00:00I got to put an album out during this fantastic year, but it felt really rewarding to put out music in a time that I felt like we were all digging deep and going through things and investigating ourselves and, you know, what really mattered in our lives.
00:25And it was nice to put something out that I thought emotionally tapped into that as well.
00:31So it's really nice to have new music out, too.
00:36And this song, I'll tell you the story behind this song.
00:41I was writing this song with Hilary Lindsay, who's incredible, like, star is born, like, writer of all amazing things,
00:50and Tyler Johnson and Jeff Basker, who do all my stuff with me, and, you know, Uptown Funk and Harry Styles and all that kind of stuff.
00:58So we all get in the room, and there's this vibe going for this song.
01:02And if you hear the recording, there's, like, a, like, laid-back beat, and it's, like, kind of sexy and steamy.
01:09And we're writing these words, and it all kind of fits this vibe of, like, loving someone until there's nothing left.
01:15You know, like, you give all your heart and your soul, and you want to disappear into them, physically giving everything.
01:21And then as we go to, like, sing the final vocals, I started to realize, like, oh, I'm really singing about getting it on in the backseat of a car.
01:29And I kind of, like, blushed a little, and I had to have this moment with myself, because, you know, I think there's all these things about what you say publicly, and as a woman, and I was like, okay, let me check in with myself.
01:43How does this feel, like, for me? Like, do I really want to do this?
01:47And my grandmother, my middle name is Marvel. Her name was Marvel. I was named after her.
01:53She grew up in Saskatchewan, Canada, like, farm, prairie land, nothing.
01:56And if you're nodding, you definitely know. Yeah.
01:59And Baptist, salt of the earth.
02:01She's the one who gave me the birds and the bees talk when I was, like, 12, unbeknownst to my parents.
02:07And she goes, Cameron Marvel, sex is like a milkshake, and once you have it, you're always going to want it.
02:18And she was just so matter-of-fact about it.
02:21Like, this is this part of life that can be really great.
02:24And it kind of just was, like, a helpful, oh, yeah, if she can own this, I can own this.
