00:00President Ferdinand R. Marcos, Jr. led the ceremonial signing of a memorandum order
00:05authorizing the National Amnesty Commission, or NAC, to issue safe conduct passes to qualified amnesty applicants.
00:14Over 2,000 individuals across the country have applied for amnesty this year.
00:19These include
00:20former members of the New People's Army, Moro Islamic Liberation Front,
00:27Moro National Liberation Front, and the Revolutionary Proletarian Army,
00:32many of whom are facing charges related to their political beliefs.
00:36The safe conduct pass will allow eligible applicants to safely access the government's amnesty program
00:42without fear of arrest. The chief executive assured the public that the government is committed to
00:48making the program more accessible to its intended beneficiaries and helping them start anew
00:53through reintegration. In the meantime, the NAC clarified that individuals facing charges
00:59for crimes such as rape or drug-related offenses, as well as those who are currently incarcerated,
01:06are not eligible for the amnesty program.
