00:00Thank you so much for watching Riff TV.
00:02Now, this interview is obviously with video,
00:04but I don't interview everybody on Zoom.
00:07That's why I put it on my Talkin' Rock with Meltdown podcast.
00:10We talk to rock artists from all over the genre.
00:13So check out Talkin' Rock with Meltdown wherever you get your podcasts.
00:16And now, to today's video interview.
00:20Good to see you, Gavin. How's things, man?
00:23Pretty good. Pretty good. Pretty full on.
00:25Getting the most out of life.
00:27Having a wonderful time at home these couple of weeks.
00:31And I was in Europe. We did a bunch of festivals.
00:35They were amazing.
00:37Good to be back in that environment.
00:39And obviously, this new single coming out, the record.
00:42It's always a nice feeling for me, you know, when the record's done
00:44and it's printed and it's going out.
00:48It's like, that's the end of a bit of a long process for me.
00:52Well, not a long process, but you know what I mean?
00:54You go from silence to making a song and then presenting it to people
01:02and then playing it with a producer.
01:04You know what I mean?
01:05The whole thing is like, you know, I go from the silence
01:08to judging the gaps between the song, the silence between the record.
01:13So, it's silence to silence with sound in between.
01:20Right. It's funny you say, you know what I mean?
01:22Well, I don't know what you mean because I never put out a record.
01:24But I assume that at one point, it's like, this is yours.
01:27And then when you release it, now it's everybody's.
01:29Yeah, absolutely.
01:30But also, okay, the same difference when I write it in my studio
01:34and it's all mine and I got to take it in front of the committee.
01:37That is the band, the producer, then the label, management.
01:43You know, they've got to please everybody.
01:44And if somebody's not pleased, they'll say, you know, no, keep going, no.
01:48You know, so there's that lovely moment
01:51where you just have the excitement of writing a song.
01:55Now I have the lovely moment of everyone agreed
01:57where we ended up more or less.
01:59Everyone's on the same page.
02:00And the record's coming out.
02:02And obviously, the reaction so far has been pretty phenomenal for this song.
02:06So I'm good, you know.
02:09No, it is pretty cool.
02:10There's a little bit of a gap here.
02:12But it seems like the new song is kind of like where the kingdom left off.
02:16Yeah.
02:17I felt we struck a nerve of where we should be
02:21and what we should be doing.
02:23And it seemed wrong to do anything.
02:27I always thought, man, I should have done 16 Stone over and over
02:31and just to switch the order.
02:33And it set us all as often, you know,
02:34making live sound records, Steve Albini,
02:36more tripped out records, the size of things.
02:39It's just like, and so something about the kingdom really was felt right
02:43and musically right.
02:44And it connected with people and it connected with what's going on in the world.
02:48People like rock music.
02:49And I just thought, I ain't letting go of that one.
02:51I've got to, that's the life raft.
02:54I'm not letting go, you know.
02:55So I stayed the same weird tunings
02:57and keep it all kind of very, very wide and ocean deep music
03:04and then sing on top of it what's bothering me, you know.
03:06Yeah.
03:07Now, Art of Survival, talk about the title.
03:11I think that everybody's been through so much
03:13and that old adage people talk about, you know,
03:15you never know, don't be quick to judge people.
03:18You don't know what they're going through.
03:19Everyone is going through something.
03:21Everyone has a crazy challenge
03:23that if you took the time out of your day, you would hear what that is.
03:27Corona made that worse for everyone.
03:30People obviously died.
03:32People lost their jobs.
03:33People lost their sort of support systems.
03:39People lost a lot of savings.
03:42But somehow, we have made it through to this point, you know.
03:50That's not to disrespect anyone who really, you know,
03:53who passed away and stuff.
03:55But what I mean is that it takes so much guts, truthfully,
03:59for everyone to go from one week to the next.
04:02I don't care what your line of work is.
04:05It's not easy.
04:06Unless you really cop out and don't care
04:08and, you know, just live the safest life possible.
04:11And, you know what I mean,
04:12you stay in some parameters and you never,
04:14life doesn't touch you.
04:15I don't know how that's.
04:15I don't even think that's possible.
04:17I think no matter who you are.
04:18So, it's a sort of a universal title
04:20that goes to all of us.
04:23It's like a congratulations to everyone.
04:27You know?
04:28So, everybody I've been talking to
04:30that's put out new music
04:31has a pandemic record.
04:33Is this yours?
04:33Well, no, because that was more of the kingdom,
04:40I think, probably.
