02:06At the end of the day, you're out there to race, you know, whether it's teammate or not, you're out there to do the same job, so my aim is to win, get a good start and just get my head down, that's all I can ask for really, and yeah, just minimise mistakes and just push to the end.
02:23I focus the most on a good start, I don't have a lot of starting experience, so it's going to be tough, but the one in China was pretty good, so second time front row, and yeah, I hope I can repeat this.
02:43There we hear from our top three, Alice, what challenge lays ahead for Emma Felbermayer as we see her leading us up to pole position for the first time, long straights around the circuit, as you mentioned, no DRS, what does she have to do to keep hold of that lead?
03:04So first challenge is getting temperature up into these Pirelli tyres, track temperature's at 56, it's a little bit cooler than what it was in qualifying yesterday, but very similar to what it was in free practice, so getting temperature into the tyres and then getting that launch spot on, pretty much most of the drivers will preload the clutch just to get that extra launch when they go off the line as they're approaching into the final corner now.
03:30So if Emma gets that launch, gets that start, she then needs to focus on just nailing those exits, because as we said, there's some very long straights out here, and then she hopes that they start scrapping behind, which will be, you know, delight to her, and then she can pull away, but it's never as simple as that, Chris.
03:47Tina Hausman, the only returning driver in the top five, she's got a good opportunity today, she just missed out on the podium the last race of last season, she's going to have to use that experience here to try and get after that leader.
03:58Experience is key, making sure that you're aware of your surroundings and that bottleneck going into turn one, and no doubt I expect we'll probably see a few cars being edged off and taking to the escape road, essentially, and cutting the track.
04:13I know that the race directors will be pretty hot on checking in to see who's doing what and who gets a penalty or not.
04:23As they're pulling up, they'll line their front wheel up just with the yellow line that you can see, which is either side of the grid box.
04:30That's basically for the driver to make sure that they get that wheel in line and they're not overshooting their grid box.
04:36So, pretty much all cars are on grid, I think we just had a staller, didn't we, that was our wild card, and it looks like she's not got back into position before the first safety car line won, so there may be a penalty incoming there.
04:53Points to the top eight, 13 laps ahead of us, this is round two, race one of F1 Academy, there is the green flag at the back of the field, to the right of screen, Ella Lloyd, to the left of screen, Emma Felbermayer, we are go for race one of round two here at Jeddah.
05:09Great launch for Ella Lloyd, and she is going to go straight to the lead as we go down towards turn one for the first time, Alba Larson in the Tommy Hilfiger livery going wheel-to-wheel there with Red Bull Racing's Alisha Palmowski for third place.
05:23It's Palmowski who wins that first battle, but it's McLaren-backed Ella Lloyd who's going to lead into turn four for the first time, and she is just ahead of Emma Felbermayer with Alisha Palmowski in third half.
05:36All clean through the first few couple of corners, a great launch by Ella Lloyd as well, and Alisha Palmowski, we'll check on a replay in a moment, she started all the way down in fifth place, so a fantastic launch from her, Emma riding the kerb a bit too much on the exit, so here's the tow effect, well all the cars dipping in the slipstream, as we've got Nobles having a look on the outside of Joanne Giaconte, and the Haas of Courtney Crone having a look on Raffaella Ferreira as well.
06:05Nina Gaben, she might be carrying an injury this weekend, but she is going straight after Donnie and Pan as well, she is in the pink Alpine livery, and she is trying to get past the Mercedes-Benz back Donnie and Pan, who led every single lap here last year, so we already have a new leader at Jeddah,
06:22and it is Ella Lloyd who is going after this race win early on, and Alisha Palmowski trying to line up Emma Felbermayer, no DRS in F1 Academy, so we will see Alisha Palmowski trying to make this move as quickly as possible.
06:38There we can see Alva Larsen running wide and in the Ferrari livery, that is Maja Berg, who's going to take advantage and take fourth place.
06:45She was so close to the wall on the outside there, so that's job done for Maja, she'll now look to close the gap for Alisha Palmowski, and that's so important for these drivers that are fighting at the front end of the championship.
06:58How crucial these points are to gather, you get of course less points for the reverse grid race, but still they need to try and make their way further up the field as much as they can,
07:09as we see Nina Gaidman side by side with Chloe Chambers, she's just snuck over the pit lane line there, so we'll keep an eye out if anything comes up on our screen,
07:19but Alisha Palmowski's on the attack of Emma Felbermayer, decides to have a look round the outside, Emma's nice and tidy on the brakes, pretty much gets the car stopped,
07:27and a nice exit, so from her ski, we'll be hoping to clear Emma as quickly as possible, because now she'll be looking in her mirrors and go,
07:34uh-oh, we've got a Ferrari of Maja Berg approaching.
