Transcript
00:00And last, you've seen him, and you gotta believe it, right? I told you all along.
00:06Welcome to WatchMojo, and today we're counting down our picks for the plot points from television
00:11that fans anticipated years before they paid off. We won't be including any animated TV shows,
00:17as those have a separate list. Also, spoilers ahead, naturally.
00:23Number 30. Jimmy Changes His Name to Saul. Better Call Saul.
00:27Fans of Breaking Bad went into this prequel expecting Saul Goodman to be, well, Saul Goodman.
00:33However, before he became a criminal lawyer to Albuquerque's Underworld, he went by his birth
00:38name, Jimmy McGill. At last, in the season four finale, Jimmy delivers a moving speech at a
00:44hearing to have his law license reinstated. I mean, look at me. I'll never be as moral as him.
00:50I'll never be as smart. I'll never be as respected. I'll never be as good as Chuck.
01:00He extols his late brother Chuck's virtues, and claims he hopes to live up to the name McGill.
01:05However, after they reinstate him, Jimmy reveals to Kim that he didn't mean a word of it,
01:10and that he's going to be practicing under a new name. He's finally Saul Goodman,
01:15and he's worse for it. I'm going to need one more form. DBA, because I'm not going to be
01:21practicing under the name McGill, so. Shouldn't be a problem. Just down the hall,
01:25we have all the form. Great, great. Wait, Jimmy, Jimmy, what? It's all good, man.
01:31Number 29. Luke and Lorelai Kiss. Gilmore Girls. These two have been dancing around each other and
01:38their mutual feelings from essentially the very beginning of this show, but something always seems
01:43to get in the way to stop them getting together. But in the season four finale, Luke has had enough.
01:49I'm not a mysterious man, am I? Well, the wardrobe's a bit of a head-scratcher.
01:52I think I've been very, very clear with my intentions. You know, the wedding, the movie,
01:56invite the flowers. Luke, what? You knew what I was doing. After a misunderstanding involving
02:02Lorelai's ex, the two engage in a heated confrontation at the inn. Luke makes his intentions clear,
02:08and finally makes his move. What are you doing? Will you just stand still?
02:13Both of them ask the other to stand still, and this romantic moment made our hearts stand still,
02:25or at least skip a few beats. Number 28. The Elevator Working. The Big Bang Theory.
02:31The characters in this nerdy sitcom may not be athletes, but they certainly get a lot of exercise.
02:36The elevator in their apartment building is forever broken by them as it happens,
02:41forcing them to take the stairs throughout the show's 12-season run.
02:45Okay, so basically you're the reason I have to walk up and down three flights of stairs every day?
02:48So I did something stupid. I'm sure you did stupid things when you were younger. What were you doing
02:52seven years ago? While it certainly makes for a bit more dynamic conversations,
02:57it's not exactly convenient. Finally, in the series' penultimate episode,
03:01Penny surprises Sheldon and Leonard by interrupting their discussion by appearing out of the now-functional elevator.
03:07No, it's the last straw. I can't take any more.
03:14Can you believe it? They finally fixed the elevator.
03:21Sheldon may be change-averse, but for many fans, this repair was a welcome sight.
03:26Number 27. Coming Home. Star Trek Voyager. The entire premise of this Star Trek spinoff is that
03:33the titular ship is stranded in the Delta Quadrant, which is decades from Earth and the Federation.
03:39And while the show never really leaned into its own premise, how is the ship always in such good repair?
03:44The crew does attempt to find shortcuts to get home sooner.
03:4723 years together made you a family. One I'm proud to have been adopted by.
03:53So let us raise our glasses to the journey. To the journey.
03:59The finale sees one version of events play out in the future, only to be undone by time-travel shenanigans.
04:06Basically, though, the crew hijacks an ultra-fast Borg corridor to arrive home early,
04:11blowing up their cybernetic foes on the way out.
04:14Voyager also receives an honor guard of Federation ships, who finally escort them back to Earth.
04:19Their odyssey over.
04:20Set a course.
04:21At home.
04:24Number 26. Finding Out River Song's Identity.
04:28Doctor Who.
