00:00The management of the Hindu temple of Jalan Masjid India has reportedly agreed to move
00:06to a nearby site.
00:08Dewi Sri Patrakaliaman Temple Committee Secretary Kartik Gunaseelan said the agreement was reached
00:14yesterday following discussions with Kuala Lumpur City Hall, Malaysia Kini reported.
00:18He said the new site was within the area of Jalan Masjid India and was deemed suitable
00:23as a relocation site.
00:25In a press conference today, Federal Territories Minister Zaleha Mustafa said the temple would
00:30be relocated about 50 metres away from its current location.
00:34She said the new location spanned about 4,000 square feet, matching the temple's current
00:38size.
00:39Prime Minister Anwar Ibrahim confirmed that he would be attending the groundbreaking ceremony
00:44on March 27 for the Medani Mosque, which was to be built on the disputed site.
00:55Ayman Dazuki, legal head of Jackal Trading Sindian Berhart, previously said the company
01:13had acquired the land in 2012 and received permission in 2021 to begin constructing a
01:18mosque there, but had delayed the process out of respect for the temple.
