00:00Today, Rupert's Game of Cricket leads him to help Constable Growler in Rupert and the Air Smugglers.
00:16There's a little bear like you've never seen before, who's a lot of fun.
00:23Children everywhere, go to love him more and more, he's the number one.
00:30There's a million stories to be told, all the things that he's done.
00:36And he's gonna share them all with you, so come along.
00:44Rupert, Rupert the Bell, everyone sing his name.
00:51Rupert, Rupert the Bell, everyone come and join.
00:56Rupert, Rupert, Rupert, in all of his name.
01:00There now, those windows look a bit cleaner, don't they, Rupert, says Mr. Bear.
01:13He steps back to admire his handiwork.
01:16Rupert puts down his cloth.
01:18Yes, Daddy, I think Mummy will be pleased.
01:21Let's put these things away, and then we'll all go to the village, and I'll buy you that cricket ball I promised you, Mr. Bear tells Rupert.
01:30Whizzo!
01:30Now, Rupert, don't lose that ball, will you, says Mr. Bear.
01:38Oh, no, Daddy, I'll take great care of it.
01:41Hello, Constable.
01:43Good morning, Mrs. Bear.
01:44You haven't seen any aeroplanes around your part of Nutwood lately, have you, asks Constable Growler.
01:50He tells them that he's had a message from headquarters about a band of air smugglers operating in the area.
01:57That sounds exciting, sir, says Rupert, interested.
02:01I'll look out for them.
02:02That was a good one, Rupert, says Bill.
02:09Oh, yes, it's gone.
02:11Edward stops, because he's seen a small plane up in the sky.
02:17Come on, let's go and find the ball, says Rupert.
02:20We might see the man on the parachute, too.
02:22He landed in the same direction.
02:25They all hurry to the other side of the trees.
02:32It must be around here somewhere, says Rupert, searching hard.
02:37I think it was over this way, says Podgy, looking behind a bush.
02:43Let's look over by these rocks, Rupert, suggests Bill.
02:47I wonder where the man on the parachute went to.
02:51He can't have gone very far away.
02:54What's this, Rupert?
02:57Why, that's the parachute, Bill.
02:59It looks different on the ground, doesn't it?
03:03He must be here somewhere.
03:06Rupert and Bill search among the rocks.
03:09Edward is looking in a bush when...
03:12Help! Help! Help! Help!
03:18Keep still, Podgy, and I'll pull you out.
03:23Oh! Oh! Oh!
03:25Oh! That's better. It was very dark in there, says Podgy, thankfully.
03:33What are you holding, Podgy?
03:36Well, this is Rupert's ball. I found it.
03:39But this piece of rope was in the hole, too.
03:42They both look at the rope and see that it leads back into the rabbit hole.
03:47That's strange. I wonder what it's doing.
03:52Let's pull it and see.
03:56Podgy and Edward pull.
04:00Rupert and Bill are still searching,
04:02when suddenly,
04:04one of the rocks moves up on a hinge.
04:08Bill, look!
04:09The man must have gone down here, Rupert says.
04:13Come on, Bill.
04:14We must see if we can find him.
04:22Oh! Oh!
04:25Oh, I don't think there's any end to this rope, Edward.
04:28I can't...
04:30Well, any more...
04:33No.
04:33We'd better let it go and see where Rupert and Bill are,
04:36because we've found the ball, says Edward.
04:40As they let go of the rope,
04:42the rock starts to close up again.
04:46But Rupert and Bill are still down there.
04:53Rupert, we're shut in, exclaims Bill.
04:56And it looks much too heavy to move.
05:00Let's try, suggests Rupert.
05:03They push and push, but nothing happens.
05:06Oh, no, it's no use, Bill.
05:11Rupert looks around.
05:13Look!
05:15There's a tunnel leading from the bottom of the steps.
05:18And it's not dark.
05:19Someone's left the luck down there.
05:21Come on, let's see where it goes to.
05:23Oh, I don't like it much.
05:32Where it leads, they do not know,
05:35nor what they'll see.
05:36But on they go.
05:37As they're round a corner,
05:42the tunnel opens out into a large cavern.
05:45There's another lamp burning,
05:47and it shows them all sorts of things.