07:36And not only that, look at the gap building on the timing tower to your left, it is 1.8 now to Ella Lloyd, and Tina Hausman will have that same feeling you talked about in the mirrors,
07:45she can see a Mercedes all over the back of her, and that is Dodie M-Pan who's trying to make places, Dodie M-Pan has to make this move quickly,
07:53because Chloe Chambers has gone by Nina Gaidman, and she's closed this gap down, Alice, this is now a three-way battle for sixth place.
08:00It certainly is, and I think we could get an even more of a battle for second place as well, you see Alba Larsson,
08:05she's tagging on to the back of her teammate Maja Berg, Tina Hausman as well, she's, uh, she matched her qualifying best of finishing
08:12and in sixth place in qualifying yesterday, so she's not a driver to finish on the podium yet,
08:17but there's plenty of opportunities, uh, as we go towards, uh, the, the middle part of the race for Dodie M-Pan down in seventh,
08:24not had the best of starts, she gained no places, uh, she's had 11 consecutive top five finishes in the series so far,
08:31so she'll be hoping to continue that record as she sees her championship rival, one behind her, and one a couple of places in front.
08:38And Dodie M-Pan knows how to finish in the points, it's what she always does in this series, up towards turn 22 we go,
08:45a corner that has been catching drivers out across every single category this weekend, and Dodie M-Pan, that's a good run,
08:51we could see a move incoming here to the final corner, Dodie M-Pan right in the slipstream of Tina Hausman,
08:58is she going to make this move, Tina Hausman I think can see, Dodie M-Pan is right behind her, will she go defensive,
09:04here we go, watch for the Mercedes, watch for the Aston Martin, there they are side by side, but up ahead,
09:09it's a change for P2, Alicia Palmowski down the inside of Emma Felbermeyer, and that is a change for second
09:15place, but Felbermeyer trying to fight back on the exit, Dodie M-Pan did go by Hausman in the background.
09:21Yeah, Emma Felbermeyer's going to try and get the toe from Alicia Palmowski, who's gone defensive,
09:27and a look around the outside already with the benefit of a better exit and a toe too by Amaya Vorg,
09:32she's already on the back, right on the back of Alicia Palmowski, as we look back now, this has
09:37brought everybody into the fight for this podium position, and just looking in the background as
09:43well, Tina Hausman was able to keep that place from Dorian Pan. Yeah, she went around the outside
09:47on the brakes at turn one, great driving from Tina Hausman, oh no, it goes from bad to worse for Leah
09:53Block, she is stationary on the circuit, facing in the wrong direction on the exit of turn two,
09:59non-qualifier due to a crash at the final corner, and that is now going to be a very uphill battle
10:07for Leah Block, who's had an incident at turn two.
10:10Ella Lloyd continues to stretch her legs out at the top, passes of anybody by at least three full
10:15tenths in the first sector, she'll be looking in her mirror, 2.7 seconds is the gap, but big
10:20disappointment for Leah Block. Now, Duranja Conte going through the shot there, has got a gap behind,
10:26so here's a start replay, and you could just see the absolute launch, the drive that Ella Lloyd was able to get, and Emma Felbermann knew at that point, right, got to concede, try and keep
10:35second position, as they were nice and tidy, got quite close between, looks like Maya Berg and Tina Hausman, as well as Elba Larson and Alicia Palmowski, but nice and tidy from everyone, as we were on board with Alicia, to see how she was able to capitalise, and it was Tina Hausman going to the left to defend by Elba Larson, and Alicia said, well, thank you very much, I'll brave it round the outside, and it was Tina Hausman going to the left to defend by Elba Larson, and Alicia said, well, thank you very much, I'll brave it round the out,
10:56outside, and that bravery paid off.
10:59Great driving from Alicia Palmowski, very aggressive there at the start, that's helped to get into second, let's watch the view from Dorian.
11:07Now, I think Dorian just jumped the start at the start, so yeah, let's keep focused and try to make some progress.
