00:30Você hear os revs, rise, drop the gate, let's do it.
00:35Heap 2 in the 250s, good start, Nate Thrasher.
00:38Boy, he bolted out of the gates.
00:43Going to be tight on the whole shot there.
00:45But he's got the inside line for the switchback here, and Nate Thrasher.
00:50He's already won this year in Birmingham, Alabama,
00:54and the Monster Energy Star Yamaha racer is flying ahead of Hamaker.
00:58This is like a sight lap for some of these guys,
01:01and think about how fast that they have to go.
01:03They haven't been on this racetrack for several hours.
01:07The sun has poked out.
01:09The track is a lot drier, a lot harder than it was
01:12when they were previously on the track earlier today,
01:15while maintaining an incredible pace.
01:19Nate has been riding injured for the majority of the season.
01:22He severely injured his finger.
01:25There's metal work in there, had to go on to go surgery.
01:28He had very little grip strength.
01:29He told me yesterday, RC, he is feeling fat and feeling strong.
01:34Yeah, and Nate is just one of those guys.
01:36I mean, he's won a showdown race, a triple crown race, a regular race,
01:41and he has a speed that's never been the problem.
01:45It's just small little injuries that has slowed him down,
01:49and some not to his doing, Will.
01:52And he's had teammates with injuries, too.
01:55So right now, Nate Thrasher is the sole 250 East rider
01:59under that Yamaha Star Racing tent.
02:03And I asked today, the team, I said, how's that on the pressure?
02:06They said, we are piling it on.
02:07We're piling that pressure on.
02:09Some riders do well with that.
02:10Some do not.
02:11They said, Nate loves it.
02:13When we tell him it's go time, it's go time.
02:15And so all that is on him right now.
02:17Maybe that has something to do with that great start.
02:19It's clearly working.
02:20The team's planning it.
02:21Well, we enjoy this action, Will, in the 250 East Division Heat 2.
02:25Let's check in with Weege.
02:27Jason Weigamp, where do we find you, mate?
02:30Yeah, I'm here under the triumph rig.
02:31You saw that crash from Austin Fort during the heat race,
02:34and JT mentioned how his airbag system went off.
02:37This is new to the sport of motocross,
02:39the tech air system from Alpine Stars.
02:41He's got to swap that one for this one.
02:44When you crash, it inflates before you hit the ground
02:47to cushion the impact,
02:48and then it stays inflated for 25 seconds,
02:51and then goes back to a normal size
02:52so the rider is not affected by the inflated airbag system.
02:56It has one charge per race,
02:57so he's going to swap into a new system.
02:59And the good thing for Fortner after that crash,
03:01he's A-OK.
03:03That technology that we've seen in MotoGP road racing
03:06has come to the world of super motocross.
03:09Nate Thrasher with a 1.7-second lead over Hamaker.
03:16Tom Bial a little further back aboard his Red Bull KTM.
03:19Then Max Volan and Jack Chambers.
03:23And in that final transfer position in ninth,
03:26Trevor Collum at the moment.
03:27There's Tom Bial earlier today
03:31when the track was a bit ruddier.
03:33I felt like it was playing right into Tom Bial's hands
03:36at the championship contenders.
03:38He is the only guy that hasn't won yet this year,
03:42lacking a little bit of speed.
03:44However, he's only two points back.
03:46Whoa!
03:46Whoa!
03:46Some wild stuff going on further back.
03:49That was Carroll, I believe.
03:54Yeah.
03:56Brighton Carroll went down.
03:58And then...
04:00No.
04:02Local rider here from New Jersey.
04:06Oh.
04:07That was rough to watch.
04:09It's so hard to get it gathered back up
04:12when you make a mistake through the whoops
04:14because you're so committed.
04:17Watch what happens.
04:18Top of your screen.
04:20Oh, that wasn't the whoops.
04:21That's the rhythm lane.
04:22Next up.
04:23Oh!
04:24Oh!
04:25Yeah, I mean, just a racing incident.
04:27If one guy makes a mistake
04:29and isn't able to, say, triple into the corner
04:32and the other guy behind him is committed,
04:35there's really nothing for you to do at that stage.
04:37Henry Miller.
04:40Let's hope that he is okay
04:42after that heavy crash.
04:44Meanwhile, it's a little more stable up front
04:46for Nate Thrasher.
