00:00The vicious leg of a fact-checking and online verification training among state-run media outlets
00:06recently concluded in Tagbilaran City, Bohol.
00:10Alex Lumake from the Philippine Information Agency, Capiz, has more.
00:17The series of training through the collaboration of the Presidential Communications Office
00:21and Verifiles, an independent non-profit media organization
00:25focused on equipping fact-checkers with the necessary skills to navigate complex information issues,
00:31fostering resilience against misinformation in the digital age.
00:55All these lies and falsehoods are going around.
00:58It's not bad for our daily lives.
01:03And it's really number one for our democracy, right?
01:06Tordesillas noted that Verifiles, a signatory to the International Fact-Checking Network,
01:11did not receive any monetary compensation for conducting the training sessions.
01:16The two-day activity was attended by the designated fact-check officers
01:20from the Philippine Information Agency, People's Television Network, Inc.,
01:25Presidential Broadcast Service, Intercontinental Broadcasting Corporation, and Philippine News Agency.
01:31Meanwhile, PCO Senior Undersecretary for Digital Media Service, Emerald Ridao,
01:36conveyed her appreciation and gratitude to Verifiles
01:39for sharing its best practices among state media practitioners.
01:43The partnership marks a significant step in strengthening a transparent and independent
01:47fact-checking mechanism within state media.
01:50It also aligns with the government's ongoing
01:53Maging Mapanuri campaign to promote media literacy and combat information disorder.
01:58From the Philippine Information Agency, Capiz, Alex Lumake, for Balitang Pambansa.
