The heaviest and most persistent rain will be over western hills, with some very high accumulations in Wales through today. 00:00Good afternoon. Well, after a brief sign of spring yesterday, it's turned downhill once
00:05again with heavy spells of rain and strong winds. Taking a look at the latest satellite
00:10and radar imagery then, we can see this big swirl of cloud associated with this area of
00:15low pressure. And putting on the ice bars, you can see that real squeeze in the ice bars
00:20indicating some very strong winds and heavy spells of rain already moving through across
00:25western areas. So, through the rest of the afternoon, there are rain and wind warnings
00:30in force, so do take care if you're travelling. Heaviest and most persistent rain will be
00:34across western hills, so north-western England into Wales and south-west England. And later,
00:41we have an amber rain warning that comes into force across southern parts of Wales. We could
00:46see totals of 80 to possibly 100 millimetres, so this could lead to surface water flooding,
00:52river flooding, but also some difficult driving conditions and some disruption on the roads.
00:59Behind this band of rain though, it will turn a little bit brighter across parts of Northern
01:03Ireland and Scotland with sunny spells, but also some frequent blustery showers moving
01:08through. However, we still hold on to this south and south-westerly wind, drawing up
01:14mild air, so temperatures, even though 10 to 12 degrees, actually probably feeling pretty
01:20unpleasant underneath all this cloud and rain. So, as we go through Sunday evening,
01:26like I mentioned, do take care on the roads. There could be some difficult driving conditions
01:30out there and some disruption. This band of rain then gradually starts clearing its way
01:34eastwards, but lingering the longest across southern parts of Wales. Behind that, Northern
01:40Ireland seeing clear spells, likewise for parts of Scotland, with some showers moving
01:45through here. So, a little bit cooler across Northern Ireland and Scotland, but further
01:51towards England and Wales, generally temperatures holding up at around 8 or 9 degrees. So, a
01:56mild start to Monday morning, but a damp and dreary start out there, still with heavy spells
02:03of rain, but that band of rain will continue to move its way eastwards. Then it will turn
02:08drier behind that, with sunnier spells developing, but we'll also see some frequent showers moving
02:14in, especially across the southern parts of England, into London and East Anglia. But
02:19the most frequent and heaviest of those showers will be across Northern Ireland and parts
02:24of Scotland, where they could contain the odd rumble of thunder. But otherwise, the
02:30winds will ease for most of us tomorrow, so actually it should be feeling pleasant in
02:34the sunshine. We could see highs up to 12 to even 14 degrees in the south and east.
02:42So as we go through Monday evening, any showers across eastern areas will generally ease and
02:46clear, so a clear night to come here. But further towards the west, we'll start to see
02:50further showers moving through, still on the heavy side, and still holding on to some blustery
02:55winds across north-western parts of Scotland. That's all from me for now though, but do
03:01keep up to date by following us on social media, so you can keep up to date with any
03:05warnings. I'll see you soon. Bye bye.