04:51Let's hear some thoughts
04:52of the star Yamaha racer
04:54on what he needs to do to build a little bit more.
04:57Here's Nate Thrasher in his own words.
05:00Yeah, I think last weekend I felt good on the bike.
05:03Just the starts weren't there
05:04on the restart of the main event.
05:06So, yeah, we just worked on starts this week
05:08and I think it's going to take a good start here.
05:11There's a lot of good guys.
05:12So, yeah, just get off the gate
05:13and I think we'll be in a good spot.
05:15And even though, Ricky,
05:16that his hand is pretty much 100% healed,
05:20I asked him yesterday,
05:21why do you still have the handguards on?
05:22And he said, believe it or not,
05:23where I've got my scar
05:24and where I had the sore finger,
05:26the roost still really hurts my hand.
05:28Yeah, I mean,
05:29these tires put off a massive bruise.
05:33It's like sitting in front of a paintball gun
05:35and it's hurt.
05:37So, any little protection helps.
05:40So, that's why he has those black handguards
05:42covering up his hands.
05:44And there are little rocks
05:46out on this racetrack.
05:47He's down there walking the track earlier today
05:50during qualifying practice
05:52watching these guys
05:53as they were taking laps
05:55and trying to get their best time.
05:56And there's small little petals out there.
05:59Nice to see a dry track for once
06:01in a few weeks.
06:02Right.
06:02And the weather,
06:04Mother Nature has been keeping us on our toes.
06:10Nice to have the sunshine.
06:1225 seconds left, plus a lap.
06:13Nate Thrash has been in control
06:15since the start
06:16over co-championship leader
06:18Seth Hamaker,
06:19then Tom Vial.
06:20Max Voland
06:21started the day
06:22pretty speedily.
06:24And then Jack Chambers
06:25headed for a
06:28career-best heat result.
06:30If he can stay there in the top five,
06:33Chan Baker
06:34holds on to that
06:35ninth and final transfer position.
06:37Sometimes it's difficult
06:38when the track changes
06:40from
06:41qualifying practice
06:43to the heat races
06:45right now
06:46and then later on
06:47to the main event,
06:49you have to really
06:50be on top of it
06:51and be trying to,
06:52you have to forecast
06:53what that track condition
06:54is going to be like
06:55so you can make the appropriate changes
06:57to your motorcycle
06:58and the setup,
07:00whether it be suspension,
07:01engine, tires.
07:02So the rider that is
07:03most in tune
07:04with how their bike works
07:06and the necessary changes
07:09they may need
07:10to help them
07:11to help them
07:11the best lap times
07:12have the most comfort
07:14to race with as much speed
07:16as possible.
07:19Here's the second place
07:21Seth Hamaker.
07:23That big win
07:24that Will alluded to
07:25earlier this season
07:27in Indianapolis
07:27broke a four-year drought
07:30and behind him
07:32coming to the white flag
07:33who is a long way back.
07:36Tom Villar
07:36more than 10 seconds
07:38Jason Thomas
07:39behind Seth Hamaker
07:40runs third.
07:42And this is a little worrisome
07:43for Tom Villar
07:43because the way he had been
07:44in this championship lead
07:46was through consistency.
07:47It hadn't been through raw speed
07:49as Ricky mentioned.
07:50Now with that Foxborough debacle
07:52he has lost the lead
07:53and it's going to be up to him
07:54to find the speed
07:55that it takes to win
07:57and in this heat race
07:58so far
07:58he has not been able
07:59to do that.
07:59So somewhere between now
08:01and the bain of it
08:01he's going to have
08:02to figure this out
08:02but the points
08:03are only going to get
08:04worse from here.
08:05He's getting some serious heat
08:06from the 92
08:07of Max Boland
08:08on that blue and white Yamaha.
08:12I was watching
08:12Max Boland
08:15earlier today
08:16and he looked really comfortable
08:17had incredible whoop speed.
08:19There we go.
08:21Checkered flag
08:21for Nate Thrasher.
08:22Well done.
08:23Right from the drop
08:24of the gate
08:25Nate Thrasher
08:26was out in front
08:27and put together
08:28a really comprehensive
08:29heat victory
08:30over Seth Hamaker
08:31and then Tom Villar
08:35will cross the line
08:36third
08:36with a little bit
08:37of head scratching
08:38to do maybe
08:39leading
08:40to the main
08:41event.