04:29One of the coolest things about Doctor Who is that the Doctor can meet people in the wrong order
04:34while traveling through time and space.
04:36Thanks.
04:37For what?
04:38The usual, for coming when I call.
04:41I thought it was you.
04:42You're doing a very good job acting like you don't know me. I'm assuming there's reason.
04:46Fairly good, weren't I?
04:47One example is River Song, a mysterious woman who knows the Doctor when he first meets her,
04:53but whom he doesn't know yet.
04:54There are a few hints dropped about who she is, but it isn't until several years after she's
04:59introduced that River's identity is revealed.
05:02A rescue attempt on the 11th Doctor's current companion, Amy, and her newborn daughter, Melody,
05:07goes awry.
05:08And Melody is kidnapped again. River only arrives after everything.
05:13She didn't help. She couldn't.
05:14After showing the Doctor who she is, she explains to Amy and Rory that she is Melody.
05:20Quite the timey-wimey reunion.
05:22It's me.
05:23I'm Melody.
05:28I'm your daughter.
05:31Number 25.
05:32Rescued.
05:33Rescue from Gilligan's Island.
05:35The 1960s sitcom Gilligan's Island ran for three seasons without the castaways of the SS
05:41Minnow being rescued from their island. And indeed, fans would have to wait over 10 years
05:46after the show's conclusion for Gilligan, Skipper, and the gang to finally depart their
05:51island in this TV movie.
05:53Hey, everybody. I got some good news.
05:55You spotted a rescue boat.
05:56No, that'd be great news. All I got is good news. Hey, we're having broiled snapper for dinner.
06:01Broiled?
06:02Uh-huh.
06:03How are you cooking it?
06:04With a fire.
06:05With a storm on its way, the group lash their huts together to make a raft, which is swept
06:10away. While aboard, Gilligan starts a fire, which leads to the U.S. Coast Guard spotting
06:15them and all of them finally going home. Of course, the film ends with them inadvertently
06:20ending up stranded on the exact same island, but it's still nice to see them in the real
06:24world while it lasts.
06:26Telegrams and calls have been pouring in. I'd like to present you with the most important
06:31one first. This telegram is from Jimmy Carter. Jimmy who?
06:38Number 24. Booth and Brennan kiss. Bones. Dr. Temperance, Bones, Brennan, and Agent Seeley
06:45Booth are one of many will-they-won't-they couples, and it naturally takes years for us
06:50to see them kiss for the first time. However, which kiss is their first depends on your definition.
06:55Chronologically, their first kiss happens in a flashback in the show's 100th episode,
06:59which flashes back to their first case together.
07:02Yeah, I just feel like, um, this is going somewhere.
07:06Why did you feel like this is going somewhere?
07:09No, I just, I feel like I'm gonna kiss you.
07:15But if we're going by air date, the duo first kisses under a mistletoe set up by the
07:20enterprising Caroline in the season three Christmas episode. Regardless of which one you count,
07:25we all had the same reaction. Finally. Is that enough steamboats?
07:35Plenty. A whole flotilla. I don't know what that means, but, um, Merry Christmas.
07:42Number 23. Galactica makes it to Earth. Battlestar Galactica. Ever since the humans of the Battlestar
07:49Galactica and its fleet of ships fled the destruction of their home worlds by the Cylons,
07:54they've been in search of the near-mythical lost colony of Earth. It takes until the fourth and
07:59final season, but they do eventually get there, even if they have to work with some of the Cylons
08:04to do it. Like it or not, Lee, something's orchestrating this for a purpose.
08:12Higher power. Call it whatever you want. But it seems to want us to find Earth with the Cylons.
08:20However, despite their joyous arrival, they're horrified to discover that Earth is a
08:24dead wasteland. Despite the inhabitants being artificial, Cylon-like beings themselves,
08:30they were destroyed by their own creations just as the humans were.
08:34It's in trance.
08:36Similar, but they're not one of ours. We've never seen this design.
08:41So the 13th tribe settled here and created their own Cylons.
08:45And then the machines rose up and killed their masters.
