An illicit operation processing electronic waste (e-waste) concealed behind a scrap goods business has been uncovered after the marine police force (PPM) Region 1 seized various equipment, including scheduled waste items valued at RM33.18mil, in a raid at the Meru Industrial Park, Kapar, on Thursday (March 6), Malay language daily Sinar Harian reports.

00:36of a 30-year-old local man.
00:39Initial investigations revealed that the factory was licensed only for scrap processing, not
00:45e-waste handling.
00:47An inspection uncovered waste materials classified as scheduled waste under the first schedule
00:53of the Environmental Quality Scheduled Wastes Regulations 2005.
00:59Authorities also seized three forklifts, two weighing machines, a lorry, an e-waste machine,
01:05a dewatering machine, and three conveyor machines.
01:09ACP Rusli said the confiscated items had been handed over to the Selangor DOE for further
01:15investigation.
01:16The processed e-waste was found to have been sourced from abroad, with the factory operating
01:21under the guise of a scrap processing business.
01:24Meanwhile, efforts are ongoing to track down the premises owner, believed to be a local.
