00:24The Philippines and Japan are expected to meet after President Ferdinand R. Marcos Jr. and Japan Defense Minister Nakatani Gen met.
00:32The two leaders discussed the strengthening of the relationship between the Philippines and Japan
00:38and discussed the upcoming changes in the region.
00:43Japan and the Philippines have worked closely for so many decades now.
00:48I'm sure that we will find many much common ground to build further in the region.
00:58Minister Gen shared the visit to Basa Air Base in Pampanga and Wally's Air Station in La Union.
01:06It's a positive official that the maritime cooperation between the Philippines and Japan is continuing.
01:12I was able to observe with my eyes the surveillance radar system which was transferred by the Japanese government.
01:23Japan is one of the strategic partners of the Philippines.
01:27The two countries have 264 bilateral agreements
01:32which are based on providing defense equipment, technology, infrastructure, and infrastructure in Mindanao.
01:41Japan is also providing education and training to the Philippines.
01:47The Philippines has received assistance for the establishment of the AFP, which is far-reaching security cooperation.
01:55Japan supports the Philippines' commitment to comply with international law,
02:00such as the United Nations Convention on the Law of the Sea.
02:04The two countries are also pushing for broad cooperation between other countries
02:10to stop tensions in the West Philippine Sea.
02:14This is aimed at a peaceful resolution of the issues
02:18while strengthening their defense and security capabilities.
02:23The Philippines and Japan are co-chairing the ASEAN Defense Ministers' Meeting Plus Maritime Security for 2024-2027
02:33which is based on the role of the naval forces in strengthening the blue economy
02:38and countering the effects of climate change.
02:41The two countries have established 68 years of diplomatic relations as of 2025.