11:15I mean, Dorian got a couple of jump starts that were very close last year, in all honesty, and looking at that, I don't think she jumped the start, but here we go,
11:24we're going to have a look what happened to Leah Block, as there's going to be some kind of contact, well, that looks like there was probably contact from behind, I'm just going to see who that was actually with, we'll try and have a look, but the battle for second is hotting up.
11:40Yeah, and they're three wide in the background, Felbermayer Pan and Hausman Chambers with the best seat in the house, meanwhile we're side by side between Palmowski and Berg, it is still Palmowski in second in the Red Bull colours, Berg is there in third place, Berg having to take to the exit of the circuit,
11:57Gaidman is in this fight as well, and Aurelia Nobels in the Puma backyard is also joining the fight, this goes all the way back to tenth, and we have points going back to P8.
12:08So, well, we've been checking out our lovely replays, oh, that's Chloe Chong, I wonder if she was possibly have had contact with Leah Block at some point, but that's quite far around the lap,
12:20but we've got, Havrida is in the pit lane, so maybe there's a bit of contact there, but we've had a lot of positions changed, Larsen's up past Emma Felbermayer and Dorian Pan eventually made her way past Tina Hausman,
12:34she's charging now down the back of Emma Felbermayer as we've got a good battle, Aurelia Nobles as well has snuck her way up into the top ten.
12:43Well, Ella Lloyd will be hoping there is no safety cars in this race because she is 2.9 seconds clear, Dorian Pan meanwhile is going to try this move on Emma Felbermayer now past Tina Hausman,
12:58that move is secured, can she get past Emma Felbermayer next who's running in P5, we ride on board with the Mercedes driving out and there is the safety car and that is for Chloe Chong
13:10and Ella Lloyd's 2.7 second lead will be diminished.
13:16I mean there must be Devery somewhere on the circuit because it looked like Chloe Chong's car was nicely parked out the way unless there's something on track that we can't see,
13:25so that will be a huge disappointment for Ella Lloyd who's done everything correctly during this race, nailed the start, built that gap where they were all battling behind,
13:34so she's going to have to try and do it all over again, of course it's going to be a safety car restart that she's going to have to deal with,
13:40and the field will bunch up, they'll continue to weave just to keep that tyre temperature, some other drivers may elect to let the tyres take a dip in temperature before then continuing to weave later on,
13:54but it's going to continue, these battles can guarantee it, we're approaching halfway distance of the race as we look back from Alicia Palmovsi's car and there's a safety car to pick up our group of drivers.
14:06Well let's go through the top eight, we can see Lloyd Palmovsi, Berg, Larsen, Felbermeier, Pan, Hausmann and Chambers, we have a safety car out,
14:18and Chloe Chong, as you can see to the left-hand side is out.
14:23We can't win this, come on.
14:25Meyerberg, Team Radio there, now she will be looking at trying to get past Palmovsi and Lloyd straight away,
14:36as we see the drivers just behind safety car, this is going to bunch everything up, and that is why we have the safety car because we have damage to the car of Chloe Chong,
14:51who is at the side of the circuit, so we need to get that car to a safe position, and whilst that is being done we have the safety car out.
15:00I mean, she's done the correct thing, you can see an orange marker on the sides, the paint on the Armco,
15:06and that indicates to the drivers that that's a safe place and a gap in between those two barriers for the drivers to pull off, so she's managed to get to there,
15:14and obviously you can see quite heavily front damage to the right front there, so she's not able to continue to make it to the pit lane,
15:20but she looks pretty much out the way unless they feel that they need to make that even safer by dragging the car out,
15:27but she's still sat in the car, so she's not been told to hop out yet, so we'll see.
15:33The Marshalls here do a fantastic job of recovering cars, and it was quite a quick clean-up after Leah Block's incident, wasn't it, yesterday, in qualifying.
15:42So, let's see if this is going to be the replace, this is what we saw earlier, going down the inside was Leah Block on the number 25 of Joannja Conte,
15:53she's had contact behind, I expect that's going to be Chloe Chong, and Chloe did quite a good job to drag that car all the way round,
16:00here we go, no, I'm totally wrong, it was Courtney Crone.
16:04Yeah.
16:05Here's another look at it.
16:11I got involved in the action, couldn't avoid it.
16:16So it's avoiding action, so that's really, and you can see, it's already badly damaged.
16:22Really unlucky for Chloe Chong, as the Charlotte Tilbury car unfortunately out of the race with damage,
16:30but her teammate, they've both run in the road and motorsport team.