08:47Thankfully, things are a bit more optimistic in the series finale when Galactica and company make it to
08:53our Earth. Number 22. The Red John reveal. The Mentalist. For most of the first six seasons of
09:00this crime series, serial killer Red John proves a constant thorn in the side of ex-psychic turned law
09:07enforcement consultant Patrick Jane. And that's after killing his wife and daughter.
09:11For no reason at all, you're rude and contemptuous.
09:17That's why your wife and kid are dead.
09:21Who are you to butt in here and make obnoxious judgments about me?
09:26Jane, at last, is invited to a church by one of the Red John suspects, who is promptly killed.
09:32Cue the arrival of the presumed dead Sheriff Thomas McAllister, the real Red John.
09:37His confrontation with Jane has been a long time coming, and McAllister makes the mistake of gloating
09:43and accepting breadcrumbs. Jane manages to surprise and shoot him before eventually strangling his hated
09:49foe. McAllister may have seemed an improbable suspect at first, but evil sometimes lurks amid the ordinary.
09:56Husband, it's over. It's done. I just want you to know I'm okay.
10:07I'm gonna miss you.
10:09Number 21. Selena Becomes President.
10:12Veep. American Vice President Selena Meyer spends most of the first three seasons utterly
10:18marginalized by President Stuart Hughes, who forever remains unseen. However, when his wife has a
10:24crisis in season three, the mysterious president decides to step away, making Selena the new
10:29commander-in-chief.
10:30Ma'am, you're about to become the 45th president of the United States.
10:34It's not a dress rehearsal, not a drill. You are going to be the president.
10:42Now?
10:42Selena's barely restrained joy leads to an utterly iconic scene of her gushing to her aide Gary in
10:48the bathroom. Between Gary's resulting nosebleed and the many mishaps that follow, it's quite the
10:53momentous and hilarious beginning to her presidency. It was certainly worth the wait.
10:59Oh, I got it. Here, I got it. I got it. Here, shove these in. Shove these in.
11:06We can't get it. Uh-oh.
11:09Everything all right?
11:10Number 20. Clark Kent Becomes Superman. Smallville. Smallville set a new ratings record for the WB
11:17network when it premiered in 2001. Even so, few could have anticipated that this Superman
11:23origin story would last 10 seasons. When you believe in someone, it's not for a minute.
11:28Or just for now. It's forever.
11:32Throughout that decade, the series covered many classic Superman story arcs, albeit without Superman.
11:38While it's repeatedly foreshadowed that Clark Kent will become the Man of Steel,
11:43he doesn't receive his iconic red and blue suit until the series finale.
11:48Always hold on to smallville.
12:03Even then, CGI is primarily used to portray Superman in the climax.
12:07In the final shot, Tom Welling unbuttons his shirt to reveal the House of El symbol,
12:12but we never actually see the actor in the full Superman outfit.
12:16While this disappointed some, at least Lois and Clark are living happily ever after.
12:20Do you have them?
12:21Do you have them?
12:22You mean these?
12:25Yes.
12:30Are you ready?
12:31I've been ready for seven years.
12:34Number 19. Mary Learns That Dick's An Alien. Third Rock From The Sun.
12:39Being a professor of human behavior in societies, you'd think that Mary Albright would have been
12:44able to piece together that the eccentric Solomons are from another planet.
12:48Nevertheless, the Solomons go almost six seasons without blowing their cover to Mary.
12:53In the penultimate episode, Mary sees Dick turn Dr. Liam Neesam into a chimpanzee,
12:59compelling the alien to tell her the truth.
13:01Mary, I, Dick Solomon, am an alien.
13:08From outer space.
13:14It would have been interesting to see Dick and Mary's relationship grow from this point,
13:18but the Solomons are unfortunately called back home.
13:22Choosing not to go with them at the last second, Mary lets Dick wipe her memories before the Solomons
13:26are beamed up.
13:27I don't want to forget you.
13:29But Mary, it will protect you from hurt.
13:32What we had together will remain deep inside you, and you'll know it's there.
13:37It'll be a feeling.
13:38In an alternate ending, however, Dick comes back for Mary,
13:42even though he already erased her memories of him.
