Things were going so well for the Sox!... Devers does not want to move from 3B. Should Red Sox play Bregman at 3rd, or leave Devers at the hot corner? #MLB

00:00and Devers situation shakes out over the next couple of days and uh and and uh how that is
00:07dealt with by that organization when we are down there next week you guys could like make t-shirts
00:12team team Bregman team Devers yeah yeah you know like when a celebrity couple breaks up yeah
00:19I isn't it like team Bregman because like you said Bregman's a gold glove winner well maybe
00:24that would send a quiet message we'll give you a shot Devers like no one's gonna we're not gonna
00:30hey he's gonna have to earn it Bregman that's how you that's the way the world of sports works
00:35basically was trying to say he's not going to DH like I don't think he has an option like I mean
00:41short of not playing right which he's not gonna do I don't I like I mean what's his leverage
00:48he doesn't have it I don't think he has any does he have any leverage I don't think so I don't
00:51think so oh you just maybe they maybe other than the you know the pissy face what's he gonna do
00:57get up there and hit you know when he was alluding to the fact that you can't trust the
01:02Red Sox like he he took them at their word and he can't trust them it's not in writing that he is
01:08the that he is he is the third baseman of all time I it's just a I'm guessing a handshake that he and
01:16Haim Bloom had yeah like we don't plan on bringing in another third baseman you're the guy but who
01:23they they I mean obviously they probably didn't know in a couple years they'd be going after
01:27Bregman and so that's why that opportunity is opened up for another guy to play the position
01:32I mean he's 28 years old he's been in the majors for a long time now right he's seen other guys
01:40situations change I don't understand why it's such a seems to be coming as a shock to him when
01:47he says they told me something years ago when I signed my extension now that guy's not here anymore
01:54in Haim Bloom and my own manager right is who knows me well is saying Haim Bloom's not here
02:00anymore so it's not the same situation and he it just doesn't seem to compute for him and Mego
02:06that's an excellent point because his homeboy one of his good friends who was to the left of them
02:11then the Bogots went through with the same thing with Travis Story yeah and they brought Travis
02:14Story and it was like ultimately to be the replacement at shortstop for Xander and maybe he
02:20was going to move to second base there was that whole conversation so like you've been in the
02:24league long enough to know like if they can get an upgrade and they can move you then they're going
02:30to do that and when I say move you move you in another position not trade you or anything like
02:35that uh texter on the Subaru of New England text line says you're all capped this morning
02:42if Bill Belichick had told you that you needed to move from tight end and play a position that you
02:49didn't necessarily want to play you'd be acting the same no I'd be playing that other position
02:53what if it was easier an easier position special teams receiver yeah wouldn't have mattered but
03:01you know in the world of sports like especially baseball is a little unique because in football
03:07it's like all right we might have somebody better than you so they're getting more playing time than
03:11you so then it's like all right well then cut me or trade me send me someplace else so I can play
03:15but in the world of baseball you're still getting your at-bats you're just not fielding and if Bill
03:20says hey we're going to move you to another position you see it all the time with Julian
03:24Edelman you ain't gonna play quarterback you're gonna have to play this you're gonna have to play
03:27that you either do that or you get cut yeah this is Walter from Boston hello Walter yeah it's just
03:35it's just funny to me because I heard them guys in the last few years saying how they just want
03:39to be better and all these things and it's about team right and it's like if this guy sees he's a
03:45pro he knows that guy's better than him at defense I know it's ego but you could like what he said
03:50you're still playing every day but like so to me if Devis doesn't do this it drops him way on my
03:57you know red shot guy list because this this is supposed to be for the team you want to win a chip
04:02you don't want to suck in every you know third base well yeah I mean listen I don't think he's
04:06gonna have any say in the matter the the question because the question becomes is he a a wine bag
04:14all season about it like yeah real quick another trade pick for the for the pass is Kristen Kirk
04:20for a third round one of them third round picks he'll be great in Josh's system Kristen Kirk for
04:26my jacket yeah I mean I they have got to find a free aid a legit free agent wide receiver
04:35problem is it's not okay if the against is not going to be well then you got to shake somebody
04:39like Mego said you got to hit the trade market that's going to be your biggest that's going to
04:43be the most important thing for you is what type of player you are in the trade market because
04:49that's where you're probably going to get some of your best players whether it's a wide receiver
04:53we've talked about the edge rushing position whether it's uh Myles Garrett or Michael Parsons
04:59like you're better players you're going to get from you being aggressive in the trade market
05:03and it's really going to come down to Cora right it's whether or not Cora has the cojones to say
05:08Devers guess what you're dhing that's what's going to make the team better or there's Cora go
05:14oh no I think he has he has the balls to do that so then it shouldn't even be a conversation
05:20you don't question that when it comes to Alex Cora do you
05:23no not at all I I think that also Bregman is Bregman's his guy
05:27Bregman's his guy and you know but I just I think that Devers reacted this way because this is his
05:36only way to fight against it on the field he's not in the same league defensively and the fan base
05:43and the entire organization invested in him in over 300 million guaranteed dollars you either
05:50want to win and be a part of the best team possible or you want to be selfish and being
05:55selfish is not sustainable so all the Red Sox have to do is allow them to make these you know
06:01frustrated public comments and then just eventually it'll all settle I believe no you got you got your
06:08big deal right like you got paid right so do what's best for the team when it comes to winning
06:13I will say Jen McCaffrey from the Athletic New York Times yesterday she was in on the
06:20conversations that Rafi was having through his interpreter and she tweeted this she said asked
06:25if he'd wanted to be traded if the team decides Bregman is at third through his translator Devers
06:32said quote that's a tough answer to give I haven't given it much thought I've been here my entire
06:39career I haven't asked myself that question I'm open to listening I'm not close to those
06:46conversations I don't understand why this is the hill that he wants to die on because you're
06:52saying selfish and has he seen himself play third base right it's one thing to be selfish if you feel
06:59like you're the best player for the position but you're being selfish over uh you're a below average
07:05field like why why so what's the importance of you just the fact that you get to go be on the field
07:13I guess it's a pride thing like it's a it's a it's gotta be it's gotta be like what's the pride
07:19thing what I don't get like the so the pride thing is that he still gets every at bat he's just
07:25sitting in the dugout when everybody else he doesn't want to be replaceable he doesn't want
07:29yeah he doesn't want to publicly he has a massive contract how is that not enough security
07:34like it's not about security though it's not about security it's that last off season this
07:39organization begged and pleaded offered everything said you're our future you're our cornerstone
07:45player please sign this extension and then a year later he's being booted to off third base and he's
07:52reacting this way that's why I mean it's just the organization did everything because they knew
07:57Devers had to stay if they lost Bogarts and Devers there would have been a revolt so Devers is
08:02approaching this saying hey guys I signed here when nobody else would you promised me these
08:08things and all of a sudden I have to leave third base I mean I don't agree with them but that's
08:11where he's coming from
