00:00They turn their back on their coach. I saw this in 2012, and I know everybody's going, here he goes.
00:07In 2012, a certain baseball team stopped playing for their manager in the American League Central.
00:13It starts with a CL and ends with an Evelyn. You know why? Because Manny Acton never, ever, ever
00:19would go out and argue a call with umpires, and the players said to hell with him.
00:23He didn't have our backs, we're not playing for him, and they quit on it.
00:25So to the point where there was like seven games left in the year, I think it was seven or six,
00:29the Indians fired Acton because the players stopped playing.
00:34I'm just telling you what I've seen before. If guys don't think the coach has their back,
00:39they look at each other and go, hell, we ain't playing for him if he ain't playing for us.
00:43You believe what, you believe Jason Cole, what he said? Where's he getting his info?
00:48First of all, Jason is a national guy that has connections. I don't know how many players he's
00:54talked to, but if the players are now starting to whisper to people like him and other sources
01:00around the league, they're, man, we really thought the coach was going to grab our backs
01:04this week, fight, scratch, claw, say something in the press conference, you know, God bless
01:09it, I called the league, this can't happen to us, I'm going to make sure this doesn't happen
01:13again. Maybe the players rally around him. And Cole is saying the opposite. Now, I'm with
01:18UMass. If you're on the football field, go out and win for yourself, win for your team,
01:24win for the fans that showed up to pay your paycheck. You know, it's always blame the
01:29coach. This was Pistons-esque. This is very Pistons-esque. I remember when John Huster,
01:39he lost the locker room because they didn't think that, they knew they could toy with him.
01:43They knew they could mess with him. And he disrespected Rip, and that was it. The rest of
01:47the players followed. So now, you're right, you don't want the inmates running the entire
01:50one. Oh, the Tigers do. Oh, there's an old bit. Yeah. Right down the street. Right. What's
01:57wrong on that block? It's the Brust Street curse. Gosh. Unbelievable. I just. I don't get
02:07it. They loved Caldwell last year. Every player I talked to, off the record, on the record,
02:11all said. He took us to dinner. He knows our families. He treats us like men. He doesn't
02:18yell and scream at us. He's so even-keeled. We're behind him. I, I, I, I. Numerous guys.
02:26Heck, Ryan Broyles, even as upset as he was last year for getting benched and deactivated and
02:31everything else, said, I have a lot of respect for that man. They want to play for a guy that
02:36they respect. And now all of a sudden, this is where we're at? So they get hosed on a
02:42bad call, which it was, and everything else. Caldwell, this must have been, you know what,
02:48Mass, he might, he didn't get mad enough after the Dallas game last year, and I guess this
02:52was the straw that broke his back for the players. But again, if the players aren't playing
02:58hard, then that's on Martin Mayhew who put this team together. There's not enough good players
03:03to make up for that. Talent masks everything. Winning masks everything. You win, nobody's
03:09talking about who the backup quarterback should be, and should they this, and should they that,
03:13and should they fire this coordinator. They don't talk about that in Green Bay. They don't
03:16talk about that in Cincinnati at the moment. They're not talking about that in Ann Arbor
03:21right now, are they? Of course not. Because what are they talking about? All good things
03:27because they won. Because they're winning. Win, and it masks all this. You're listening to
03:35WMGCFM HD1 Detroit. Drew and Mark are here. What's up, fellas? Nothing. Everything good?
03:43Another exciting Lions game. Oh. Woo! They're not entertaining. They're not even interesting
03:48anymore. They're not even interesting anymore. What do you find interesting about them? How
03:53much they suck? I'm fascinated by this whole thing of going from 11-5 and having all this
03:58momentum. We just saw this three years ago. They went from a playoff team to what, 2-14?
04:04I guess, but I just, I don't know. Seriously, what do you find interesting about this team right
04:10now? I think the dynamic is fascinating. I think the, uh, garbage. They are. They're
04:17not garbage. They're not good. They didn't beat many good teams last year, did they really?
04:21No, and they had those amazing comebacks by the Hubs. Still got to play. Look, are they
04:27a world beater? Did I think they were going to go 11-5 again this year? No. But, my gosh,
04:33I mean, yesterday, they were, and it's a funny thing. Everyone said, well, they quit on call.
04:37Well, they quit. They quit. They quit. They came out. They were up 7-0 and had some momentum
04:41in that game. They did. And then the minute the turnovers hit, then they laid down. I'll
04:45tell you, you know what I think was a huge play in that game? The Reading interception?
