00:07Liam Ainslie of Wingate was spotted driving the stolen Citroen near Castle Eden at around
00:128pm on July 3rd last year.
00:15The vehicle was displaying false number plates and failed to stop when traffic officers illuminated
00:19their blue light.
00:20In his attempt to escape, Ainslie reached speeds of more than 130 mph before losing
00:26control when he made a sudden right turn.
00:29Crossing onto the opposite carriageway and mounting the grass verge at high speed, the
00:33vehicle narrowly avoided two oncoming vehicles.
00:37Appearing at Durham Crown Court last week, the 35-year-old was found guilty of aggravated
00:41vehicle taking, dangerous driving, driving without a licence and driving without insurance.
00:48He was given a 12-month prison sentence.
