00:00Hello and welcome to Manchester World, my name is Theo Houston-Betson and today I'm out on the streets of Manchester asking people about analogue technology.
00:06Now even as I talk to you I'm using an iPhone to film this, where previously it would have been a big old hefty shoulder camera.
00:12But more and more we're seeing young people collecting vinyls, collecting cameras, taking shots on old sort of analogue, even wind-up cameras sometimes.
00:19We want to know how important these old material things are to people and why people are leaning towards them and away from digital things like an iPhone.
00:27I have vinyl, I have film cameras, I have all of that because I love it. I love being able to physically hold something and be like wow, you can see it, you can see how it works, you get to be able to get something physical at the end of it.
00:38Like streaming music, it's all great and stuff but when you can actually see how it's been made, you can see it, you can see it going around, you can feel it, you can hear it.
00:44I think so yeah, I think it's a lot of like you want to show a different appreciation for the artist because I personally myself collect albums and stuff and I just feel like it's nice to just have it like a collection.
00:57I feel like people are more open to collecting things these days now.
