Italian Rome based symphonic prog rock band Metamorfosi formed by the meeting of pop beat band I Frammenti and Sicilian musician and singer Jimmy Spitaleri and debuted in 1972 with the album "...e fu il sesto giorno", a hymn to the Catholic religion. The album's themes were divide in side A and B. In the three tracks of side A there is a strongly religious connotation where the beat mass merges with progressive rock to mix a vocals style ranging from opera to Gregorian chant, while the B side explores the theme of war, opening with the track "Hiroshima" whose allusion is evident, but leaving open in the background a glimmer of possible redemption and forgiveness despite the atrocities committed by human beings.
The music id dark and heavy, large use of keyboards, moog solo grooves, flute interludes, with excellent guitar breaks.
