A mother has been arrested after her children were found with stab wounds at their home in Sydney’s north-western suburb of Baulkham Hills. Police allege the woman attempted to take her own life and kill her three children. NSW police’s Detective Superintendent Naomi Moore says the incident was ‘unexpected’ as there had been no record of the family’s contact with police for domestic violence.

00:07where emergency services were called to a home at around 5.15am this morning to find
00:13a 47-year-old woman and her three children, including one child who is wheelchair bound,
00:19to be suffering multiple stab wounds.
00:21Now police allege that it was their mother, the 47-year-old woman, who carried out this
00:27incident and it was their 57-year-old father who woke to their screams in the early hours
00:33of the morning.
00:34He seized the weapon that was being used which was a kitchen knife and then called the police.
00:39Now police allege that the mother tried to take her own life and then also kill her three
00:46children.
00:48And when it comes to this family, they're not known to police.
00:52Police say that this was the first time that they have been called to the property or had
00:58contact with the family.
