Transcript
00:00Good morning, it's Steph at the Doncaster Free Press and it's Monday, April the 14th, bringing you some of our top headlines this morning.
00:07A piece I put out on Friday has done really well for us over the weekend and is continuing to do so today.
00:12It's from the courts. We had three people who were arrested as part of a covert operation to crack down on the supply of drugs in Doncaster,
00:21who have all been jailed for the roles they played.
00:23Taylor Caddick, Billy Jones and Andrew Walton, they all sold drugs for the Bring and Ring Bolton line,
00:32which operated in Bolton-upon-Durn area of South Yorkshire.
00:35They were all caught in the act of supplying wraps of cocaine, predominantly in Mexborough.
00:42The full story is on the website today. Have a read of that and you can see what they've been up to
00:47and the time they've been sentenced to spend in jail.
00:51Then, another one that was put out back end of last week, again that's doing well for us still today,
00:59it was sent out by our local democracy reporter, Harry Harrison.
01:04He has written a story about the city of Doncaster being set to receive nearly £18 million in government funding
01:10for regeneration products in Doncaster North.
01:13All the details of those projects, which includes a £12.5 million plan to regenerate Mexborough Town Centre,
01:23is all on there this morning, so have a read of that if that's of interest.
01:27And then finally, another one from the police that I put out over the weekend.
01:32Officers' perseverance to detain a driver who failed to stop took him from arrest to prison within 48 hours.
01:41Road policing officers, dog handler and the air service took Doncaster man Nathan Peacock, aged 25,
01:49from dangerous driving to a prison inmate.
01:53He's now seven years behind bars.
01:56He was seen driving an Audi A3 on Wheatley Hall Road in Doncaster just in March this year.
02:04He was believed to have been driven by the A3, excuse me,
02:08the Audi A3 was believed to have been driven by a wanted man and on cloned plates.
02:12He was requested to stop, but he failed to do so.
02:16Peacock drove a contraffort to traffic and at speed.
02:23There's some caught up with him.
02:24He did try to avoid arrest in a number of ways,
02:27so you can read all about him and the time he has been sentenced to in jail.
02:31Also, we will, of course, be updating our website as the day goes on,
02:36and also Facebook and X.
02:39Get in touch if there's anything happening in your area,
02:41and I hope you have a really nice Monday.
