00:05Time now for Military Monday on 99.5 QYK.
00:10It is Military Monday right now. It's kind of cool.
00:13We have someone who's going to recognize their cousin today.
00:15We have Angelina on the phone. Good morning, Angelina.
00:18Good morning. How are you?
00:20We are doing great. We appreciate you reaching out to us.
00:23So Dominic must be a pretty cool cousin if you're honoring him today for Military Monday.
00:27Tell us about him. How has he served our country and what we need to know about Dominic?
00:33So Dominic is 24. He enlisted in the Army at the beginning of 2021 and then left for boot camp that March.
00:40Since then, he's been to IT school and then he also did airborne school, which is kind of funny because before this, he's never been in a plane.
00:48So his first plane ride, he jumped out of one.
00:50Oh, my gosh. Really?
00:52Hey, if you're going to go for it, go for it, I guess.
00:54I guess there's nothing to be afraid of since you don't really know, huh?
00:58He had so much fun doing it.
01:00Like, he loved it, which is crazy.
01:02I wouldn't be able to do that.
01:03Yeah, I'm glad that he loved it.
01:06I mean, is he okay flying in planes that you can't jump out of?
01:09Yeah, so then for Christmas, he came home for the first time since being enlisted.
01:14And he was like, it was kind of nice being on a plane and not having to jump out of it this time.
01:18Yeah, that's when it lands, you can walk out this little jetway.
01:22Yeah, you can walk from the clouds and everything and not have to worry about landing on your feet this time.
01:27That is so cool.
01:29Well, tell me, obviously, you guys must be close because you're honoring your cousin.
01:32Tell us about your guys' relationship, you know, growing up and where it is now.
01:36We pretty much were always together growing up.
01:39We all would be at my grandma's house pretty much 24-7.
01:42So, he's kind of more like a brother to me than a cousin.
01:46And we just have, like, so much, like, fun together and so many laughs.
01:50So, it's been so weird not having him around so much.
01:53But we're all so proud of him for what he's doing and all he's accomplished so far and what he's going to accomplish in the future.
01:59I bet.
01:59Now, do you, does he keep close contact with you then while he's out serving?
02:04Yeah, so we have actually been able to go see him quite a few times.
02:08We've been to all of his graduations and everything, which is really cool to see.
02:12And then, now he's able to, like, actually talk to us because he just started his actual job as an IT specialist.
02:18So, now we can go visit him kind of more often than we could when he was in boot camp and all that.
02:24Now, Angelina, let's say you're at home.
02:26You're having problems with your computer.
02:28You call your cousin and say, hey, I need some help.
02:29You're an IT guy.
02:31Yeah, so now he can help me with that kind of stuff.
02:33Very nice.
02:34Well, listen, because we want to say thank you, we actually have purchased two passes for you guys to go skydiving together, Angelina.
