00:00Dave, quick sports, what do we got, man?
00:02Well, we've got to start with basketball because of the breaking news out of the NBA
00:06that the Brooklyn Nets have traded superstar Kyrie Irving to the Dallas Mavericks.
00:12Well, he'll be paired with Dallas' emerging megastar in Luka Doncic.
00:18Pretty surprising here.
00:19Brooklyn will receive Dorian Finney-Smith, Spencer Dinwiddie, and three draft picks.
00:26And that's really what Brooklyn coveted, was the three draft picks, which includes a future first-rounder.
00:33But the reason why I say it's surprising is because the Nets had done what they needed to do with Kevin Durant's injury.
00:40They had tread water.
00:41They had won games.
00:43They had pretty much been even.
00:45They were a little bit over .500.
00:46The Nets right now are 32-20, 12 games over .500, fourth in the entire Eastern Conference,
00:54and expecting Kevin Durant back in a week.
00:57So it does seem like they had a chance to actually have a season, but they're just pulling the plug.
01:03Kyrie said.
01:04They're going over.
01:05Head case Kyrie said.
01:06Well.
01:07He looked at the situation and said, well, I'm going to try to get more money out of this.
01:10He wanted to trade.
01:11And they said no.
01:12He did want to trade because he asked for a contract extension, a huge contract extension.
01:18They said no, but if I were them, I would have just played hardball because Kevin Durant
01:24had asked for a trade before the season multiple times.
01:27The Nets just said no, no, no.
01:29And then when Kevin Durant put his Nets uniform on, he's been averaging 29 points a game.
01:33Yeah, but it's kind of crazy.
01:34Hard to play hardball with a guy who thinks the world is flat.
01:37I mean, Kyrie is definitely unique.
01:39As for that amazing three superstar team that they had a few years ago with Kevin Durant,
01:45James Harden, and Kyrie Irving, that team should have won a championship.
01:49They had all the pieces there.
01:51And that thing just went down in flames.
01:53You had the Harden mess, now the Kyrie mess.
01:56And the word on the street is that the Nets will look to move Kevin Durant.
02:02That they will just blow it up.
02:04Earlier, you said something pretty interesting.
02:06The Knicks.
02:07Yeah.
02:07I want them.
02:08That's interesting.
02:09I said I didn't want Kyrie to come to the Knicks because of the ego that you're saying.
02:16And because the Knicks are playing really good team basketball.
02:20Kyrie would have scuttled that.
02:21And Durant, though, I do think they're a superstar away from being a title contender.
02:27And Kevin Durant fills that niche.
02:30I mean, this is the guy.
02:31So maybe they'd make a move.
02:32I would love it.
02:33The Knicks, by the way, were in action yesterday against the third place,
02:3776ers and the Knicks won 108-97.
02:42So another quality win for the Knicks that we're asking for as they are seventh in the Eastern Conference.
02:49Remember, the top 10 teams make the playoffs.
02:52The Knicks would be in the playoffs.
02:54Julius Randle had 24 points.
02:55Excellent season for him.
02:57Football.
02:58Yesterday was the first ever Pro Bowl games.
03:02Different format now.
03:04They eschewed the bad football in Hawaii where basically no one cares for the entire 60 minutes of the game.
03:13And as a result, no one watches.
03:14And there's a half-empty stadium.
03:16Instead, they went with an Olympic-style Pro Bowl.
03:20They had skills competitions with, like, offensive linemen, you know, having to drag weight and kind of like a tug-of-war situation.
03:29And different kind of, like, a fancy catch skills challenge similar to a dunk competition.
03:37And then they had three flag football games in between.
03:40I gotta go watch some of that.
03:41That sounds kind of fun.
03:42Now, we put the highlights right there at WRAT.com.
03:45That makes it easy.
03:46So, if you want to go check out the highlights, go check it out.
03:49The winning coach, Eli Manning, baby.
03:53He's now undefeated against his brother in coaching.
03:56Because Eli beat Peyton.
03:58And Peyton was mad because there was a controversial call at the end.
04:01The NHL All-Star Game, meanwhile, was on Saturday.
04:04And the Atlantic Division beat the Central Division 7-5 to win the whole thing.
04:09Florida Panthers forward Matthew Tatchuck was named the MVP after getting a goal and an assist.
04:16in the final and three goals in the semifinal.
04:19And finally, baseball.
04:20Yankees general manager Brian Cashman confirmed this weekend that right-hander Luis Severino
04:25will not be pitching in the World Baseball Classic.
04:28That's probably a smart idea.
04:30The man's had shoulder surgery.
04:32And we need Severino to be a part of the big four with the Yankees' rotation.
04:38If they're all healthy, you got Garrett Cole, Rodon, Severino, and Nasty Nester.
04:44That's a top flight starting four right there.
04:47I don't want that guy throwing snowballs.
04:49No.
04:50He should absolutely not be throwing anything until maybe even April.