04:41I don't really know.
04:42I mean, we're sort of, we're in it,
04:44but we're not in it.
04:45We're, you know, it's all over,
04:46but then everyone's getting COVID.
04:47Then people get COVID.
04:48They go, man, how long have you had COVID?
04:5015 minutes.
04:51Ah, you're fine.
04:53You're absolutely fine.
04:5412 minutes, no good.
04:55But 15 minutes, you're all good.
04:57So, it's just the most recent record
05:01that we made.
05:04And what a great life to have.
05:08I'm so appreciative of that.
05:09My version of going to work is, you know,
05:12I can crack a beer or whatever
05:14and then sit in the studio
05:15legitimately preparing for work.
05:17It's all good.
05:18You know?
05:18It's not like...
05:19So, I love making music so much
05:23and it just still thrills me.
05:25You know, when I put a song together
05:26and I find that, you know,
05:28chords and melodies
05:29and the next section works.
05:32Yeah, it just...
05:33Nothing makes me happier
05:34apart from my kids, maybe.
05:36That's it.
05:36Nothing else, you know,
05:37because it's such a great achievement
05:39and yet I've done it so many times.
05:43I think it's because the artistic streak
05:44is to think you can never do it again.
05:46Like, you know, torture yourself.
05:48It's torture as well.
05:50Like, ah, I'll never do it again.
05:51It's never going to work.
05:52It's terrible.
05:53And then something pops out.
05:54You go, oh, I like that.
05:56You stop beating yourself up
05:58and you pursue that
05:59and you get...
05:59Hopefully you get a good song.
06:00You know, it's just funny.
06:02And my best friend's living with me now,
06:04staying with us now
06:05for a few weeks
06:07and he's always like,
06:09why you got to go through that process?
06:10He goes, of course you can write a song.
06:11Like, I wrote a song for his movie.
06:14He rang me on a Friday.
06:15He said, I've got this movie.
06:16I've got this song.
06:17It's like this bluesy thing.
06:19We can't clear it
06:20because I've got no money.
06:21But can you write us a song like that?
06:23I was like, when do you need it for?
06:24He goes, yeah, well, maybe, you know,
06:26next week or something like that.
06:27I was like, wow, okay.
06:29So then I saw my schedule was really tight
06:31with my own recording.
06:33I was like, damn,
06:34I better do that freaking song on Monday.
06:37So I did the song on the Monday
06:39and I took the Waylon Jennings songs,
06:41the first thing we just had a four on the floor
06:43and then I left it
06:44because I wasn't into that.
06:45I put the song down
06:46and I was like, oh my God, I got it.
06:49And it's really pretty good.
06:50It's called Mr. Trigger Finger.
06:51And it's for his movie.
06:53It's really, I was really proud of it.
06:55And I gave it to him and he goes,
06:58of course you can write it.
06:59I knew you could write it.
07:00I said, it's not that easy.
07:01Yeah, he goes, well, I asked you on Friday.
07:03He gave it to me on Monday night.
07:04I was like, yeah,
07:05but we were just lucky that time.
07:07We were lucky.
07:08So I think it's a better attitude
07:09to have the, you know,
07:10you're always like insecure
07:12about your ability
07:13because it makes it a bit more adrenalized.
07:18The music's more adrenalized.
07:20You know, because if I'm like,
07:22if I was just doing like really self-contented,
07:25like acoustic, mid-tempo,
07:28everything's so great.
07:30This is, you know,
07:30it just sounded like,
07:32it'd just be like padding,
07:33but like cushion music.
07:35Yeah.
07:35Well, you know,
07:36you're not cocky.
07:38No.
07:38That's why, right?
07:41Yeah.
07:41No, I don't.
07:42I've never had that.
07:43I don't,
07:44I sometimes wish I was a bit more,
07:47but it's done me all right
07:49to like have a humble approach
07:51to writing songs
07:53and the magic of songs,
07:55you know, the magic,
07:55you know,
07:55when I hear other people
07:56writing great songs,
07:57I'm so impressed.
07:58And, you know,
07:59things amazing.
08:00People impress me with songs
08:01when they get them right.
08:02And I just always like,
08:04man,
08:04no,
08:05I wish I would have wrote that,
08:06but that's such a cool thing.
08:08Why didn't I think of that?
08:09God damn.
08:10You know,
08:11someone with a really great lyric,
08:13a great melody,
08:14great intro.
08:14It's like,
08:15oh,
08:15wow.
08:16You know?
08:17Yeah.