16:35Ella Lloyd has been doing a solid job so far, was coached by Abby Pulling, reigning champion at the test here a couple of weeks ago.
16:44We're not going to give Abby any credit though, of course.
16:47Yes, we did get a ten-second stop-go penalty for Farah Al Youssef.
16:53And that's something that we did see come up as well for a starting procedure infringement,
16:59but that gives us the explanation as to what's happened with Chloe Chong.
17:04And now we get ready for what has got to be, Alice, one of the toughest restarts of the season here at Jeddah.
17:13You've got this long start-finish straight, and Ella Lloyd I'm sure already will be going through this in her head,
17:21how she's going to approach this.
17:23Yeah, I'm sure she would have done. I've watched Dorian Pan's restarts from last year,
17:28because we had a couple of safety car restarts, and Dorian nailed every single one of them last year.
17:33So it can be done. She was able to fend off Abby Pulling to take two race wins.
17:39Of course, then she took the Tekken flag twice, so got a penalty in the second race.
17:44And that's the road in motorsport team we just saw watching on there at Zimba, who was Abby's engineer last year,
17:51Ella Lloyd's engineer this year, and a sad sight for Chloe Chong.
17:56And unfortunately, the drivers are instructed to keep their helmets on.
18:00So that's why Chloe's not just sat there baking out of choice.
18:04The drivers are told they have to keep their helmets on, and it's not pleasant.
18:08It must be said after sweating and working hard in the car to then stop and be sat there in 30 degree heat
18:16with your helmet on for at least probably another good 20, 25 minutes.
18:21Not at all. Going back to Ella Lloyd, Alicia Palmowski, coming into the weekend,
18:28is this part of their preparation that they would have done preparing for this,
18:32either leading the safety car train, being second, going through that with team members?
18:37Is this something they would have done?
18:38Yeah, I'd be shocked if they didn't.
18:41Every driver will have watched, of course, the races from last year.
18:44They've done plenty of testing here.
18:46They would have known the better places to go, the better places to bring their tyres in,
18:53places to avoid where there might be a bit more pickup.
18:57And we can see Susie Wolfe, Managing Director of F1 Academy,
19:01watching on, plays obviously a massive role in supporting all of these female drivers,
19:07past and present, always giving them plenty of advice and help from her fantastic career
19:14that she had. But yeah, they would have gone through, done their homework.
19:19Some maybe would have gone into a bit more detail than others.
19:22And I'm sure the teams would have passed on plenty of information as well.
19:27One thing to also note, race drivers, the race directors instructions are no weaving permitted
19:34on the entrance of turn 27 when the safety car eventually does come in.
19:38So that is entrance to the final corners.
19:40That's something that we can also look out for as well.
19:44Yeah, we've had some great performances in the race so far.
19:47Alicia Palmowski has made her way through from fifth up to second.
19:51Donnie Pan trying to fight through.
19:54She's up in six.
19:55Maya Verg has come from P6 to P3.
19:57We've got that fight just down towards the back end of the point scorers.
20:01Hausmann is in seventh.
20:03Chambers in eighth.
20:04And then just outside, Nina Gabeman is there in P9.
20:08She's driving very well considering the circumstances this weekend.
20:12Aurelia Nobels in P10.
20:15That rounds out your top ten so far.
20:17And then Rafaela Ferreira next.
20:19And here we go.
20:20We're getting ready for the safety car restart next.
20:24Of course, it is a long lap round here.
20:26So plenty of time now for Ella Lloyd to prepare herself for this restart.
20:32Likewise for Alicia Palmowski to prepare her attack.
20:35Alicia knows that she's got to try and get past Ella as quickly as possible
20:39because then that will help minimize the attack that she will get from behind
20:44because it looks like in the stages before the safety car
20:47that Maiva just had the legs on Alicia in terms of pace.
20:51But they'll know that it's important to pick up as many championship points as possible
20:57because that could all count in the final stages when we come to Las Vegas
21:01at the end of the season, which will be our final round of the F1 Academy for this year.
21:07Excuse me.
21:09Safety car has a chance to reset.
21:11Put some pressure on Larson ahead.
21:17Yeah, and that's the exact advice for all the drivers.
21:21Good chances for Donnie Mparn as well because she's leading the championship.
21:25Five points behind her when the two points for Pole are given to Chambers now
21:29are the likes of Verg and Chambers.
21:31So she'll want to get after Verg as we get ready for this restart.
21:34She will.