05:50Boxes full of jewels, watches, cameras,
05:53and some packing cases,
05:55which somebody has been busy making.
05:58Look, there's some stairs up there, Rupert.
06:03Bill's anxious to get out.
06:05Yes, we must get back to Constable Growler
06:08and tell him about this.
06:09I think these must be the air smugglers.
06:12Oh, let's hurry, says Bill.
06:16Shh!
06:16I can hear footsteps above us.
06:20They look up
06:21and see that the stairs finish under a trap door,
06:25which is shut.
06:27Oh, it's too high.
06:29We'll never reach it,
06:31exclaims Bill miserably.
06:34We could if we put one of these boxes under it,
06:36says Rupert.
06:37Come on, help me carry it.
06:40Ah, now one end each,
06:42and we'll get it up these stairs,
06:44says Rupert.
06:46Right, here we go.
06:51And they move it to the top.
06:56Shh, quietly.
06:59Phew.
07:01Bill found that exhausting.
07:03Now, I'll climb up first,
07:05then I can help you out.
07:09Rupert can easily reach now.
07:12He pushes up the trap
07:13and sees a man reading a newspaper.
07:23Bill!
07:24The air smuggler is up here.
07:26We'll have to try and get out of the trap
07:27and make a dash for the door.
07:30Carefully, Rupert pushes up the trap
07:33and manages to crawl out.
07:41Oh, it's only the newspaper.
07:52Gotcha!
07:53He pounces on poor Bill.
07:55Bill, but Rupert has gone.
07:58He's run from the door.
08:00We've done it, Bill!
08:01Oh!
08:02He turns round and sees that Bill isn't with him.
08:06Bill!
08:07He calls softly.
08:08He runs back to the window and peeps in.
08:11There he sees poor Bill in the hands of the smuggler.
08:14What should he do?
08:15He looks towards the door
08:17and sees that there's a key on the outside.
08:20He creeps up
08:21and quietly shuts the door
08:23and then turns the key in the lock.
08:27Ah!
08:28Now to find Constable Growler.
08:31Hold on a minute.
08:32A plane, you say?
08:34But, sir,
08:34a man has got Bill
08:35and I've locked them in a hut.
08:38Come on, then.
08:38You can tell me the rest on the way,
08:40says the constable as they hurry along.
08:43Rupert stops suddenly.
08:45Oh!
08:46He might try to get out through the tunnel.
08:48I think we'd better go there first.
08:51Well, if you say so,
08:52says Constable Growler.
08:54But it's not all clear to me yet.
08:56He follows Rupert quickly.
08:59I wonder what's happened to Rupert and Bill,
09:02says Pudgy worriedly.
09:03I don't know.
09:05This is a funny rock.
09:07It keeps making thumping noises and shaking,
09:10says Edward.
09:10Yes, agrees Pudgy.
09:15Ah!
09:16Here's Rupert anyway.
09:18But he's got Constable Growler with him instead of Bill.
09:23Hello, Rupert.
09:24Where have you been?
09:25inquires Pudgy.
09:27We found your ball ages ago.
09:29Never mind that now,
09:31says Rupert.
09:32We've caught an air smuggler
09:33and that sounds like him trying to get out.
09:36What do you mean?
09:38inquires Pudgy.
09:39Well,
09:40that rock
09:41is the secret entrance to a tunnel
09:43and the smuggler
09:45is trying to escape from it.
09:46But with you two sitting on top,
09:48he's having a bit of difficulty.
09:52Edward and Pudgy jump off the rock,
09:55which opens up
09:55to reveal
09:56Bill, the smuggler
09:57and Bill.
10:01Right.
10:02You're under arrest, my man.
10:04And another air smuggler
10:06was caught
10:06as he landed his plane
10:07near Nutwood.
10:10Oh, good.
10:11They must have caught
10:12the other one, too.
10:14Sounds like you've had
10:15a nice game
10:15of cricket, dear.
10:16Rupert, Rupert the Bell,
10:35everyone's singing his name.
10:40Rupert, Rupert the Bell,
10:42everyone's come and joined
10:46in all of his names.
10:49Rupert, Rupert the Bell,
10:53everyone's come and joined
10:56in all of his names.
