00:00LRT-1 passengers will be allowed to board the train starting on Wednesday.
00:05Jeepneys that did not join the modernization while studying the program have been banned on the road.
00:13Joseph Moro has been informed.
00:18When the April passengers board the LRT-1 trains,
00:23because from April 2, 5 to 10 pesos will be allowed.
00:28That's why the previous minimum fare of 15 pesos will now be 20 pesos.
00:32The final fare from Dr. Santos to Fernando Poe Jr. in Quezon City,
00:37which was 45 pesos, will now be 55 pesos.
00:40The fare will be cheaper compared to stored value tickets or BIP cards.
00:45The Transportation Group tried to appeal to the TAS Singil in Malacanang,
00:49but DOTR and Malacanang said,
00:52The current operations of the LRT-1 are at great risk.
01:00The decision now is to continue with the fare increase.
01:04If I'm not mistaken, it was mentioned that the price should have been high for a long time,
01:10but it was halted for our commuters.
01:13But if we look at the situation, if this is included in the contract,
01:18and it was not fulfilled by the government,
01:23our commuters will have a bigger problem.
01:28According to the Light Rail Manila Corporation or LRMC,
01:31which is a private company that runs the LRT-1,
01:34they were only allowed to increase the fare once since they got the contract in 2014.
01:43Meanwhile, for those who are dependent on jeeps,
01:46there is hope that the prohibition of traditional jeeps,
01:50which are considered as collorum because they did not join the Public Transport Modernization Program or PTMP, will not be completed.
01:56According to Transportation Secretary Vince Dizon,
02:00DOTR and Manibela said that if he's the only one,
02:02he will allow their provisional authority to renew the traditional jeeps while they are still fixing the program.
02:09Secretary Dizon is re-studying the program in a committee he formed
02:14and he is hoping that changes will be implemented here.
02:18DOTR, Office of the Transportation Cooperative, and Land Transportation Office or LTO
02:24were the ones who initiated this.
02:26Why is there no Land Transportation Franchising and Regulatory Board or LTFRB
02:31that will provide franchises?
02:33This does not mean that we will have changes in the LTFRB.
02:37I'm saying that categorically.
02:39It's really fresh eyes.
02:40It's a new perspective, a new perspective of this program
02:45because we admitted that there are a lot of things that need to be fixed.
02:49We are thankful because we asked our Secretary last week,
02:54and he immediately agreed.
02:56So we can say that he's listening.
03:00Manibela's group is hoping that a decision will be made before the Holy Week.
03:04For GMA Integrated News, Joseph Morong.
03:07For 24 Hours.
