00:00Obesity is a complex, chronic, recurrent disease that is linked to almost 200 other comorbidities.
00:11Patients affected by obesity have a much higher risk of encountering cardiovascular diseases, hypertension,
00:18dyslipidemia, diabetes and type 2 diabetes.
00:21It is a complex disease, so it should not be seen with a sense of guilt or as a consequence of wrong life choices.
00:28It is a disease and as such it must be framed and also treated.
00:32The body interprets weight loss as a threat and does everything to try to stop weight loss and even regain weight.
00:41We have neuro-hormonal factors, we have hormones that increase hunger and decrease satiety
00:47and on a metabolic level we have a reduction of energy expenditure.
00:52So the patient finds himself burning less and having more hunger and less satiety.
00:57And these three factors together determine weight loss, which should not be seen as a lack of willpower or guilt,
01:05but as a consequence of biological factors.
