00:00...championship hopes.
00:04Alright, you don't want to go to the last chance qualifier.
00:06You want to be in the top nine.
00:08And if you are, you'll go straight through to the East-West Showdown final.
00:11This is the East Division race.
00:15Let's go, here in Philly.
00:17Watch for who gets a really good jump.
00:20It's Villal, the co-points leader, but sneaking through on the inside
00:23is the man who he's tied with in the points, Seth Hamaker.
00:27Seth Hamaker got an awesome first corner.
00:31He's able to hug those inside tough blocks.
00:33He's able to get by Tom Villal, squeeze him out, use up the track to his advantage.
00:38That was a fantastic start by the number 56 of Seth Hamaker.
00:43And, R.C., when you look at the top four, those are your one through four through our points.
00:47So, in the correct order.
00:49So, we wanted to see what's going to happen.
00:51I know it's the heat race, but this is what we wanted to see.
00:53Well, that's right.
00:54And remember, this is like a main event.
00:56It's all the top guys from the 250 East Division going for this championship a lot on the line,
01:02even in this heat race.
01:05Seth Hamaker is so proud to be displaying that red plate,
01:11which designates championship leader, in this case, co-championship leader,
01:16because this is home, family, friends, people who have known him since he grew up here.
01:21They are here cheering him on.
01:23This is a massive afternoon.
01:24Well, and he had a great light.
01:26Oh!
01:27Down goes Villal!
01:28I think he got cross-rutted up, maybe, jumping that triple in.
01:33Yeah, he better pick it up, because I think this is where you forget as a rider that this is an East-West shootout.
01:39So, not only is it that LCQ, you're going to have guys that you haven't raced all year long,
01:44or at least only once all year.
01:46And, yeah, he doesn't look like he's in a rush, and he's on that plywood.
01:49That plywood is very slippery.
01:52Let's take a look at the Insta360 replay to see what happened to the champion.
01:58Yeah, you can see him here, and he starts to fade back over to the left a little bit,
02:01and you can see that wiggle, and he got in there, and he just jumped on that tough block.
02:05Actually, he got off pretty lucky, but right here, you can see that bike shoot over to the left,
02:09and he's on for the ride at this point.
02:11You can see him.
02:12He's frozen.
02:12He's just waiting for whatever happens.
02:14Oh, he did.
02:15He hit that right side, that right shoulder pretty hard.
02:18He ain't hustling.
02:19And like you said, James, probably not anticipating how hard that last chance is going to be.
02:26Man, that was a tough blow to the title contender, Tom Vial, tied at points with this guy right here.
02:31He rode straight off the track and straight up the tunnel.
02:34We'll see him in the LCQ.
02:35That's very clear.
02:37Last week, he finished last in the mud in Massachusetts, and this week here in Philly, he's headed to the LCQ.
02:44Yeah, the LCQ, and this is a trickle effect,
02:47because even if he comes out and wins that LCQ, what is that going to do for the starting position?
02:50But back on the track, as you can see, R.J. Hamshad at number 24 on the Husqvarna,
02:55and last week's winner, Chance Hymas, they're going at it,
02:59but they're about three seconds behind the leader, Will.
03:03That's right.
03:04Chance Hymas putting himself in another good position this weekend, James.
03:07And, Ricky, you talked about it at the top there before the gate drop happened,
03:12and the fact that Chance Hymas is now back in the hunt for this championship.
03:16Now, he had to kind of refocus a little bit, or that was his thoughts, at least.
03:20He spoke to you on Title 24 and your podcast there about that.
03:23But when I checked in with him today, he said that was short-lived.
03:26He said he realized that he had to get back to what actually got him there for that win,
03:30and that was making sure he didn't look too big picture, wasn't focused on the championship.
03:35He just was focused on the small gains and just making improvements and getting those results.
03:40It ended up in the wins.
03:41He's like, well, why am I going to change that when that has clearly worked?
03:45So we kind of have a bit of a mental reset for him,
03:47and here he is with another strong performance so far.
03:50Yeah, that's right.
03:51And, James, I think sometimes for some riders, thinking less and just going out
03:55and not worrying about the championship, you're able to put in better rides,
04:00maybe takes the pressure off a bit.