08:17There's only so many chords,
08:18I suppose,
08:19in the world.
08:19And sometimes you've got to probably feel
08:20like everyone's played them.
08:22It's eight notes.
08:23I'm thinking of the entire
08:24Western civilization of music
08:26is built on,
08:27you know,
08:27very few notes.
08:28And just think of it
08:29from Eric Sarty
08:31to Megadeth.
08:33You know what I mean?
08:34Yeah.
08:34Same notes.
08:35Yeah.
08:36Yeah, that's true.
08:37So you're also on a
08:38Seether track coming up.
08:39They redid
08:40What Would You Do?
08:41Talk about that.
08:42Do people reach out to you
08:43periodically to try to
08:44record stuff with you?
08:45Or has that not happened a lot?
08:47Well,
08:48it doesn't,
08:48it's not an everyday thing
08:50and it's really fun
08:51when they do,
08:53you know what I mean?
08:53Especially like the track.
08:55So it was just,
08:57it's always a fun exercise.
08:58I like it because
08:58as a songwriter,
09:00it's like doing covers
09:02that when you get
09:02into someone's vocal
09:04and I had to study
09:05what Sean had written
09:06and he,
09:08you know,
09:08it's a super,
09:09it's really well written
09:10melodic track.
09:12It's,
09:12you know,
09:13it's,
09:14it just is very,
09:16very well written.
09:17I mean,
09:17lyrically,
09:18it's very,
09:18you know,
09:19he's down in the dumps.
09:21He's down in the dump.
09:22He's still down in the dumps
09:24for love,
09:25but it's a really well written track
09:27and it's just fun to,
09:29all the little,
09:30little,
09:31little things,
09:31you know,
09:32I'm really respectful
09:32when I sing someone else's song.
09:35I think you can do anything
09:36with a cover,
09:37for example,
09:38when you do a cover,
09:39you can change the music.
09:40That's almost respectful
09:41to kind of give it
09:42a different flavor,
09:43but you just cannot mess
09:45with the melody,
09:45the vocal melody.
09:46When I hear people
09:47singing people's songs
09:49and they put an extra run
09:51in here or something like,
09:52I could read this,
09:53you know,
09:53that classic hit,
09:54I'm going to rewrite it for you
09:56and put it on,
09:56whoa,
09:57and then I'm always like,
09:58don't do that.
09:59Why did,
10:00John Lennon
10:01didn't put that on there.
10:02Prince did not do that.
10:04And I hated it
10:05when I was on The Voice.
10:07It just annoyed me so much
10:08when these singers
10:10would come along
10:11and rewrite someone's melody.
10:14You know,
10:14you just,
10:15it's,
10:15I think it's sacrilegious.
10:17You can't,
10:18you can't,
10:19it's not allowed.
10:20It's not allowed.
10:21It's not allowed.
10:22Maybe Cat Power
10:23can kind of intonate
10:25and do things
10:26with her covers
10:27that,
10:27okay,
10:28she can do it,
10:29Jan Marshall,
10:30but nobody else,
10:31the rest of us,
10:32bear a standing line
10:33and respect
10:34their vocal melody.
10:35Yeah,
10:35it's like when somebody
10:36does a national anthem.
10:38That's kind of the way
10:38I feel,
10:39you know?
10:39Oh,
10:40God's sake.
10:41Why do they keep rewriting it?
10:42Like adding all the trills
10:44and frills.
10:44Like,
10:45no one needs that.
10:46The country's not built on that.
10:48That's just like froth.
10:49It's like,
10:49it's like your cappuccino.
10:50You don't get to the coffee
10:51for ages.
10:52It's like all that froth.
10:53Yeah,
10:54I was not,
10:54I was not a fan of that.
10:56When I did any music talent shows
10:58that I've been on,
10:59on the judging side
11:00or coaching side,
11:01I'm always like,
11:02please don't do that.
11:04Please don't do that.
11:05You know?
11:06Yeah,
11:06when I told people
11:07on the internet
11:07I was going to be talking
11:08to you today,
11:08a lot of people wanted me
11:09to ask you about that
11:10no covers show.
11:11That must have been pretty cool
11:12not only to judge that
11:13but then be with Alice
11:14and Lizzie and all that.
11:16Yeah,
11:17it was amazing fun.
11:18As always,
11:19it's the most fun
11:20is to get to know
11:21the judges.
11:21So,
11:22Tosin became a good friend
11:24of mine,
11:24an amazing guitar player
11:26and a really great person
11:29and yeah,
11:30of course,
11:31I'd met Alice a little bit.
