00:00Scotland's first assisted stretch studio recently opened in Glasgow's West End and we went down to try it out.
00:05Stretched is located on Woodlands Road, offering a service designed to aid in post-workout recovery,
00:10help clients heal and relax, improve flexibility and relieve aches and pains.
00:14It's for all age groups and fitness levels.
00:17Offering 25 and 50 minute sessions, anyone can book in and have a full body stretch by a professionally trained stretcher.
00:23The sessions were designed by the studio's founder Craig McHugh, a physiotherapist with over 20 years experience in healthcare.
00:30He told us there was a gap in the market.
00:32Many of his physio clients who were nearing the end of their sessions and perhaps didn't need full physio anymore,
00:37were looking for methods to upkeep their mobility and improve flexibility.
00:41And this is his solution.
00:42So the session starts off in the functional movement lab.
00:45You go in and a piece of technology analyses your body as you perform a couple of exercises.
00:50It's all very easy, nothing too intense and provides instant information on your ability and what parts of your body are the tightest.
00:57Your assisted stretcher then uses this to inform their stretch, which is then carried out in the room next door.
01:02For me, this was deeply mentally relaxing.
01:04Our model here, Euan, he performs his own stretches every day and he mentioned how there's parts of his body he felt relief in that he never consciously thought of before.
01:12As part of his work, he has to sit in a car or travel for extended periods of time
01:17and the assisted stretcher instantly knew this and catered the treatment accordingly.
01:21After the stretch, we went downstairs to use infrared sauna and ice plunge baths.
01:26The sauna is lovely, it heats you from the inside, so it's not too overbearing to sit in for long periods of time.
01:31I think this is a fantastic addition to Glasgow's wellness scene.
01:34I could feel the benefits in days after.