13:44I couldn't leave without you, Mary.
13:47Who the hell are you?
13:49Alien abduction!
13:51Alien abduction!
13:56Number 18.
13:58Trudy's unsolved case.
14:00Monk.
14:01Across this show's eight-season run,
14:03there wasn't a case that Adrian Monk couldn't crack.
14:06Except the one that mattered most.
14:08Who was responsible for the car bombing that killed his wife, Trudy?
14:12New pieces of the puzzle are discovered over time,
14:14but it appears Monk may go to his grave without knowing.
14:17No, this was different.
14:18She wanted me to start sleeping in the middle of the bed,
14:21and she said it won't be much longer.
14:24It's not really she said that.
14:26That's big.
14:27That's an omen.
14:28I had a premonition you were going to have an omen.
14:30Having been poisoned,
14:32Monk decides to finally open the Christmas present that Trudy left him.
14:36To his surprise, Monk and his assistant Natalie discover a videotape.
14:40On the recording, Trudy reveals that before meeting Monk,
14:43she had an affair with Ethan Rickover.
14:45Trudy became pregnant and, years later,
14:47Rickover asked her to meet him at the parking garage where she ultimately died.
14:52And I don't know, maybe, you know, maybe I'm just being paranoid.
14:56But there was just something in his voice.
15:01It just, it scared me, you know?
15:06The smoking gun was in Monk's apartment the whole time.
15:09I wanted you to know everything.
15:13Because you deserve to know everything.
15:16Adrian, you are more than the love of my life.
15:23Number 17.
15:25Niles and Daphne get together.
15:27Frasier.
15:28From the moment they first meet,
15:29it's evident that Niles harbors feelings for Frasier's housekeeper, Daphne.
15:33You're Daphne?
15:34Why, yes I am.
15:36Well, when Frasier told me he'd hired an English woman,
15:40I pictured someone a little more...
15:41Not quite so.
15:44You're Daphne?
15:46Though this is clear to everyone else,
15:48Daphne remains clueless for years.
15:50The running gag is laid to rest after Daphne becomes engaged to Donnie,
15:54and Niles decides to move on.
15:56When Frasier accidentally lets the cat out of the bag in season 7, though,
16:00it slowly dawns on Daphne that she reciprocates his feelings.
16:04After a while, I couldn't put it out of my mind anymore.
16:08I find myself thinking about him all the time.
16:11It isn't until after Niles marries his girlfriend Mel, however,
16:15that he learns of Daphne's feelings for him.
16:17What started as a simple crush spirals into a complicated love square.
16:22Although she initially commits to not going through with her wedding,
16:25Daphne's love for Niles ultimately triumphs,
16:27just not at the most convenient time.
16:29I was wondering if you might be free for a date.
16:34Oh my god, yes!
16:38There's plenty of time for that later.
16:40Let's get this bloody boat moving!
16:43Number 16. Chandler and Monica's Wedding.
16:46Friends.
16:47Although we considered including Ross and Rachel on this list,
16:50they got together almost halfway through season 2,
16:53eventually developing a revolving door relationship.
16:55As such, by the end of season 4,
16:58our interest began shifting towards Chandler and Monica.
17:01Everybody falls in love somehow.
17:05Throughout the next three seasons, their romance matured significantly.
17:09A year after they first hooked up in London,
17:11the couple almost got hitched in Vegas,
17:13only for a drunken Ross and Rachel to beat them to the altar.
17:16Chandler and Monica moved in together in season 6,
17:20which was capped off with a touching proposal.
17:22You make me happier than I ever thought I could be.
17:29And if you let me,
17:32I will spend the rest of my life trying to make you feel the same way.
17:36Their impending nuptials served as the main story arc throughout season 7.
17:40It was a long walk down the aisle for these two,
17:42but it was definitely worth the wait.
17:44Any surprises that come our way,
17:46it's okay because I will always love you.
17:52You are the person I was meant to spend the rest of my life with.
17:56You want to know if I'm sure?
18:02You may now kiss the bride.
18:04Sheldon Cooper and Amy Farrah Fowler immediately click
18:15when they meet at the conclusion of season 3,
18:17but their romance is a slow burn.