21:35It's going to allow, if it stays like this, they'll like to be pretty much level on points.
21:41So Ella Lloyd has backed the field right up now.
21:44And you can see riding on boards with Alicia Palmowski there.
21:48She was just making sure she was in the right gear, not being distracted by Ella's weaving.
21:54And they should, as they all approach into turn 27, make sure that they do stop the weaving.
22:01Ella continuing, brought the pace down very, very slowly as they all start to form up.
22:07Don't want to be near gear too high and you don't want to be gear too low.
22:09You've got to find that absolute sweet spot.
22:14Ella Lloyd.
22:15Ella Lloyd has got the car rotated and she's put the hammer down.
22:21We are back underway and racing in F1 Academy this race one of round two.
22:27And we are back green once again.
22:29Ella Lloyd leads us over the line as we go on to lap eight of 13.
22:33Alicia Palmowski in second.
22:35Our championship leader in the Mercedes livery car there.
22:38Dottie and Pan going to the outside of Emma Felbermeyer.
22:41Are we going to see an immediate change?
22:43Yes, we are.
22:44Change for P5.
22:45Dottie and Pan trying to get after her championship rivals.
22:48Maja Verg up ahead.
22:50And that has caused more changes in the background.
22:53Tina Hausmann in the Aston Martin livery there goes by Emma Felbermeyer.
22:57Or does she?
22:58She just hangs onto it.
22:59Nina Gaidman in the Alpine livery trying to get by Chloe Chambers,
23:03who will be on pole tomorrow.
23:05So great fight as we get back underway in racing.
23:08Maja Verg had a look down the inside of Alicia Palmowski.
23:11Just wasn't enough to make it stick.
23:13And you could see gaps slightly opened there between Tina Hausmann and Dorian Pan.
23:19So Dorian is right up with this front group, but a great restart by Ella Lloyd.
23:22But we'll see what the race directors think of that weaving going into the final corner.
23:28On the notes, it said you cannot weave into the entrance of 27.
23:32And she certainly was doing that.
23:33So we'll see what judgment that they take there.
23:36We certainly will.
23:37She's had a good restart though.
23:38That aside, hasn't she?
23:39She's eight tenths clear.
23:41And now we go on board with Dorian Pan and the back of the car moving for Alba Larsson.
23:45And look at the effect there.
23:46Dorian Pan has the run here.
23:48Going up to turn 22.
23:49Is she going to be brave enough to make a move?
23:51Door slammed shut in her face by Alba Larsson.
23:54Dorian Pan trying to get fourth place.
23:56The top three are escaping up the road.
23:59And just for now, she will have to sit in P5 and Alba Larsson's run wide there, Alice.
24:03Yeah, it's going to really hamper her exit.
24:05We've seen plenty of cars run wide at turn 22.
24:07Alba Larsson was able to pretty much keep it on the track and avoid going over that really aggressive exit curb and entry of 23.
24:14So she's elected to hug the inside.
24:17Dorian Pan's going to be forced to go around the outside.
24:20It's all looking pretty even, Stevens, for the top three.
24:23As actually, I think that gap's come down to Ella Lloyd between Palmosky.
24:26It certainly has.
24:27It's down to half a second.
24:29Chloe Chambers all over the back of Emma Felbermeyer as well, trying to get the switch back.
24:34But this, our main focus for the time being, it is Dorian Pan versus young Alba Larsson,
24:41the 16-year-old up towards the first corner.
24:44They go and Dorian Pan filling the mirrors of Alba Larsson, who is not folding under the pressure at all.
24:50Just leaves a bit of room on the inside there.
24:53Dorian Pan now trying to get past, but she is not able to find a way through at the moment.
24:58This is great defense from Alba Larsson.
25:00Very good defense from Alba.
25:02Our second youngest driver on the grid, Pan Radio.
25:06She's moving under time.
25:08So Dorian not particularly happy with the defense of Alba Larsson.
25:13I'll be pointing to possible moving under braking.
25:16So that's been reported.
25:17The drivers know that the race directors are listening in to the radio message.
25:21But that's allowed Tina Hausmann to come up to the back of this battle.
25:25Chloe Chambers has snuck her way through Emma Felbermeyer.
25:28Nina Gaidman now is all on the back of her.
25:30Going to have a look down the inside into turn 13.
25:33Emma closes the door.
25:34A small lockup from Nina Gaidman.
25:36So Emma manages to keep the vision.
25:38A big slide there, Chris, from Chloe Chambers with these hot temperatures.
