00:49song and i just meditated over the lyrics and i went back downstairs and i said i'm ready to record
00:58and i recorded it i mean now let's let's talk because see this puts it in a space where people
01:05got to understand like meditation like worship like this is a god-fearing house right here this
01:12this is just some praying going on in this house and and when you have the pain of what's going on
01:19in the street like the here's here's something my daughters are 12 and 10 and the big argument is do
01:27you let kids in on this kind of pain do you let kids know what's going on so in a household like that
01:34where you have everybody who is really looking to god for for guidance you know was that was this
01:40something that was new for you were you aware of what was going on with george floyd and everything
01:45or or was this something where she just gave it to you like hey i want you to do this because i know
01:51your beautiful voice can bring it bring it home i think that like this is what i was called to do so um
02:01i always just want to sing for god's glory and just keep on like pushing people and always um
02:10just impacting lives with my gift so that it was um that song was i watched the george floyd video
02:19um before i um recorded the song so that came about like that i know you're 12 so you might not have
02:27spent too much time with marvin gay or with sam cook you know i mean every vocalist out there knows
02:33those things that you probably heard your parents play it and stuff but these these singers took a moment
02:39in time and and saying you know a change gonna come or what's going on about you know what was
02:46going on in the world and you're in that conversation now you're you're one of those people who took and
02:53capsulized what everybody was going through with that pain and even a president obama was like oh my god
03:00this boy just just took our feelings how did that make you feel when the president knows your name
03:06it made me feel just really happy and excited that i got the opportunity to actually get shared on his
03:17on page so that was just really exciting experience and i was just amazed well now tell me uh you know
03:25because i saw i saw two moments on your instagram that i wanted to ask you about it was one where you got a
03:32gift you got a gift in a box and you were so happy tell me about that microphone that you got
03:41my dad bought it for me because i've always wanted a actual microphone like a real um recording microphone
03:52and that's when he got me before because um before i went out here and that was just like wow because
04:01before he said that it was legos in there so he tricked me and then i opened it and it was a mic
04:09so that was kind of like i was like that was cool that was cool because i mean they had the shock
04:16mount and everything and that's a professional mic we talk about hit factory we're talking about capital
04:21records we're talking about warner brothers records like that's where the real singer is like you look
04:27at we are the world and everything else they're in there with that kind of mic so you know you can
04:31do damage with that one yes sir it was funny because when you started to cry i i it was it was totally i
04:38was taking me back to my mommy moments because your mama was around that with the camera she's like
04:42uh-uh no i gotta see this face so that that's a total mama moment where they always catch it on camera
04:47right yes sir now uh the other moment was this weekend i saw you singing i think them joints was
04:56on the piano and uh somebody was playing the accompaniment for you well um for the fourth of
05:05july we went to dr dre's house and just to like yeah i guess like celebrate or something or not like
05:15celebrate the fourth july but just like going there just to hang out or something yeah yeah so um
05:20through like we i'm already eating stuff and then like the i guess i guess his engineer that works
05:29with him um wanted me to sing um i should live and he played the piano and he and i was like all right
05:38i guess i'll go and sing and then we got on the piano and i sung it and dr dre came in well he because
05:46he wanted to be there when i was starting i started singing so yeah and i started singing eyes from the
05:51live and that was dr dre dr dre like i mean i'm looking at it i'm seeing dre on the table and i'm like
06:03he is singing in front of one of the biggest producers in the world like i know you are 12
06:11you ain't live like but your parents know dr dre like like they they can be saved and sanctified all
06:20they want to they know that was dr dre like that that gives you an immense amount of credibility but
06:28it's not going to define you but man when i saw that i was like this boy is out the gate right now
06:34like it just i saw you uh on on the speaker when you said uh alexa play keedron bryant i just want
06:42to live and when it started playing you had this the same smile that you're showing now that's that
06:47pride and that tell me about that feeling how that happened and what you what you felt when you heard
06:53it say keedron bryant i just want to live and started playing your voice it felt really exciting
07:01because i would never think that i would my my song would be on the alexa app so it's just like
07:09it's it's all all of it um it's been an exciting journey and i'm just so happy for what god is doing
07:17in my life right now i i love the fact that you keep god first and uh i know when i talk to the
