When Baloo meets the pilot Rick Sky, who had vanished twenty years ago. Sky takes the Sea Duck to finish a mission he once had failed. Baloo has to evade air pirates, get the Sea Duck back, and find out who this mysterious pilot really is.
Baloo flies through a storm and reads a comic book based on the historical Great War heroes, Rick Sky and the Squadron of Seven. Unfortunately, he is soon distracted from his distraction by the Air Pirates, and he is forced to take evasive action. He ends up spotting a fellow bear adrift at sea and pulls him aboard. As he becomes acquainted with his curious new passenger, he is forced to take off as the Air Pirates closes in on him yet again.
To Baloo's surprise, the stranger claims to be none other than Rick Sky, who claims to have gotten lost while on a mission to deliver silver as part of the war effort. Baloo informs his passenger that the war ended twenty years ago, and that Sky and his men were thought to have stolen the silver when they disappeared on their last mission. Sky takes the controls of the Sea Duck to evade the pirates, quickly convincing Baloo of the truth of his identity. However, back at Higher for Hire, Rebecca is less convinced, and Sky as an impostor and condemns the "real" Rick Sky as a thief.
Despondent to find himself in a changed world and the reputation of his squadron in ruins, Sky becomes determined to restore the honor of the Squadron of Seven. Unfortunately, he chooses to hijack the Sea Duck, convincing Baloo that he is in fact an impostor. However, after finding Sky's logbook in his jacket, which Sky gave him as a gift earlier, Baloo sets out after him in a jury-rigged airplane put together by Wildcat. He manages to catch up to the Sea Duck just as it's being forced into the hold of the Iron Vulture, and survives both being shot down and having his parachute pulled into one of the giant airship's propellers.
Baloo makes his way aboard through a garbage chute and into Don Karnage's quarters, accidentally knocking out Dumptruck when he arrives with the captain's lunch. Hearing the commotion, Karnage enters with two other pirates, only to find his lunch devoured and Baloo safely away. Crawling through an air vent, Baloo finds Rick Sky in a cell, and quickly confronts the pilot over the theft of the Sea Duck. After a brief argument, the two escape the cell and get their hands on a supply of fireworks that Rebecca had tasked Baloo with hauling.
After radioing Karnage with news of an "attack", Baloo sets off the fireworks to serve as a distraction while he and Sky escape aboard the Sea Duck. He then takes Sky to task again, only to be offered irrefutable proof of the man's identity: Rick's Distinguished Flying Cross. The pair then fly to the White Cliffs of Rover, where Rick ended up on his last mission.