25:43That's the last thing you want to do that will really damage the surface of the tire.
25:47But she'll be looking to still close that gap.
25:50So we've got battles wherever we look throughout the field.
25:52We've also got a battle there.
25:54You can see from the number 25 and 18, that's Rafael Ferreira and Joandra Conte.
26:00Yeah, this is for the last point as well.
26:02It is being led by Felbermeyer in the Sauber livery.
26:05But we go back to this battle once again.
26:07Dorian Pan not happy with Alba Larsson's defense.
26:11But Alba Larsson is still there in P4.
26:14The Premier Racing team watching on to see if Pan can make this move.
26:19Larsson for now is holding strong in P4.
26:22What about into this hairpin down at turn 27?
26:26Dorian Pan, is she going to find a gap on the inside?
26:29She is this time.
26:30There she goes down the inside.
26:32And our championship leader is up to P4,
26:34but now has to try and hold Alba Larsson up down this long start finish straight, Alice.
26:39Yeah, you can just see from that onboard how effective the toe is.
26:42So Alba Larsson's had no choice but to duck out of it already before we even cross the start finish line.
26:47Gap at the front is down to under half a second.
26:49Ella Lloyd's soaking up all the pressure.
26:51Maya Birb's gone down the inside of Alicia Palmosky.
26:53Just not enough to take the position.
26:56Alba Larsson's attacking Dorian Pan.
26:58That's allowed Tina Hausmann to come and join the battle.
27:02She could possibly get her best result in F1 Academy if she's able to sneak past Larsson.
27:07But this battle is really continuing.
27:10Ella Lloyd doing a great job soaking up all the pressure.
27:13And Alicia not having, not over defending, almost knowing that the move is going to be made by Meyerberg down the inside,
27:20but knowing that she can hang it round the outside of turn one that will then give her the inside for turn two.
27:25It's a great three way fight.
27:27Likewise in the background, as you said, Tina Hausmann is right there as well.
27:30It was almost as if Larsson let Dorian Pan through because she knew she would get the run on the exit.
27:36But look at the pace of Dorian Pan.
27:38Now she is through.
27:39She's already broken clear by over a second.
27:41That's Courtney Crone.
27:42We saw her make contact earlier in the race, which eventually led to that safety car.
27:48She made contact with Leah Block and she's now into pit lane.
27:52Meanwhile, this is the battle for the top three, Alice, and they've been exchanging fastest sector times.
27:57The gap has been going up and down between eight tenths to four tenths.
28:01And now it's a four tenths.
28:02Let's look back at this move.
28:03So Dorian forced her to defend and then Albert decided not to continue that defense.
28:09And Dorian said, well, thank you very much up the inside.
28:11She went, made the move stick, was then under immense pressure going down into turn one,
28:16or was able to keep that move.
28:18Alicia Palmaski now is closing, closing, closing down this gap to Ella Lloyd.
28:23Mayer Berg has dropped back ever so slightly.
28:27There's the confirmation of a tenth second time penalty for Courtney Crone, who we just saw in the pits there.
28:32So Ella on the brakes, had a little bit of a lock up.
28:35She's run possibly a bit wide.
28:37So she's going to be under more even immense pressure as she heads down.
28:41This is the closest there has been so far in terms of time-wise between these three drivers.
28:47Two purple sectors in the background as well for Dorian Pan.
28:50She's about to set the fastest lap and does.
28:52That is an extra point in the back for her.
28:54Over the line, down to turn one we go.
28:56And look at the gap.
28:57It's down to under two and a half seconds.
28:59If a fight starts here, it could become between four drivers.
29:03Ella Lloyd dealing very well with this pressure.
29:06She has got Alicia Palmowski and Mayer Berg in the background.
29:10And Dorian Pan is just hoping that it all kicks off up ahead.
29:14Oh, wide there for Perella Lloyd.
29:16That's going to hamper her exit, but luckily we're in this roller section.
29:19I'm out of corners, so it's slightly harder for the drivers to follow.
29:24Let's have a look with Nina Gaidman.
29:27She's on the back of Emma Felbermeyer.
29:29Is she going to elect to go to the left, the right?
29:31She's forced to go to the right-hand side.
29:33And that will be then who's latest, who's bravest on the brakes, able to get the car stopped.
29:39I expect Elba Felbermeyer will bleed back into picture at some point.
29:42No, she doesn't.
29:43So nice move by Nina.