18:19Now, before this goes any further,
18:21you should know that all forms of physical contact up to and including coitus
18:24are off the table.
18:28May I buy you a beverage?
18:32Tepid water, please.
18:33Amy doesn't sign the girlfriend agreement until season 5,
18:36and the two don't share their first real kiss until season 7.
18:40By season 9,
18:41Sheldon is finally ready to go all the way with Amy,
18:43who has been eager to have coitus for several years now.
18:47The only downside is that Amy's birthday falls on the same night
18:50The Force Awakens hits theaters.
18:52The new Star Wars or losing one's virginity.
18:54It's honestly not an easy decision.
18:57Sheldon, you can see this movie whenever you want,
19:00but you only have a limited number of days
19:04that you can be with this woman.
19:08Be with her.
19:11You're right.
19:12Regardless, Sheldon finds that Amy is more important to him than a film,
19:16showing how much he's grown since their first encounter.
19:18I don't know what to expect.
19:21Neither do I.
19:24But we can find out together.
19:31Okay.
19:32Number 14.
19:33Oliver Gets Off The Island.
19:35Arrow.
19:36Granted, Oliver Queen technically got off the island of Leon Yu in the first episode.
19:41I am returning.
19:42Not the boy who was shipwrecked,
19:44but the man who will bring justice to those who have poisoned my city.
19:48For five seasons, though,
19:49what happened between Oliver's shipwreck and his rescue
19:52remained one of the show's greatest mysteries.
19:55Oliver's five years in hell are gradually revealed through flashbacks.
19:59These prove to be full of twists and turns,
20:01even taking Oliver off the island for a brief period,
20:04only for him to inevitably return.
20:06The fifth season finale takes us back to the beginning in more ways than one.
20:10You and me, kid.
20:13Like old times.
20:15It turns out that Anatoly Knaesiv sent the ship that found Oliver,
20:19who took out Konstantin Kovar shortly before signaling the boatman.
20:23In the present, however,
20:24Oliver is forced to return to his personal purgatory to settle a few scores.
20:28Even if you had a shot,
20:31you've already told me that you wouldn't kill me.
20:34But if circumstances finally change,
20:37if I die,
20:41everyone you care about dies.
20:42Number 13.
20:44Don tells Betty about his past.
20:46Mad Men.
20:47In season one,
20:48we learn that Don Draper died during the Korean War.
20:51The protagonist we've been following is really Dick Whitman,
20:54who adopted his lieutenant's name and identity.
20:58Did you know him?
21:02A little.
21:03You got your whole life ahead of you.
21:05Forget that boy in the box.
21:08A few characters learn Don's secret,
21:11but we were left wondering if Betty Draper would be one of them.
21:14After Betty finds a box of old photographs and emergency funds,
21:18Don is left with no choice but to tell his wife everything.
21:21I can explain.
21:22I know, I know you can.
21:24You're a very, very gifted storyteller.
21:29That's it.
21:31While the revelation is one thing,
21:33it's Don's vulnerable reaction to the photographs
21:35that makes this scene so memorable.
21:37I didn't even want help.
21:38He just...
21:41He just wanted to be part of my life.
21:49And I couldn't risk all of this.
21:50Don usually keeps his feelings guarded at all costs,
21:54especially around his family.
21:56We waited almost three seasons for him to break down like this,
21:59and it was more gut-wrenching than we could have imagined.
22:02Number 12.
22:03Mac Comes Out
22:04It's Always Sunny in Philadelphia
22:05Mac's sexuality is one of this comedy's funniest running gags for much of its run.
22:10By season 12, it's clear to everyone that Mac is gay,
22:14although he refuses to admit this.
22:18There's a history behind it.
22:20I've been gay forever.
22:22Everybody knows it.
22:23It's a scratch-off lottery ticket of all things
22:25that finally encourages Mac to come out.
22:27Through a complicated argument,
22:29it's decided that Mac can claim sole ownership of the ticket
22:32if he says that he's gay,
22:33which he does.
22:34$10,000.
22:35What?
22:36What's he doing?
