00:00not only is this the final tune-up for the PGA Tour this week at the gasoline tournament,
00:06the Valero Texas Open, down in San Antonio, but it's the final tune-up for the Live Guys as well
00:13down at Miami. Just like last year, they scheduled the Miami stop right before the Masters, and in
00:19fact, Brady was a winner last year. He had the Dean, if I remember correctly, at Miami. So we're
00:24going to try to go back-to-back here for Brady on coast-to-coast. Brady, good to see you as always,
00:30my man. Hey, great to be with you, Mike. Always a pleasure to do some Live Golf Wednesday with
00:36you. And you're right, Miami, where we hit Dean Burmester last year, won that over Sergio Garcia
00:43in a playoff. And both of these golf courses are difficult, where they're playing the Valero,
00:48TPC San Antonio, and Doral, the Blue Monster. I would say the Blue Monster is even more difficult,
00:54but both are really good tests to get you ready for what is, you know, the crown jewel in Augusta
01:00National. I'm looking forward to it. I, you know, we love the Live circuit here, being able to bet
01:05on it and everything like that, but when we play a golf course that we're very familiar with,
01:09like Doral, I really am fired up this week. Yeah, I love it too, Brady, and I think that it's good
01:15for Live. And, you know, we talked a lot about Valero already this week, and I'm going to talk
01:20to you about it tonight, too, on Carver and Lisi. And it's such a weird spot, because you have guys
01:24who are tuning up for Augusta next week, the heavy guys at the top of the board, and then you got,
01:29like, 120 guys who don't have a ticket to the Masters that are trying to win and get in.
01:34Then you flip this to the Live side of things, where you have, yes, a lot of guys who are going
01:38to be playing at Augusta next week, and you have guys who have no shot of being at Augusta next
01:43week. So, interesting mindset here, because you know Brooks, and Rahm, and Bryson, and all these
01:49guys, they're looking to get their game extremely sharp. How are you looking towards Live Miami,
01:54knowing that you have all those Masters guys factoring in? Yeah, it's a great question, Mike,
02:00and Brooks Koepka is a name that I recall from back in the day when he was on the PGA Tour,
02:05and we'd have something like the Valero Texas Open. You knew he didn't care about it. He was
02:10a good bet to miss the cut, because he just went there to get a couple practice swings, and he's
02:14making his way, you know, to Georgia. It feels different, and he has said, he's come out, and he
02:21said, I feel like my game's in a good place right now. He's getting close. I think he is, he said
02:26he's been preparing for a major championship for about the last month. Of course, in Singapore,
02:31he finished runner-up. I actually have a bet on him to win the Masters already at 35-1,
02:38but I think he's not a bad play for this week either, and I have seen some sharp people land
02:43on Koepka. You know, this is a big hitter's track, and that's why we went with the Dean last year,
02:49one of the longest players on the live circuit. 7,700 yards now, Mike, is what Trump Durrell
02:56measures out to, the Blue Monster, redesigned in 2014 by Gil Hance, and they've been adding yardage
03:04really, it seems like, ever since, and now just an absolute beast at 7,700 yards. 12 guys on the
03:11live circuit that are, you know, in the field next week at Augusta. I gotta believe, you know,
03:17the Terrell Hattons and the John Roms and DJ, these guys are trying to fine-tune all the way
03:24up until the last minute, and if they find themselves in the hunt on Saturday or Sunday,
03:29you know, they're gonna try and turn this into a victory. I don't think anybody is out here really
03:34just for a glorified practice round. I think these guys are trying to add another victory to their
03:40resume. Especially when you consider, Brady, that, like, you know, the payout for these things,
03:45it's like Signature. It's more than Signature. Yeah, right. On a PGM tour. That's a big part of
03:50it. It's less guys, and you're getting, like, over four million if you come in first, so
03:55every single live event has such a big prize pool that, of course, like, you know, we talked last
04:01week about Scottie and Rory. You know, if they were in it late Saturday, would they try and win
04:05it? Well, I'd say Scottie tried to win it last week. He was in the mix, and this is the same
04:10deal here. I'm with you. I do like Brooks this week because I don't think it's like a usual,
04:17you know, TPC San Antonio PGA Tour stop. I think that there's, he is so big on being sharp
04:24for these big events. I know I played him here last year. He didn't play well, but
04:28coming off how he played in Singapore, I'm going to go back to Brooks this week
04:32and try to get him through the winner's circle. What about you, Brady? Who do you like?