29:45Great stuff.
29:46If she can get a point, that will be a heroic performance given her circumstances.
29:51Pan was a second quicker than Ella Lloyd.
29:55There she goes through shots.
29:56So we'll keep an eye on her in this one as she set the fastest lap.
30:00Just watch that timing tower to your left.
30:02But what about this move?
30:03Is it incoming?
30:04Is Alicia Palmowski being patient here, Alice, for the final laps?
30:08Or is it a case of Ella Lloyd is just not making any mistakes and giving her any opportunities?
30:14What about Dorian Pan?
30:15Does she have time to catch up?
30:17She does.
30:18And she's much quicker than all of these drivers in front in the first sector.
30:21So Dorian, I expect, will be on the back of this battle really very soon.
30:27But Alicia, she's a smart driver.
30:29She's a patient driver.
30:31She was our race winner of our first reverse grid race at the start of the year.
30:34But she's going to be under immense pressure now.
30:36Having to defend from Maia Vogt.
30:38She defends.
30:39Going to get the car stopped.
30:40But Ella's going to be pleased to see this battle in her mirror.
30:44That's going to allow her to then continue to open up the gap up front.
30:48But already Alicia being forced to defend.
30:50And she keeps to the right side of the pit lane line that are not allowed to cross.
30:54But Maia's got a very good run, Chris.
30:56She's going to get the benefit of the toe from Ella Lloyd as well.
30:58Here we go.
30:59Change for a second.
31:00Maia Berg, as Adler said, will get that toe from Ella Lloyd.
31:04And will take second place deeper on the brakes as well.
31:07That was brave stuff from Maia Berg.
31:09And Alicia Palmowski has no choice but to concede position.
31:14And now as she takes a look in the mirrors, she will see championship leader incoming, Dorian Pan.
31:20There she is.
31:21She has sent another fastest lap.
31:232.052 for Dorian Pan.
31:262.058 for Ella Lloyd out front.
31:29But Ella Lloyd, with that small battle, now has a lead of one second with less than two laps to go.
31:35Oh, Dorian really pushing, getting out of shape as she went through that section of corners.
31:40What added benefit if she does keep fastest lap, that will be one point which could be crucial for later on in the season.
31:47Ella's made the jump.
31:48She's just set a personal best for her during this race in sector one.
31:53Bruno Michel is watching on, having a chat to Susie, F2 and F3 CEO.
31:58And that's eventually where all these drivers racing in this field, eventually where they want to go up into one of Bruno's championships.
32:06They certainly do.
32:07All the teams that they're racing with, the likes of a high-tech road in Prima.
32:11They're all here with F2 this weekend.
32:13And that is the goal for all of these drivers.
32:17Come on, we are one second faster than her.
32:21Let's get them.
32:22I feel we could see a possible move immediately here.
32:27If Donin Pan can get the run on Alicia Palmowski.
32:30Let's watch her out of this section.
32:32Maja Berg, it's a case of what she can do.
32:35Can she close the gap down to Ella Lloyd?
32:37We're just watching that sector time to the left-hand side of screen.
32:41The gap is eight tenths of a second.
32:43It's down to seven.
32:44And we are going to be in for a last lap shootout here, Alice, between four drivers for the race.
32:50Welcome to F1 Academy.
32:52On to the last lap we go.
32:54And we ride on board with our championship leader.
32:56Duran Pan ducking in the toe.
32:58You can see she's trying to get perfectly behind Alicia there.
33:02And look at the effect of the toe powering up to the back.
33:05Alicia pulls over to the left-hand side to make Duran go the long way round.
33:09Is she going to have enough grip to go around the outside?
33:12No, she doesn't.
33:13But she's forced Alicia to go tight into turn two.
33:16This is going to grip her a great run up through into turn four.
33:21If she could, she'd almost be giving her the push signal.
33:23Get off to the two leaders here.
33:25Duran Pan trying to fight to get onto the podium.
33:28I tell you what, Maja Berg, this could be a last corner shootout.
33:31A run to the line between Ella Lloyd and Maja Berg
33:34because she is catching her with every corner out front.
33:37We watch this battle for third place.
33:39Who will be on the podium?
33:40Will it be Alicia Palmowski?
33:42Will it be Duran Pan as they head down towards the hairpin at turn 13?
33:46Nina Gaben's in our final points paying position.
33:49That gap has come down between Maja Berg.