22:37Son of a...
22:38Gay Mac rules!
22:40Bullshit!
22:41Gay rich Mac!
22:42Winning $10,000,
22:44Mac decides to be open about his sexuality going forward.
22:47It doesn't matter.
22:48You can just go back in.
22:49You signed the paper.
22:50Yeah, I mean, you got your money.
22:51No, I think I'm out now.
22:54Yeah, I'm...
22:55I'm gay.
22:57Actually, it feels pretty good.
22:59See you, guys.
23:01For a moment that had over a decade of build-up,
23:03Mac's breakthrough feels surprisingly casual.
23:06Of course, if you were hoping for something a bit more emotional,
23:09the season 13 finale delivered on that front.
23:12Number 11.
23:13Dexter's Downfall
23:14Dexter
23:15Despite his best efforts,
23:17Dexter could only balance a normal life
23:19with the life of a serial killer for so long.
23:21I destroy everyone I love.
23:25I can't let that happen to Hannah.
23:28To Harrison.
23:30I have to protect them from me.
23:33Dexter's downfall was inevitable.
23:35Although it didn't exactly play out as we had envisioned.
23:38It would have been fitting if Dexter's journey ended
23:40with his own blood being spilled.
23:42But according to producer John Goldwyn,
23:44Showtime was reportedly against this idea.
23:47Good morning, Miami.
23:48Hurricane Laura has passed and everything is going back to normal.
23:51There is no longer any threat.
23:53Seeing Dexter serve time for his crimes
23:55also would have been a logical way to go out.
23:57But most of the Miami Metro Police Department
23:59never learned a secret.
24:00There doesn't appear to be any survivors.
24:03We're heading back.
24:11Batista.
24:16Dexter?
24:17Instead, Dexter fakes his death
24:19and spends the rest of his days as a lumberjack.
24:22As great as Dexter was at its peak,
24:24after eight seasons,
24:26this ending left many fans disappointed.
24:28Number 10.
24:30Stan confronts Elizabeth and Phillip.
24:32The Americans.
24:33Now, this is how you end a series.
24:36It's over.
24:41It's all over.
24:42When you're a KGB officer posing as an American,
24:45an FBI agent is the last person you'd want as a neighbor.
24:48Yet, Phillip and Elizabeth manage to conceal
24:50their Soviet roots from Stan for years.
24:53When he finally learns the truth,
24:55Stan confronts Phillip, Elizabeth,
24:57and their daughter Paige in a parking garage.
24:59We had a job to do.
25:07You were my best friend.
25:12You were mine too.
25:13Though it was inevitable,
25:15it could have played out in several different ways.
25:17Would the Jennings be forced to take out Stan
25:19or would he arrest the family?
25:21Following a tense standoff,
25:22Stan ultimately lets them go.
25:24Considering the relationship this Stan has developed
25:27with the Jennings over the past six seasons,
25:29it's a resolution that feels well-earned.
25:31You think we can trust him?
25:35Yes.
25:36Number 9.
25:37Mulder and Scully kiss.
25:38The X-Files.
25:40The X-Files frequently asked,
25:42are we alone in the universe?
25:44Viewers, however,
25:44often found themselves asking a different question.
25:47When are Mulder and Scully going to kiss already?
25:49Here we go.

26:22We just wanted to see it with our own eyes.
26:24After so many close encounters, confirmation of their mutual attraction couldn't have been
26:29more rewarding.
26:30Well, it didn't happen.
26:32No, it didn't.

26:40Origins of the Smoke Monster, Lost
26:42This ABC series kept audiences hooked for six seasons with its many ongoing mysteries.
26:47You're not going to start talking about the magic box again, are you?
26:51No, John.
26:55I'm going to show you what came out of it.
26:58Some of these mysteries had satisfying payoffs, like how John Locke ended up in his wheelchair.
27:04Others still have us scratching our heads years later.
27:06You don't have any idea what-
27:08I have no idea because you wouldn't tell me, mother.
27:12In the final season, an entire episode is dedicated to Jacob, the man in black, and their
27:17experiences growing up on the island.
