Police in Sydney have not ruled out domestic violence following the discovery of a woman's body in the city's south west. A 35-year-old man has been arrested in connection with the death.

00:00Officers were called to this street in Belmore in southwest Sydney just before 8 o'clock this morning following reports of concerns for welfare.
00:10When they arrived they found the body of a woman in the apartment complex behind me.
00:14She's yet to be identified but she's believed to be aged in her 30s.
00:18A short time later police arrested a 35-year-old man at an address in Denham Court.
00:24He's currently assisting police with their inquiries.
00:27We know that he has come under the notice of Amarok before and he had a compliance check by Campsie Police only in August where everything was complied with at that time.
00:37Now police haven't yet ruled this as domestic violence related but they also haven't ruled it out.
00:43Police Commissioner Karen Webb was asked about this earlier today and she said it's not yet clear if there were any apprehended violence orders in place.
00:50Local residents we've spoken to say that the woman was well known in the community.
00:55She was a mother of five. Her oldest child was around seven years old.
00:58Her youngest was just six months old and they attended the local primary school here.
01:04Local residents also say that they regularly heard fighting and shouting coming from the apartment complex that the woman lived in.

01:13Shocking, yeah. Terrible. Doesn't normally happen. Anything happened around Belmore itself.
01:23We just heard people saying that there was a murder.
01:25The artist next to us used to come to the shop and she used to be a lovely lady.
01:29The homicide squad has been called in to investigate this issue but investigations will be ongoing for some time to come.
