00:00Watching Antony, who of course is our-
00:03My name is Antony.
00:04Ant-ony.
00:07Him again?
00:08Yes.
00:14My name is Okla Jones, Entertainment Editor with Essence.
00:17Lady and gentlemen, how you doing today?
00:19Hey, my name is Okla Jones.
00:21This must be the best section of our interview segment.
00:24We have all the right people coming in.
00:26What's up, big dog?
00:27Good, talking to the Sutton family today.
00:29Yes, sir.
00:31So, Antony, my first question is for you, my brother.
00:34Your character, Derek, he's used to being in control as a former military medic.
00:38What was it like playing a man who had to stay strong for his family during total chaos?
00:43You know what?
00:44I can't recall a time where I saw a character like this.
00:51Powerful, strong man who's actually the nurturer of the family.
00:55Who's, I shouldn't say allowing, who's married to the President of the United States who runs the world.
01:04And it's my responsibility to run our household without it being in an emasculating way.
01:12So I just thought it was a great role for me to portray and to show that light.
01:17To show that I can stand strong beside, behind my wife, my helpmate.
01:25And also maintain our home in light of everything that's going on within our relationship and the dynamic of the world in which we live.
01:34Marseille, this is your first action film.
01:37What surprised you most about stepping into a high stakes life or death kind of role like this?
01:42I guess the mental toll that it takes.
01:46I think it's a lot and it's very demanding and it's snapping into a life or death situation.
01:55Even though it's not happening in real life.
01:58So I think that was a lot for me as an actor.
02:03But I learned so much and then I've learned so many tips within that.
02:06Like how to control your breathing and, you know, making sure it's like the little things.
02:13Like whether it's the shaking in the hands or even watching Anthony, who of course is our...
02:20My name is Anthony.
02:22Ant-tummy.
02:24Him again?
02:26Yes.
02:28And watching him prep for the role, because he is always like amped up in this film.
02:35And seeing the different techniques, it was really, really interesting.
02:40And that is something that I will always hold is the different key things to kind of get yourself in the moment.
02:49So, yeah, I would definitely say it's the mental toll that it takes.
02:52And also the panic of it all.
02:55DJ Khaled.
02:57Hold the key.
02:59DJ Khaled.
03:01So I'm actually glad you brought up Anthony's preparation process too.
03:04My next question is for you, Christopher.
03:06You worked alongside some major stars in this film.
03:09Specifically your parents though.
03:11What did you learn from watching Viola Davis and Anthony Anderson on set?
03:15I mean, I learned a lot.
03:17But the thing that I like took and ran with, I would say is like their preparation.
03:23I mean, for every scene, they were...
03:25They made sure they were prepared.
03:27And their before moments, I just paid attention to those little things.
03:31And I feel like that's definitely going to help me in my career and my future.
03:35So, Mr. Anderson, back to you, brother.
03:37You and Ms. Davis, y'all have known each other for years.
03:40How do you think your off-screen bond helped shaped you guys' relationship on screen?
03:44I think it played a part in it.
03:47You know, you don't want to give someone an opportunity to work with you
03:53for six months in a completely different country
03:57if you didn't think that you guys were going to vibe
04:01the entire time on and off the screen
04:07or on and off set.
04:08So, you know, we have a great friendship that we've established, you know,
04:14on and off camera over the years,
04:18just in the mutual friends that we have,
04:21the mutual respect for each other's work,
04:24and the mutual respect for each other,
04:26for what we do within our communities and our philanthropy and all of that.
04:31So, I think we were always aligned in that way.
04:33So, when the opportunity presented itself,
04:36you know, she said that she wanted me and I showed up for her.
04:42Well, Anthony, Christopher, Marseille, thank y'all so much.
04:46I really appreciate your time.
04:48It's an amazing film, too.
04:50Thank you, brother.
04:52Have a good day.