27:19The episode also explores the origins of the Smoke Monster.
27:22It's revealed that Jacob pushed his brother into the tunnel of light, turning the man
27:33in black into a black cloud of smoke.
27:35This explanation, as well as the episode itself, proved polarizing among fans.
27:40After six seasons, though, we guess it was nice to get an answer for better or for worse.
27:45This mysterious blogger gave this show its name, but fans were left waiting for six years and
27:55until the very final episode to learn who they were.
27:58And surprise, they weren't in fact a girl.
28:01But perhaps the bigger shock was that it was Dan all along.
28:04It was particularly unexpected because it doesn't make a lot of sense.
28:19Sure, a main cast member is better than somebody we've never met, but Dan spreading rumors and
28:23revealing secrets about his friends, his family, and himself doesn't paint him in the best light,
28:28and leads to a whole host of plot holes.
28:31Whether it was worth the wait or not, this reveal kept fans waiting until the very last minute.
28:36So I guess that means it's all over now.
28:39That we can all grow up and move on.
28:42Yeah.
28:44Because the girl's dead.
28:46Number 6.
28:47Jon Snow's Real Parents – Game of Thrones
28:50For the first five seasons of the show, those who had read George R.R. Martin's novels mostly
28:55knew what to expect.
28:56A raven came from the Citadel. A white raven.
29:04Winter is here.
29:05By season 6, however, the show had pretty much outpaced the novels, putting experts and newbies
29:11on a more equal footing. Even before the show started, one of the most popular fan theories
29:16revolved around Jon Snow's birth. It was widely believed that Jon wasn't Ned Stark's bastard,
29:22but rather the son of Rhaegar Targaryen and Lyanna Stark, Ned's sister.
29:26In the season 6 finale, Game of Thrones officially made this theory canon.
29:30His name is Aegon Targaryen. You have to protect him.
29:38Promise me Ned.
29:40So, naturally, Jon's lineage means that he'll sit on the Iron Throne, right?
29:44Nope. Bran Stark becomes king. If the intent was to subvert expectations, the writers succeeded,
29:50and kind of failed.
29:51That will improve.
29:54I'm sure it will.
29:54Number 5. Meeting Mr. Snuffleupagus. Sesame Street.
30:00Some of you might be too young to remember, but for much of the 1970s and 80s,
30:04most of the adults on Sesame Street were convinced that Mr. Snuffleupagus was Big Bird's imaginary
30:09friend. Apparently, they could accept a giant talking bird, but a mammoth-like creature was
30:14outside the realm of probability.
30:16Do you think we ought to believe you, huh?
30:18Oh, okay, all right. One more time, Big Bird.
30:20No, don't hurry. He's right behind those doors, but if you don't hurry, I don't know how long
30:25little Elmo can hold it.
30:26To be fair, Snuffy would always disappear whenever Big Bird tried to introduce him to grown-ups.
30:30Go, Big Bird.
30:31Oh, and that means that Bird's friends are coming to meet me now.
30:35Yes, now, now.
30:37Oh, well, I better go home and brush my fur then.
30:40No.
30:40I want to look good for it.
30:42No, no.
30:42In 1985, the producers felt it was time to address the elephant in the room.
30:46The season 17 premiere kicked off with Snuffy meeting Elmo and several shocked adults.
30:52The grown-ups apologized to Big Bird for doubting him in the past,
30:55and from that day forward, he was no longer the bird who cried Snuffleupagus.
30:59From now on, we'll believe you whenever you tell us something.
31:04Yes.
31:05Promise?
31:05Yes.
31:06Promise.
31:06Promise.
31:07Absolutely.
31:08Promise.
31:08Promise.
31:08Promise.
31:09Promise.
31:10Promise.
31:10Promise.
31:10Maybe we should get that in writing.
31:13Number 4.
31:14Richard Kimball clears his name.
31:15The Fugitive
31:17While largely episodic, this classic crime drama series was driven by several overarching questions.
31:23Will Richard Kimball exonerate himself after being falsely convicted of his wife's murder?
31:27Will Kimball catch the mysterious one-armed man he saw fleeing from the crime scene?