33:51But is it going to be too late for the Ferrari driver to get through on Ella Lloyd?
33:56The McLaren back driver who's drove a really solid race leading pretty much from the get-go at the start of this race.
34:05Dorian has lost a little bit of pace to Alicia following in the dirty air through that section of corners that we've just gone through.
34:12But Dorian won't be given up.
34:14She's had the G up from her engineer, but we are on the final lap.
34:17We certainly are.
34:18And Ella Lloyd is responding to the place of Maja Berg on this final lap.
34:23When required, she is putting up a great defense and she's holding a gap of just over half a second,
34:30which is just enough to keep Maja Berg at bay.
34:33But what about this run down to the final corner?
34:36Can Maja Berg get close enough?
34:38Look at the run we have here for Berg.
34:40She's getting closer.
34:41She's within half a second.
34:43Will this be a case of a run to the line?
34:45Ella Lloyd, will she have to defend here because Maja Berg is closing in.
34:49She's closing in.
34:50She's filled the mirrors of Lloyd.
34:52Will Lloyd now make a mistake under this pressure?
34:54Can Maja Berg get a run out of the final corner?
34:57Drag Race to the line in coming for race one here at Jeddah.
35:01But Ella Lloyd will hold off the pressure of Maja Berg to take her first win in F1 Academy.
35:08Maja Berg on the podium in a drag race to the line.
35:12It was one tenth of a second between the pair.
35:15And behind Alicia Palmowski holds off championship leader.
35:19Dorian Pan to take her second podium in F1 Academy.
35:23Well, you wouldn't believe she's not been on the podium before,
35:26but Ella Lloyd gives McLaren their first podium here at Jeddah and takes her first win in F1 Academy.
35:33Well done Ella. Great job.
35:35She led it maturely from the start. Did the hard work.
35:38You can see celebrations for the road in motorsport team as they rack up another win in F1 Academy.
35:47Her last win was Abu Dhabi in the race two there with, of course, Abby pulling.
35:54So added to that total.
35:55And really nice to see Chloe Chong, teammate there as well, congratulating anyone, everyone.
36:00But a solid job from Ella. Let's hear from her.
36:03Good job. Great job. Well done.
36:05Yeah. Nice job.
36:07Very chilled. Very chilled radio.
36:11You've just won your first race at F1 Academy.
36:13I was going to tell you, Susie and Bruno Michelle looked a bit out of breath there.
36:15I'm out of breath as well.
36:17I don't know about you.
36:18You'd be able to have to lay down after that one.
36:20But real mature driving.
36:22She was under so much pressure was Ella all the way through that second part of the race.
36:27She nailed the start, what she needed to do.
36:29But a great drive, too, from Meyerberg coming from all the way down into sixth place.
36:35But, uh...
36:38Please do. Come on.
36:40Real true racer.
36:42Car was good.
36:44I agree. True racer.
36:46And she almost had a little look down the inside of Ella Lloyd into the final corner.
36:51I think that was more to just try and put Ella off, but wasn't able to do so.
36:56And another solid job, of course, from Alicia getting her on the podium once again.
37:02And Dorian Pan as well.
37:03She would have just hoped...
37:05Dorian, sorry, would have just wished that she possibly got a slightly better start than intended.
37:10And that could have possibly allowed her to eke up on the podium a little bit sooner.
37:15And 11th career podium in F1 Academy for Meyerberg and Alicia Parmowski.
37:20Back-to-back Race 1 podiums across both rounds.
37:24Did very well to hold off Dorian Pan.
37:26It was just two tenths of a second between them.
37:28And we've seen two very good performances there, Alice, from two drivers in their first season,
37:33holding off the experience of the likes of Meyerberg and Dorian Pan behind.
37:38Exactly. And we know how important these reverse grid races can be.
37:44Of course, any race is important in all of these championships,
37:48but these reverse grid races are added elements of risk as you're starting out position.
37:55If you've qualified on pole, you're starting all the way down in eighth place.
37:58So, you know you've got to try and keep your nose clean, but at the same time, make your way forward.
38:04The points aren't as big.
38:06You only get ten points if you win compared to the 25 if you win in race two.
38:13As our winners now coming down onto the grid.
38:17A nice crowd will be waiting to cheer them.
38:21You know you did me wrong.
38:23Just one more cup of coffee before I go.
38:27I know I better stop and cut the show.
38:31I'll leave you all the memories and go.
38:34I'ma go.
38:35Two hours conversation.