11:34It was funny
11:34when Alice Cooper
11:35says hi,
11:35Gavin.
11:36You know,
11:36Alice Cooper
11:37knows he's a trip
11:38by the way.
11:38You know what I mean?
11:39He's like the lord
11:40of like that
11:41and then talks about golf
11:42and he's like
11:43the sweetest man
11:43in the world.
11:44You're like,
11:44what's going on?
11:46He's the only golfer
11:47with great eyeliner
11:48and he's just
11:51an amazing man
11:52and it's really fun
11:54to hear his perspective.
11:55You know,
11:55when he's talking
11:56about the bands
11:57and what he thinks.
12:00Fascinating
12:01and Lizzie,
12:02you know,
12:02she's just a badass,
12:04fantastic singer,
12:06fantastic front person
12:09and huge success
12:11and their record,
12:13their number one record,
12:14number one songs,
12:15phenomenal.
12:16And so I sat next to her
12:18so it was a great
12:19getting to know her
12:20and Joe,
12:20her boyfriend,
12:21was hanging out
12:23and taking the pictures
12:24all the time
12:24so I got to spend
12:24a lot of time with him.
12:25So it was really fun.
12:26It was a really
12:27enjoyable experience.
12:28I hope they have
12:28another season.
12:30Yeah,
12:31Lizzie and Alice
12:31are some of the nicest people
12:32I've had a chance
12:33to meet in this business,
12:34including yourself.
12:35Last time I saw you,
12:36you even got me a beer
12:37and everything
12:37so that was nice.
12:38That was pre-pandemic,
12:39I do believe.
12:40There you go.
12:41There you go.
12:42We can do it again.
12:43Yeah,
12:43here in Detroit.
12:44Yeah,
12:44you're going to be coming
12:44through Detroit
12:45coming up here
12:45in the middle of August
12:46with Alice in Chains
12:47and Branky Benjamin
12:48and you guys.
12:49That's going to be
12:49a fun show as well.
12:52Yeah,
12:52that's a lot of songs
12:54and a lot of music
12:57that people will know
12:59and I think that it's
13:00I think it's going to be
13:03really a great experience.
13:05I mean,
13:05it's just starting up
13:05next week
13:06and originally
13:06we were going out
13:07with Breaking Benjamin
13:08and then Breaking Benjamin
13:10kind of teamed up
13:11with Alice in Chains
13:12and I was like,
13:12oh,
13:13shoot,
13:14I thought we were going
13:14with them.
13:15And then they're like,
13:16hey,
13:16you guys want to come
13:17with us?
13:17And I was thinking,
13:18do I really want
13:19to play the 20,000
13:21people a night
13:22who love songs
13:23and rock music?
13:24Okay.
13:25Okay,
13:26I'm in.
13:27Okay.
13:28So,
13:29so I think it's going
13:30to be really fun
13:31and I do love the idea
13:32that it's really great
13:34in these hard times
13:35and people who come
13:36through the pandemic
13:37that if they come
13:38to that show,
13:39it's good,
13:40good bang for the buck.
13:41I think that's a fair,
13:43you know what I mean?
13:44Some things,
13:44I saw some,
13:47people have some trouble
13:48with some Springsteen
13:50ticket prices
13:51and whatever they cost
13:52all that stuff.
13:54I don't know anything
13:55about this stuff
13:55and I definitely know
13:58that we're not
13:58an expensive band to see,
13:59but I think
14:00that's a cool thing
14:01because it is hard
14:03for people.
14:03They come,
14:04they got the parking,
14:05they got the beer,
14:05they got the tickets,
14:06they got the money.
14:07So it feels good
14:09to be on a package
14:13that people can get
14:14a lot out of it.
14:15I'm looking forward
14:16to seeing those bands too.
14:18Yeah,
14:18one of my friends
14:19that he was paying,
14:20they wanted 500 bucks
14:21for like the top row seat
14:22in the stadium
14:23for Bruce and whatever.
14:26I just talked a few minutes ago
14:27about your kids and stuff
14:29and you're one of the few guys
14:30I get a chance to talk to
14:31that's not only a rock star,
14:33but you're also like
14:34this cultural thing as well.
14:35So talk about
14:36the two different worlds.
14:40Well,
14:41what do you mean
14:42exactly by cultural?
14:43Well,
14:43you know,
14:44you're pictured like,
14:46you know,
14:46on the side
14:48of the basketball court
14:49with all these
14:50other major celebrities
14:51and then you're
14:52over here from Bush
14:53and you know,
14:53there's cultural thing
14:55as well.
