00:00Hi there, welcome to the Met Office forecast for the weekend.
00:04It's a weekend of change.
00:06Having seen high pressure for so long, dry and often sunny weather,
00:10that high pressure still with us at first on Friday night, but it is slipping away.
00:15And this weather front sweeping in from the west will introduce much more changeable weather.
00:20Before that arrives, actually, it is a dry start to the weekend, a sunny start for most,
00:25a chill in the air in some places, particularly some low-lying valleys and glens.
00:31However, soon warming up, and then we keep the sunny skies for much of Scotland, central and eastern England.
00:37Further west, the clouds are building into the afternoon, turning the sunshine milky,
00:42and eventually blocking it completely.
00:43Parts of Wales in the southwest will see some showery rain turning up later, making it feel cooler,
00:48but it's still a warm day in the east, 20 or 21 Celsius.
00:52Then this front starts to move in overnight.
00:55It will move its way across the country, bringing a spell of heavy rain for a time.
01:00And we start with that front on Sunday, bringing potentially some heavy rain first thing across eastern parts of the country.
01:08Once it clears through, brighter skies emerge from the west, but with frequent showers,
01:14now that low pressure is starting to move closer.
01:17And with those showers, we'll see some hail and some mountain snow for Scotland,
01:22even some longer spells of rain as well.
01:25And it's going to feel much cooler.
01:27Temperatures of 11 to 13 in the west, still relatively warm in the east,
01:32and that's where it will be mostly dry on Sunday.
01:34Some places will avoid the showers and stay largely bright.
01:37But on Monday, another showery day is expected, again, particularly in the west,
01:42before area of low pressure moves up from the south Monday night and into Tuesday,
01:48bringing not showers, but more widespread wet weather and potential for some very heavy rain across many parts of the UK.
01:57So that's one to watch into Tuesday.
02:00A lot of uncertainty about this system, as is always the case when you're looking four or five days ahead.
02:06But we'll keep you updated on that and all the changing weather elements over the next few days.