04:36Well, I started with another very big hitter who has done well as of late, and that's Bryson
04:41DeChambeau. I took DeChambeau at nine to one. I also picked out some correlated courses to Trump
04:47Doral. Harding Park, where they had the 2020 PGA Championship that Colin Murakawa won,
04:54and then Chapultepec, where they used to play the WGC Mexico for about four years.
04:59Those courses do set up similarly to Trump Doral, and DeChambeau was fourth at Harding Park in 2020.
05:07He was runner up in 2020 at the WGC Mexico at Chapultepec. He is third on the live circuit
05:14in driving distance and seventh in accuracy. Seventh at Doral last year, Doral Miami last year.
05:21Sixth at Riyadh to start the year, and then 10th a couple weeks ago in Singapore. So I like
05:27DeChambeau at nine to one as one of the short price guys. Sergio Garcia, got a win with him
05:33a few weeks ago in Hong Kong. I'm going to go back to the well with Sergio. You could argue he's
05:38playing better than anybody else on the live tour right now. Took him at 16 to one. I don't think
05:43he's an awful play at 125 to one to win the Masters. Might do that again the way he's going
05:48right now. But number one in driving accuracy on the live, eighth in greens and regulation,
05:5410th in birdies, fourth in scrambling. He was a monster at Chapultepec back at those WGC Mexico's.
06:01Lost in a playoff here last year to Dean Burmester. And then finally my long shot 30 to one,
06:07another big hitter, Carlos Ortiz. 16th at Chapultepec in 2020. Runner up recently in
06:14Australia at Adelaide. And just a couple weeks ago, won the international series in Macau
06:20to earn himself a spot in the British Open. So a victory, gets himself a spot in the Open.
06:26Good form right now. 17th on live and driving distance, 10th in birdies.
06:32You know, it's funny, Brady. Cause I saw Sergio a couple weeks ago in the one 71 eighties for the
06:39masters. And I was thinking about it. I'm going, you know, he's played real good golf the last
06:45calendar year. We hit him last year in Spain. We hit him a couple weeks ago. We've been good
06:49with Sergio here. Do you think he'll be in the mix next week? He's won there guys that have won
06:56there know that place so well. Do you think Sergio will be around? I think it's the best
07:02golf we've seen him play in at least half a dozen years or more. The problem was Sergio at the
07:08masters. I think it was 2017 that he won. Ever since then he has missed the cut every year,
07:16except for once. And I think he finished 25th or something like that. It wasn't spectacular.
07:22So he's missed the cut like six, seven times in the last eight years or so,
07:27but boy, he's playing good right now. You just wonder, is he going to be able to get that monkey
07:32off his back where he can finally make a cut again, let alone win. It's hard to, you can't
07:37argue the form he's playing as well as anybody in the world. I don't think I'd go so far as to
07:42bet him outright, but I think he'll be on my card next week for a 20 or a 40. I think that I'm going
07:48to find a way just because of how well he's played, especially if he plays well this week
07:52as well and backs it up. Uh, Brady quickly, uh, give me one play for San Antonio for our
07:58coast to coast listeners. And tonight on Carver and Lisa, we'll go through your full card for
08:03the event. You can get it there, but tell us one guy you like for San Antonio.
08:06Well, the shortest shot I took this week, I did not go right to the top of the board with Oberg
08:11or Connors or Fleetwood or Spieth or any of those guys, but I took a crack with Denny McCarthy at
08:1730 to one. This guy lost in a playoff to Batia last year. He's got two additional top twenties
08:23here at TPC, San Antonio. He's already in the field for the masters, but I think he's going
08:28to be focused on trying to get his first PGA tour victory this week. Yeah. I, you let me die. I
08:33think I had him in that playoff last year. Oh, and I've had McCarthy in a couple of playoffs.
08:40He's lost over the past few years. So I would like to see dangerous Denny get involved. I did
08:45play him for a first rounder Brady. Great job as always. I'll see you tonight. Carver and Lisa
08:49Brady will stop by, give his full card for San Antonio. And we'll probably talk a little bit
08:56more live Miami and masters Brady cannon with us on coast to coast.