04:49Golden takes stupid penalty when they're down 7 and they're driving. It's 3rd and 1 and
04:54Zach Zander picks up 9 after a Lake and Tomlinson good block and Reef pushes out and Pettigrews
04:59ahead. Why is he making that penalty? That took him out of a field goal. There was no need
05:04for it. It was a way from the play. So he can shut up. I'm sick of hearing from you.
05:07His head doesn't seem to be in the game. About the fans. Exactly. He's worried on other
05:11stuff, Tom. I don't know if his head's not in the game, but you can tell. He doesn't
05:16look sharp to me. His emotion, the emotion's not there. He's a guy that makes a catch, does
05:22the first down signal. You can tell he's mopey. He just looks like him. Now, did he have
05:27a horrible game other than that? He had the fumble, too. They threw him the ball. He was
05:31catching the ball. He was trying to make some plays. The guy on the other side, again,
05:34was disappearing in the second half. You never heard a word from Calvin. What was this
05:38deal about all the empty seats at the beginning of the game? People, it's a hard time getting
05:43in the game. They keep you outside. They frisk you. The lines are blocks long. I heard
05:48that guy on your show, Matt, say he was on 94 for 45 minutes. Correct. Got to the game
05:53late. Have you seen the traffic to get off of Madison on 375? It's a disaster. It's ridiculous.
05:58People are lined up for like six miles back there, and they go to that light, and they
06:03hold them up while people cross the street. Do they know there's a backup of five miles
06:08on 375? Of course they do. That's been going on for years. Fix it. My God. I can't believe
06:15you treat your customers like that. And then tear Woodward up on top of it. And block streets.
06:20Is that the lion's fault? Yeah, I don't think that's the lion's fault. Is the traffic on
06:24the lion's fault? Yeah, you're right though, Tom. Help us out. What's the deal with 375?
06:29I just can't believe that. I don't know. If you're parking in there a lot, you have to,
06:33well, you don't have to get off there, but it certainly makes sense. You can take Lafayette,
06:36you can stay on 375 until it turns into Woodward. There's lines everywhere. There's no signage
06:40to tell you that. There's lines everywhere. If you don't get off at Madison, it's hard to
06:44get, work your way back around. That's true. Pain in the end. That's true. But still, when you go up to the palace, and that exit 81 or whatever it is, it's packed, they tell you, go up to 83 and go, and come back. Right. Come back. And they're going to the
06:52There are signs to lead you there if you're a newbie. There's nothing down there. There's nothing. Do the cops at that intersection know how far people are waiting back? Because they always seem worried about having people cross the street. If there's 10 people, they want people to cross the street. And meanwhile, oh, these cars are back to forever. Yeah, it's bad. It's true. And the Wi-Fi sucked for Mads yesterday. Mads is very upset about the Wi-Fi. No Wi-Fi. Zero Wi-Fi in the stadium. Oh my God. What happened to this game experience? You must have been having a
07:22heart attack. How many times did you bury yourself in your phone trying to see if the Wi-Fi worked? The whole day. He was mad. I wanted to try to get my fantasy stats to see what's going on. I wanted to watch the baseball. It's true. And Tom's been on the show and has said, we know that fans have the option of staying home, and it's very comfortable for them. So we've got to make the experience good. I'm going to call down the lines. Sounds like Dave Brandon.
07:42I'm going to call the lines today and tell them we've got numerous complaints, including from one Thomas Allen.
07:52Now, I don't think that's the Lions' fault. Isn't that an NFL deal?
07:59But the team needs to be on Tom. Yeah, I suppose.
08:01But Mads has AT&T. Well, that's why. The NFL's blocking you out.
08:05People with Sprint called in. They didn't have it.
08:07It's your beloved NFL, Tom. I don't think so. I think it's the stadium.
08:11I think it's where the NFL's deal with Verizon. I really, really believe that.
08:16I have friends with Verizon. They said they didn't have service.
08:20Friends with Verizon at the game. They sit on the 30-yard line.
08:24Did they go on? Did they try to get on the Wi-Fi? It's open to Verizon.
08:28Only Verizon.
08:31They know how to get on the damn Wi-Fi. It don't work.
08:34Forget the organization.
08:36Well, if that's the kind of product that's going to be put on the field, you might as well stream Netflix or something else.
08:40Or watch some of the baseball tickets. I don't blame you.
08:43Some of the baseball game on your phone?
08:45Yeah. I don't blame you.
08:47That was atrocious yesterday.
08:49That is funny that you'd rather watch a baseball game than a football game.
08:52At the game.
08:53At the game.
08:54I walked out when I hit the 28th point.
08:56Literally, when they crossed the goal line at the 28th point, I got out of my seat and I walked out.