04:02Some people like that pressure to each his own in that regard.
04:08But this guy is riding really well here tonight.
04:12Let's have a look at the bright yellow outfit of Austin Faulkner, the Factory Triumph rider.
04:17That was a massive save.
04:20That could have been very ugly.
04:22James, I don't know if you're seeing what I'm seeing, but the whoops,
04:25they look very, very slick at the beginning.
04:28Saw Milseman do the same thing.
04:30That's how he went down in the first heat race.
04:33Yeah, and those guys, what's happening is they're coming out of that corner
04:36and they're trying to build as much speed as they can get going into those whoops
04:38while also shifting.
04:40And if they don't get that shift right, then the RPMs rev up on the motorcycle,
04:44and it's like driving your car in second gear.
04:46The thing starts spinning.
04:48The rear end goes side to side, and then you're on for the ride.
04:50That's what we saw happen with Austin.
04:51Back in fourth is Nate Thrasher, the Birmingham winner,
04:57and then his teammate from Monster Energy star Yamaha, Daxton Benick,
05:02then Max Voland, and then Cullen Park, fresh from his podium in Foxborough a week ago.
05:07Just over a minute plus a lap left, and Seth Hamaker boasts a four-and-a-half-second lead.
05:12Seth Hamaker's story is just absolutely incredible when you think about where he was
05:18and where he is now, basically restarting his career over, doubling down,
05:24going to the dog pound, which is where the Lawrence brothers ride,
05:28and working with Michael Byrne off and on the track as a riding coach
05:33and just being around those vibes of the Lawrence brothers, learning from them.
05:38He has made huge improvements all season long.
05:41He's a completely different guy, and it's so comforting to see
05:45what that journey has been like.
05:46Very tough to do.
05:48Well, he's been looking forward to this afternoon
05:51and this whole weekend for quite some time.
05:54Here he is in his own words.
05:59One for sure.
06:00That's the one on the schedule that I can't wait to get to
06:02and for it to be East-West Showdown again
06:03and after coming off the win in India at East-West.
06:06So a lot of family and friends will be supporting me there
06:08and looking forward to trying to get another one.
06:13Well, starting in this way, he's well on track to getting another one, that's for sure.
06:18And with his title rival and co-points leader on the ground and out the back,
06:23Tom Vial, the day could not have started better for Seth Hamaker.
06:27Chance Hymas, who has spent the week, Ricky, you spoke about practicing
06:31and honing his skills at the Dog Pound with the Lawrence Brothers in Florida.
06:35He spent the weekend practicing and training for motocross
06:38for the upcoming pro motocross season.
06:40Chance Hymas, so no resting after his first career main event victory.
06:44He's had a good week.
06:46These guys rarely have opportunities to rest,
06:49especially during the season or if you have an injury, right, James?
06:52They're like, rest?
06:53Rest?
06:53What are you talking about?
06:54Reston is on the plane flight home.
07:00Got a shot here at RJ Hampshire.
07:04Yeah, it almost seems like you've got to be really aggressive.
07:06Once you get close-ass chances, you've got to just make that pass
07:10because if you just funnel back in the track, these guys are doing the same thing.
07:13Unless you've got to make a mistake, they got in front of you.
07:15It's going to be hard to pass.
07:16It's like driving down the freeway, and you're waiting to get into the fast lane.
07:20If you wait, it's over.
07:22So there's Seth Hamaker crossing the line well out in front,
07:27more than six seconds.
07:29That's his first heat win of the year over Hampshire,
07:32and Hymas continuing his momentum.
07:35Meanwhile, a little further back, Henry Miller.
07:39He knows his number 87 on that blue Yamaha.
07:44Excuse me.
07:44He's trying to get it.
07:45He's lost too much ground now.
07:49And Miller is in that all-important ninth and final transfer position
07:54to go straight to the East-West Showdown faint event,
07:58and he does it.
07:59Well done.
08:00There's going to be some good guys in that LCQ.
08:02Yes.
08:04Momentum and confidence is so important,
08:06and this guy here, Seth Hamaker, has it in abundance at the moment.
08:10It's winning at home in Pennsylvania.
08:13We'll see him in the main event.
08:14Look at that fist pump.
08:17It's all headed the right direction.
