00:00Today we are taking a visit to Kelvin Grove Art Gallery and Museum, one of Glasgow's best attractions.
00:06I have been here hundreds of times and it never gets old. There's so much in it, over 8,000 objects.
00:12On every visit I learn something new, notice something new and view things with fresh eyes.
00:18I love when big groups of people gather in the centre hall for the live organ recital.
00:22There's something very homely about it, the spirit it initiates feels very Glaswegian.
00:26One of the best things about Kelvin Grove is that it's completely free.
00:31All public museums operated by Glasgow Life are free.
00:34A great thing to do with the family, big groups of people or even just come alone like I have today.
00:39There are a number of exhibits including the Glasgow Boys, a group of rebellious late 19th century Scottish painters who made bold and moody works.
00:48There are Dutch and French masters including Van Gogh, Monet and Rembrandt.
00:52Furniture and designs from renowned Glaswegian, Charles Rennie Mackintosh.
00:57There's a huge natural history section including a taxidermy Indian elephant.
01:04There's arms and armour, ancient Egypt, interactive exhibits all in one building.
01:09It opened in 1901 as part of the Glasgow International Exhibition, a grand red sandstone building with intricate carvings and dramatic finishes.
01:20Some people claim it's back to front but that is in fact a myth.
01:24It was indeed designed to face the park.
01:27When was the last time you visited Kelvin Grove and what did you see there?