09:00Right.
09:01That's where Golden is wrong.
09:02I mean, sorry, but it's a 4 o'clock game.
09:05Maybe you've got a family.
09:06You've got to get them home.
09:07Get them ready for school and everything the next day.
09:09I don't blame people for leaving.
09:11But I thought you saw him at the beginning of the game.
09:13He looked up and there were...
09:14Yeah, he did say early on there were some empty seats.
09:17But there wasn't.
09:18That place was sold out.
09:19I wondered if people were just late getting in though.
09:21Of course.
09:22First quarter, the Let's Go Lions chant after the touchdown.
09:25It was loud.
09:26It was loud.
09:27When Arizona was backed up on their own one.
09:29It was loud.
09:30People were standing up.
09:31We were on the opposite end zone.
09:32Standing up when they were at the one yard line.
09:35You could hear plenty of boos when the hubs tried to loft it to right and got picked off.
09:40You could hear that through the TV.
09:41How about that great throw to Corey Redding?
09:44What a shot.
09:45The defense knew our plays.
09:47He said, there's a familiar face.
09:49I'll throw it to that guy.
09:50I love the defense.
09:51They knew a screen was coming because that's all they throw.
09:54He could sniff that one out.
09:55But whether he sniffed it out or not, you could see him there.
09:58He was coming.
09:59Right.
10:00You've got to allow it over.
10:01You've got to know that there's a lineman there that will either put his paw up or run
10:03back.
10:04You've got to throw it more toward the sideline so a mirror can go get it.
10:07And just when you think it can't get any worse.
10:08Here's my favorite drive of the day, by the way.
10:10The line six drive in the first half.
10:12Incomplete screen pass.
10:13False start.
10:14Incomplete screen.
10:15Screen to Golden Tate where he just throws it to Arizona so they can go the other way.
10:19Two incomplete screens, a false start, and a turnover.
10:23That's your drive.
10:24Nice drive, idiots.
10:25The screen to Redick was at his feet, wasn't it?
10:30He threw it down.
10:31Probably.
10:32He dropped it.
10:33They couldn't catch it.
10:34It was too low.
10:35They must lead the league, the Lions, and like passes for negative yards or two or three
10:39yards.
10:40It looks like the other team was just waiting there for the throw to the little screen.
10:43Yeah.
10:44All right.
10:45Throw you a little screen.
10:46We'll tackle you for two yards.
10:47Tom, send your positive.
10:48Here's my three positives I already told Drew.
10:50Pettigrew didn't drop the ball until the fourth quarter.
10:52About eight minutes left.
10:53Was he wearing cement hands at that point?
10:55He said, oh, the ball bounced off his hands?
10:57What the hell was that?
10:58Trampoline hands?
10:59What are those?
11:00He actually played a good game.
11:01Yeah.
11:02He actually graded it out okay.
11:03He blocked it out.
11:04Pro Football Focus had him as one of the highest rated players.
11:05And he was blocking.
11:06Come on.
11:07Zach Zenner.
11:08Hey.
11:0910 carries for 30 yards.
11:11Woo!
11:12My other positive was going to be the Theo Riddick package.
11:15Putting up career bets.
11:1610 catches.
11:1710 catches.
11:18You never understand when they use him and then you don't see him for a while.
11:20I mean, he played garbage time, but.
11:22How about the first kick of the game when Amir Abula stepped on the end line?
11:26That should have been the notice right there.
11:27Oh.
11:28That was the beginning of the game.
11:29He caught the ball.
11:30I didn't know it.
11:31He started running except he was his back.
11:32I didn't know until I went home and watched the game again.
11:34Uh-huh.
11:35Because I didn't make it to the first quarter.
11:36Let's go break it down and film this.
11:38That's the first thing that they did?
11:41Is he stepped out of bounds?
11:43Mm-hmm.
11:44Yeah.
11:45By Autolab's spooktacular savings at autolabusa.com.
11:48You're so bad.
11:49I was so embarrassed as a fan yesterday.
11:52Well, Tommy should be used to it by now.
11:54I'm a double-bring ball.
11:55Thank you so much for perfect by now.
11:57Okay!
11:58Now!
11:59Let's do it now!
12:00Now let's do this down.
12:03I'll be out.
12:04And we'll see this down the bottom down in the background.
12:06Okay?
12:07Yeah.
12:08Also uh, we went to here for 10.
12:14We went to the bottom down here.
12:17Alright.
12:18We came to the bottom down here.
12:20That's gonna be the bottom down here.
12:21music-it's gonna be about win my Henry William William William William William Church,
