without using a GPS.
02:22Yeah. Well, it's a must, because that time is a huge difference in maybe saving somebody's life or not.
02:28Matter of minutes, yep.
02:29Well, what are some things that you guys like to do, Taylor, when he's not working?
02:33Typically, we're very outdoorsy, so we usually go to, like, parks or, like, markets. Like, downtown Dunedin has, like, markets on different weekends. I actually work at Meese Countryside as an RN.
02:44You're a first responder as well.
02:46First responder, boy.
02:47Look at you. Awesome.
02:48Burying the lead on us here, Taylor. We can honor you, too.
02:51Yeah, I didn't want to nominate myself. I nominate my husband. But, yeah, we work opposite schedules, so we do get days together to go out and do stuff that we enjoy.
03:00Nice.
03:00Very nice. Well, listen, speaking of those things you love to enjoy, we want to do this. Just a small way for us to say thank you to both of you is we want to give you $200 in Visa gift cards.
03:10Thanks to our friends at Crown Buick GMC and Demesman and Dover Law Firm. Like I said, small way for us to say thank you, and we're so appreciative of you guys.
03:19Mm-hmm.
03:19Thank you guys so much. I'm really proud to listen to our radio station that supports the most brave and courageous members of the community.
03:26Hey, you found us. We're here.
03:28Well, Taylor, hang on for me, and thank you so much.
03:31Awesome. Thanks so much. I appreciate it.
