00:00How important was it for you to show a powerful, unified black family on screen?
00:05Always, you know, that's our legacy at Juvie Productions.
00:08It's a part of our legacy to show the broad spectrum of humanity.
00:13And to show that, you know, I've said this story ad nauseum.
00:18You know, my daughter, since she was four or five years old, maybe even younger,
00:24you know, when I would tell her stories at night and I would make them up
00:27and I would make them as elaborate as possible,
00:30there would be slingshots and giants and flying,
00:34and she would always stop me and take her baba out of her mouth,
00:38even like when she was really, really young,
00:40and say, Mama, put me in the story.
00:42I want to be that. I want to be in the story.
00:45We want to be in the story.
00:49We want to...
00:51Our imagination is limitless.
00:55And I want that as part of Juvie's legacy in storytelling,
01:01to always put people of color in the story.
01:05We are a vast people.
01:07And it's who I am.
01:11You know, I feel like it's my job.
01:15My purpose.
01:17Ms. Davis, thank you so much.
01:19I really appreciate this amazing film. Thank you.
