00:54engine failure need to turn immediately witnesses reported hearing a loud boom and seeing smoke

02:55yeah so they call mayday for a ton of different reasons
02:59one of them being obviously mechanical failure which this one obviously was
03:03but um most of the time at least in most of the time in my field if i have ever called it
03:08it was for passenger health
03:10we assume when they said heavy mayday means it was like it was a catastrophic failure
03:14but heavy mayday refers to the weight of the plane right
03:17yes yeah yeah it's anything over like a it's a gross weight that they consider it to be a heavy aircraft
03:24right so that's what the heavy mayday is all about