14:55I don't talk to many
14:56like that.
14:57Yes,
14:57wait.
15:01I don't know.
15:02I'm such a,
15:03I feel like a fixture,
15:04you know,
15:05I feel like I don't,
15:06I'm not like uber crazy,
15:08like,
15:09like,
15:09Justin Bieber famous
15:11in any way,
15:12but I have been.
15:13And then you just have
15:14this sort of middle ground
15:15where there's just people
15:16help you wherever you go
15:18or people know you
15:18or people say hi.
15:20And it's a nice balance now.
15:22I feel like,
15:22I think of myself
15:24like a working musician.
15:25I just feel like that.
15:26And then every now
15:28and again,
15:28I remember,
15:28oh,
15:29oh yeah,
15:29sure.
15:29And I say hello
15:30to someone.
15:31So I think that,
15:33I don't know,
15:35it just,
15:35just,
15:36it seems to go
15:36hand in hand.
15:37And now with a few
15:39other projects
15:39I've got going,
15:40there may be,
15:40it may get more of that.
15:43So we'll see.
15:44I don't know.
15:44Yeah.
15:44I mean,
15:45I don't know.
15:46Is that,
15:46that's a compliment?
15:46I don't see many
15:49rock stars interview,
15:50you know,
15:50being followed around
15:52by the Pop Roxy
15:53with,
15:53you know,
15:53pictures of you
15:54in the ocean and stuff.
15:55You know what I'm saying?
15:55Like,
15:56like you do.
15:56Right,
15:57right.
15:57Yeah,
15:57yeah,
15:57yeah.
15:58And with all your abs
15:58and stuff.
15:59And by the way,
16:00screw the abs.
16:01I mean,
16:01screw the abs.
16:04You know,
16:04the problem is
16:05some of those pictures,
16:06like,
16:06I don't know if they're there.
16:07If I knew they're there,
16:07I'd try and get the angle better.
16:10Like inadvertently
16:11be like in a crunch pose,
16:13like just relax,
16:14but looking like,
16:15like I've had a couple
16:16where I've sat,
16:17I'm like,
16:17that's not fair to print that.
16:19That's patently
16:20a terrible angle.
16:21But,
16:21you know,
16:21sometimes with those paparazzi,
16:23they either get the really
16:25amazing shots.
16:26We're like,
16:26okay,
16:26cool.
16:27You know,
16:27I'm glad I didn't drink beer
16:29for three days
16:30because I like tongue down a bit.
16:32Or they get like a really,
16:34like,
16:34you know,
16:35they're just like us,
16:36you know,
16:36the sandwiches fall as they eat them.
16:38You know what I mean?
16:38You're like.
16:41Yeah.
16:41Every time I see the picture,
16:42I'm like,
16:43that guy's got abs.
16:43Why can't I get abs?
16:44I'm on my Peloton
16:45playing hockey all the time.
16:46But anyway,
16:47so final player.
16:49Oh,
16:49wow.
16:49You're a hockey player in Detroit.
16:51I knew.
16:52Yeah,
16:53that I went to see the Red Wings
16:55a few times.
16:59I enjoy that.
17:00I like.
17:01Yeah.
17:02Yeah.
17:03Did you know any of those guys
17:03or no?
17:05Well,
17:05I met them all.
17:06Yeah,
17:06because I was friendly
17:07with Sergei.
17:09Oh,
17:10yeah.
17:10Yeah,
17:10for sure.
17:11Yeah.
17:12And I met them all.
17:13Who was the captain?
17:14When I went to meet them all,
17:15who was the captain?
17:17Steve Iserman.
17:18Yes.
17:19And I met him
17:19and when I met all the guys
17:21and I see them up close,
17:22they've all got like,
17:23like,
17:24this is like scarred up,
17:25like,
17:25like,
17:26wow.
17:27And then you get like smacked
17:28in the face
17:29and his eyes come out
17:30and I go,
17:31oh my God,
17:32it's going to be all right.
17:32And he pops out,
17:33gets a quick stitch,
17:34comes back on
17:35and these guys
17:35are made of steel.
17:36And I learned something
17:37from them
17:38when I went to see
17:39with Sergei
17:40when he took me back
17:41and we hung out
17:43when he was over there
17:44in Detroit.
17:46We ended up hanging out
17:47a lot
17:48and friendly with him
17:49and he was dating
17:50Anna Kornikova
17:51and all that stuff.