07:23people at at warner and they were saying that the proceeds were going to the naacp they were saying
07:28that your family was pensive about like you know hesitant about doing it because you didn't feel
07:32like you should profit off of this this felt like you were doing god's work and and kind of you know
07:37standing in in in the midst of people who needed to hear it and uh i think that that's so special so
07:43tell me the people i know who have dreamed about being musicians and dreamed about having a music
07:49ministry and stuff they always play in their room like they sing it along with songs and pretending
07:55you know with me it was the whinings and commission back in the day where i thought i was just a little
08:00fat fred hammond you know so who who do you look to when you sing and you like man if i can just have
08:07that kind of career where i can do something like that what would it be who would they be
08:13i think um i don't really know because i mean like not like based on like a career i mean i i
08:31i wouldn't like try to like say that i want to be like them like a career but but i don't know like
08:41that's it's a hard question um yeah but like if i were to like just pick i pick one then i would
08:49say um kalante gavin um okay yeah see i mean i i listen to gospel a lot i work at a hip-hop station
08:59uh i always tell people when i talk in schools i'm like you you can't love music if you only know
09:05one type of music and so i listen i study you know and everything else but gospel we're talking you
09:11know isaac karee we're talking the walls group jay moss you know like those people when i listen to
09:17them i'm just like oh if i could just if i could just i mean you did a run your song got so many
09:24notes in the run that it's like i counted it was like nine on the back end it was like up and down
09:31and i'm like this is what people can't do like it just effortlessly came out of you like
09:38did you feel like you was doing the most like were you doing too much
09:42no sir because i like runs is just i like runs is just so fun to me like i just like
09:51playing around with runs and runs is just like you in in a song you just can't sing it straight
09:59like in one right like oh like you have to do something just to bring it like if you want to
10:06do a soulful sound then like that's kind of my like that's my sound like a soulful type and i love
10:12doing runs in my songs i you know i heard it in your voice because when you were like god and i can't do
10:20what you did but they were like i'm like wait a minute and then you're like i'm like he went off
10:27there now don't like like this is insane like your vocals got yeezys on like they running i just i just
10:36really i'm really proud of the fact that that that what you did selflessly what your mom wrote
10:44you know selflessly what what them joints put together to to accentuate what you did all came
10:52together so it can help people through this pain and uh for the people who are watching who are
10:59following your journey and everything else and i know you're 12 i don't want to put anything on you
11:05but what would you want to say to the people out there who are who are going through this and who are
11:12feeling you know like they aren't represented what would you what would you want to say to those
11:17people watching i would say that just um just to keep on chasing after your dreams because your
11:26dreams are important and always just never doubt yourself because you could accomplish a lot of
11:32things if you just put your mind to and always trusting god that he will um be with you through
11:38the path and everywhere and everywhere that you want to go that god is always with you
11:42so just keep on um striving to be the best and um keep growing in what you want to do and never stop
11:50so yeah just keep on going that's incredible when i when i saw the notice of you being signed by
11:57warner i was uh i was on quarantine because i've been uh i had covid and you talk about prayers
12:06you talking about praying folk like people were praying for me that i didn't even know knew god
12:11like that and they were hitting me up like you and my prayers and i told my mama to pray and we sent
12:17it up timber for you and i'm like these people ain't never mentioned timber to me and and and when i saw
12:23it i guess it got me caught up in my feels because i was like i couldn't see my family i couldn't see
12:27my friends and it's three weeks in this room and i'm just sitting there looking at this the creative
12:33that they did where you had all of the the your your body and everything else was like encompassed
12:38with the scenery of of the protest and stuff and i'm looking at it and i'm like these people
12:45did this for us and now to see this come to a light for you is just such an impressive thing and it
12:53and all i said was look at god like because because god finds people to move people and he finds people
13:00to use and i think he's using you for for for great things to come whether it's being the next
13:06or being the first wherever it is you're gonna take take this thing and run with it with that new
13:13microphone by the way so you're gonna put that thing to work and uh i just want to salute you and
13:18i say i'm i'm proud to to be playing your record and i'm i'm proud to see it happen thank you thank
13:25you and and make sure you tell your mama i said that was a slapping record she killed it