31:32Or will the relentless Lieutenant Gerard catch Kimball first?
31:35All of these lingering plot threads are tied up in the thrilling series finale.
31:40Atop a tower, Kimball confronts the one-armed man, also known as Fred Johnson.
31:44All right, we're going back.
31:46You won't shoot me.
31:48You need me a lion.
31:50Although Johnson confesses to Kimball, he's shot and falls to his doom before he can have his day in
31:55court. Gerard, of all people, vouches for Kimball, which convinces Lloyd Chandler to testify
32:00on the wrongfully accused man's behalf.
32:02Lieutenant. Lieutenant, I saw that man, Johnson, murder Helen Kimball.
32:13After 120 episodes, The Fugitive is a free man.
32:17Tuesday, September 5th, the day the running stopped.
32:23Number 3.
32:24Hank realizes Walt is Heisenberg.
32:26Breaking Bad.
32:28Halfway through Breaking Bad's fifth season, Walt seems ready to retire from the meth business.
32:33He's beyond rich, his family's back together, and the authorities have no clue that he's Heisenberg.
32:39I want my kids back.
32:43I want my life back.
32:48Please tell me, how much is enough?
32:54How big does this pile have to be?
32:57Walt just might have gotten away with it if Hank didn't like to read on the toilet.
33:01A DEA agent, Hank stumbles upon a book from GB to WW in Walt's bathroom.
33:07Thinking back, Hank recalls that Gail Bedecker's notebook mentioned a WW.
33:12I mean, what do you figure that is, you know?
33:14Woodrow Wilson?
33:17Willy Wonka?
33:21Walter White?
33:27You got me.
33:28Although he was joking before, Hank pieces together that WW really is Walter White.
33:33The meth kingpin he's been hunting this whole time was his sickly brother-in-law.
33:38Thankfully, we only had to wait one more episode to see Hank confront Walt with this revelation.
33:43Oh!
33:51I got you.
33:53All along it was you!
33:55Number 2. Going Home.
33:57MASH.
33:58Although the Korean War persisted for just over three years, it lasted 11 seasons for Hawkeye and Company.
34:04Tomorrow, the tents of the 4077 will be coming down. For good.
34:13For an awful long time, we've been living together, eating together.
34:19Eating together?
34:20The long-awaited farewell accumulated so much buzz back in 1983 that the initial broadcast brought in a
34:26record-breaking 105.97 million viewers. To this date, it remains the most-watched series finale in
34:33television history, which goes to show just how many people wanted to see these characters receive
34:38a proper send-off. Goodbye, Farewell, and Amen delivered with a final scene that's forever embedded
34:44in pop culture. Following a bittersweet hug, Hawkeye lifts off in a helicopter to find that
34:49Hunnicutt has left him one last message.
34:52I'll see you back in the States! I promise!
34:56Since this be case, I left you a note!
34:59What?
35:00After 256 episodes, it was the perfect way to say goodbye.

35:291. Who's the mother? How I met your mother
35:32You wouldn't expect the story about how a father met the mother of his children to take
35:36nine seasons to tell.
35:38I can't believe this. I kept this story short and to the point and you guys still missed it.
35:44Ted Mosby insists on telling his kids everything, however. This includes his relationships with
35:50various other women and the wacky shenanigans that he got into with his friends. Every now and then,
35:55we're given another clue pertaining to the mother's identity. It's not until the season 8 finale,
36:00though, that we finally get to see the woman behind the yellow umbrella. Then we had to wait
36:05another season for Ted to meet the future Mrs. Mosby.
36:08Those are my initials. TM, Tracy McConnell.
36:11Um, no, Tracy McConnell. It's TM, totally my umbrella.
36:16Uh, you're TM. Terribly mistaken. Because this umbrella has always belonged, TM, to me.
36:23The fate of the mother proved divisive to say the least,
36:26but her actual introduction to Ted was every bit as heartfelt as we'd hoped.
36:30Is there an anticipated TV moment you hoped to see on our list? We're looking forward to
36:49you celebrating your picks in the comments.
36:52I questioned whether this day would ever come, but today, our journey is at an end.
