00:00It's Jeff and Amy in the morning with the Carly Pearce from our favorite.
00:04Hey!
00:05Okay, so we gotta go back, we gotta go back.
00:07We saw you at Stoney's and you were like gleaming here in Vegas
00:11because you're like, guys, this is like, I'm like doing this on my own.
00:14This is my show, this is my location.
00:15Gleaming, I like that.
00:16Of course, ACM, new female artist.
00:19And then now you're nominated for female artist of the year.
00:22I know, I don't know.
00:24Are you living in a dream right now?
00:25I know, honestly.
00:26And I feel like it's, obviously it's taken so long, right?
00:29But I feel like it's so quick, like so quick, you know,
00:32it's like so long the past four years have just flown by
00:35and everything just gets bigger and better for you.
00:37It's the last year has been really wild in the best way.
00:40Yeah, I love it.
00:41Yeah.
00:41So for you, when you found out you were nominated,
00:44what was your first thought that went through your head?
00:47Holy moly.
00:48I mean, truly, it was just like, oh my God, wow, four nominations.
00:51You've dreamt of just being considered for anything.
00:54Just let you in the door as an artist.
00:56Yeah.
00:56So who, how does that process go?
00:59Do you read it online?
01:00Do your people call you?
01:02They come out.
01:02We all kind of see it in the time that you, as a fan, see it.
01:06So it was just like, I was on a flight and I was like, hurry up Twitter.
01:10Oh, wow.
01:11I was like, ah.
01:12I freaked out.
01:13And so you were in the air?
01:14Yeah, I was in the air.
01:15I feel like I'm in the air a lot for those things.
01:17And I'm just like.
01:18You're like looking at strangers.
01:20You're like, I just can't get good Wi-Fi.
01:22And you're just like, refresh.
01:23Dang it.
01:23Yeah.
01:24So who'd you call first?
01:26Well, I was with my band.
01:27So that was kind of fun.
01:27I'm going to call my mom.
01:28Yeah, of course.
01:29That's awesome.
01:29That's so sweet.
01:31So what are you doing in Vegas?
01:32So obviously, but are you eating?
01:35Are you going to shows?
01:35I drank too much last night.
01:37I'll tell you that.
01:37What did you do?
01:38That's the theme.
01:39I freaking played a show.
01:40And Lauren, Elena, and Ashley and I had too much fun.
01:45Yeah.
01:45Well, y'all looked really, really good.
01:46Thanks.
01:46You looked great.
01:47That was pre.
01:48I think I'd only had like a bottle at that point.
01:50But then it kept going.
01:51And then I woke up this morning.
01:52I was like, oh, God.
01:52You got to tell.
01:53You're not drinking two buck check anymore, right?
01:55No.
01:56I mean, I still am.
01:57But I will.
01:58I'll drink anything that's red.
01:59I don't care.
01:59I'm sure by the end of that, I was drinking like one cent of wine.
02:03Right.
02:04I don't think it was good.
02:05I don't care.
02:05It takes like silver.
02:06It doesn't matter.
02:07Box wine.
02:08It all works.
02:09Once you get to like a certain level, it doesn't matter.
02:12Absolutely.
02:12I'm with you.
02:13Yeah.
02:13You know what I love about Carly Pierce is I feel like very much I've seen Carly since
02:17day one when we started in country music four years ago.
02:20You were at Gillies doing a free show.
02:22I remember.
02:22A free show.
02:23And now you're where you are.
02:25And you're the same person, though.
02:27That's like the coolest thing is like you haven't changed a bit even though you've seen
02:32this meteoric rise in four years from playing free shows in a bar in Vegas.
02:36To now being nominated for female artist of the year.
02:39It's super cool.
02:40Honestly, of all the things you could say to me, like obviously you can say things about
02:44my music and that means a lot.
02:45That means a lot to me.
02:46Yeah.
02:47And I think that that's country music and artists and country music.
02:51They're so humble.
02:52Right.
02:52And everybody's family.
02:54And I think that that's a great bringing up.
02:57Right.
02:57Yes.
02:57Is there somebody that you like gravitated to that was super humble that you're like, OK,
03:01that's what I want to be when I'm at that level?
03:03I mean, I feel like just somebody that's been really good to me would be Trisha Yearwood.
03:07She's become like a big sister.
03:08Yeah.
03:08And I feel like she's remained just very, very genuine the whole way through.
03:12Yeah.
03:13The best.
03:13Well, and a lot of people have talked about you.
03:15A lot of female artists have said, oh, I, you know, I'm friends with Kelsey and Carly
03:18and they're kind of helping and teaching me along the way.
03:21So it's cool that you're now paying that forward to other artists because Trisha did it for you.
03:26That's pretty cool.
03:27That's pretty cool.
03:28Yeah.
03:28Yeah.
03:28Yeah.
03:28Yeah.
03:28Yeah.
03:28Yeah.
