00:00This gathering comes at an opportune moment, not only as ASEAN and China celebrate decades of strong ties, but also as our region collectively confronts new challenges and embraces new opportunities, particularly in the ever-evolving information and communications landscape.
00:28In today's interconnected world, communication is more than just the transmission of information. It is the foundation upon which trust, mutual respect and international cooperation are built.
00:42As Minister of Communications, I see first-hand the transformative power of credible media, balanced reporting, and open dialogue in bridging cultural divides and reinforcing our regional identity.
00:57In an age marked by information overload, we must take proactive steps to ensure that accuracy, accountability, and integrity remain at the heart of our media ecosystems.
01:13We must also ensure that false narratives, misinformation, and disinformation do not jeopardize the unity and stability that we have worked so hard to build.
01:25Ladies and gentlemen, ASEAN and China are home to more than 2 billion people, representing a rich tapestry of languages, traditions, and viewpoints.
01:38Our diversity is our strength, but only if we invest in platforms that encourage understanding and promote shared values.
01:47That is why forums such as this are so important.
01:51That is why forums such as this are so important.
01:52They enable us to strengthen regional cooperation in information exchange, journalism training, media ethics, and digital communications capacity building.
02:02I am particularly encouraged to see the growing collaboration between ASEAN and China in digital media development, including joint news production, content sharing, and technical support in emerging areas such as data journalism and cross-border digital broadcasting.
02:22Ladies and gentlemen, looking ahead, I believe we must focus on three key areas to strengthen ASEAN-China cooperation in the communications and media sector.
02:35First, enhancing media literacy and professional development across the region.
02:41We must empower journalists, editors, and content creators with the skills and tools they need to navigate today's complex digital environment with professionalism and purpose.
02:54Second, fostering digital inclusivity.
02:58While technology continues to transform our media industries, we must ensure that innovation is accessible and inclusive, especially for communities in remote and underserved areas.
03:13And third, encouraging more people-centric narratives in our reporting.
03:18As governments and institutions work together on infrastructure and trade, the media must also highlight human stories, stories of cross-cultural friendships, academic exchange, youth collaboration, and community resilience that give life to our regional partnership.
03:48Our countries and businesses will be independent and united 뭐 grandchildren as the peer- 쬐