17:53And I learned
17:54the first time ever,
17:55I went to the back
17:56after the game
17:58and there was a room
17:59full of like 30 bikes
18:01and all the guys
18:02were on the bike
18:03doing the lactic acid
18:05reduction,
18:07you know?
18:07And I learned that
18:08for I nick that
18:09from ever since
18:10when you go through
18:10that strenuous workout
18:11because I'm a big tennis player
18:14that just,
18:14you know,
18:15you've really been,
18:15you know,
18:15two,
18:16three,
18:16four hours.
18:17You've got to get on that bike,
18:18get rid of that lactic acid.
18:2020 minutes,
18:21no resistance.
18:22That's all that is.
18:23You just see otherwise
18:23next day,
18:24whoo,
18:25you know,
18:25on the bike.
18:26I learned that
18:27from the Detroit Redlands.
18:29Well,
18:29a final thing here
18:30for me,
18:30we'll let you go.
18:31You just mentioned it,
18:31your other projects coming up.
18:33What else can you talk about?
18:35Well,
18:35I have my,
18:36I'm hopefully,
18:37I've been trying to make
18:38this cooking show,
18:39this interview show
18:40for a while now
18:41and I think I'm just
18:42doing the deal
18:43so it may be
18:43a little premature
18:44to talk about
18:45but I should be recording
18:46that in November
18:47so that's exciting
18:49to do that
18:49and weird
18:50and
18:52and I'm really
18:54I had a fashion
18:55label.
18:56Basically,
18:57a number of years ago
18:58I tried to invent
18:59some jobs
18:59that I didn't have
19:00to leave town for
19:01and it's taken
19:02a few years
19:03for them.
19:04I dropped the
19:04clothing line
19:05because it got
19:06too expensive
19:07and then I met
19:08someone who
19:08now wants to
19:09help me resurrect it
19:11so I'm kind of
19:12doing that
19:12and I'm doing
19:13the cooking
19:13but I've got
19:14the record
19:15as the main thing
19:16obviously
19:16and there's lots
19:18of things going on
19:19and it's like
19:19a bubbling
19:20stockpot.
19:22I got you.
19:22Any acting?
19:25No.
19:26No.
19:27You know,
19:27they just come along.
19:28It's like
19:29the buses in England.
19:30You just stand there
19:31and you don't know
19:32what's happening
19:32and suddenly
19:32three things come along
19:34so patiently waiting.
19:36I did do a few auditions
19:37I didn't get
19:37which was annoying
19:38but
19:39no,
19:41I haven't got much time now.
19:42I'm pretty booked
19:43until
19:44December
19:45really.
19:47Well,
19:47until February really
19:48so
19:48so anyway
19:50but I'm not
19:50you know
19:50when Scorsese calls
19:52the rest of you
19:53all are like
19:53you know what I mean
19:54I'm going to have
19:54to talk to you later.
19:56Nice.
19:56Well Gavin
19:57the Artist Survival
19:58comes out on October 7th
19:59of course
19:59we'll see here
20:00in a few weeks
20:00with Alison Chains
20:01and Frankie Benjamin
20:02and it's always
20:03always great to talk to you
20:04thank you for the time.
20:05I've got to tell you
20:05it's always great
20:06to come to Detroit
20:07some of the best
20:08probably the best place
20:09in America to play
20:10it's what reminds me
20:11the most of
20:12almost like Portuguese
20:14or Brazilian audiences
20:15I don't know
20:16what is in the water there
20:17I don't know
20:18what you guys eat
20:19that does this
20:19but it is a fierce
20:21audience
20:23fierce
20:24like
20:24when everyone's
20:26like jacked up
20:26to come to Detroit
20:27I'm not
20:28I'm not
20:30I did not say that
20:31to every station
20:31I talk to
20:32like the same time
20:33there's only one Detroit
20:34there's only one Detroit
20:36well that's true
20:36and I guess
20:37to quote Ted Nugent
20:38we work hard
20:39and play hard
20:39I think that's
20:40kind of what makes
20:40everyone's working
20:41so hard
20:41and when it's time
20:42to play
20:42it's time to play
20:43I don't know
20:44if Ted Nugent
20:45actually owns
20:46that phrase
20:46he's allowed
20:47to repeat it
20:48I'll have to ask him
20:51Gavin thanks again
20:52don't give me
20:52trouble with Ted
20:53we'll see you
20:56in a few weeks
20:57thanks so much
20:57all right
20:58thanks a lot
20:58all the best man
20:59thank you
