00:00Having a range of activities that can help soothe the stress and also making sure that
00:16if you're with other people you don't toxify the situation with cabin fever is something
00:21really important. So strategies including things like puzzling, making sure that you've
00:27got lots of colouring activities, making sure that you carry the load with each other when
00:32it comes down to domestic duties, involving yourself in cooking together. These are all
00:36primary bonding experiences. They release lots of really positive chemicals from the
00:41brain and they also increase intimacy. If you're inside for long periods of time, exercising
00:51is going to do a lot of things. It's going to get rid of that horrible adrenaline and
00:54cortisol that builds up when we feel stressed. It's going to relieve those anxious feelings
00:59and it's also going to make you feel a lot more positive because of the serotonin that's
01:02going to be released in your brain. The point is by moving yourself and by really engaging
01:07with that kind of activity, you're automatically going to raise your happiness index but also
01:12you're going to be using the time with purpose. Even though you might not have the access
01:19to a garden for example, make sure that the windows are open, make sure that you're getting
01:22the fresh air in and also just staring outside because the thing about the natural environment
01:28is it has a case of wonder whenever you take time to actually look at it and I think the
01:33more that we actually use this as an opportunity to do those kind of things that really do
01:37reduce tension, the better that will feel. You are inevitably going to get to points
01:41where you have tension with people that you get on with but you're spending too much time
01:45with. So again, try to take a step back when you feel the rise of tension and conflict
01:51and remember, it's not actually about you or the person you're upset with, it's about
01:56the feeling of being trapped.
02:02For some of us, staying in our pyjamas and watching a bumper box set is something that
02:06will help our mental health because genuinely we feel that we're able to disconnect and
02:11relax but it can also be really healthy and really helpful to really try to keep effort
02:16where your self-care is concerned and that's as simple as making sure that if you've got
02:21make-up you maybe pop a little bit on so you remind yourself that you're still in the
02:24game of life. If you're a guy, make sure that you're getting in the shower and just taking
02:29care of your shaving and all the things that you do normally and that's simply because
02:33as human beings, we like our habits. Habits actually make us feel pretty healthy.
02:41The fantastic thing about the Connected Generation is that there are so many things available
02:45to you for free. Whether that's listening to an audiobook with your friends, whether
02:50that's going online and looking at some free lives that people are doing on hypnosis, visualisation,
02:57EFT and all these other associated therapies, connecting with those is going to be really
03:02helpful for your mental health, doing some meditation videos online.
03:07Remember that there are always positive strands to even the most challenging of experiences
03:11and often it's in the most challenging of experience and the most chaotic of times that
03:17we grow the most, we learn the most, we connect the most and we become the people that really
03:21in the end we're happy to have reflections of.
