The race for the Republican Presidential race in the US is all but over. With his win over Nikki Haley in the New Hampshire primary, Donald Trump has further strengthened his hold on the party and barring any shock legal setbacks over the next few months, it looks like a Trump vs Biden contest is on the cards this November.

00:00Donald Trump's victory in New Hampshire is significant because now it puts him in
00:08poll position to take on Joe Biden in November. Nikki Haley is putting up a brave front, but
00:14the question really now is, when is she going to drop out of the race, not if. There is
00:19growing pressure on her to step aside and let Trump take the lead. So barring any short
00:24legal setbacks, it very much looks like a Trump versus Biden battle. However, there
00:28were some warning signs for Trump as well in New Hampshire, because exit polls showed
00:33that the more moderate voters voted overwhelmingly for Nikki Haley, not for Trump. And many of
00:39the more moderate liberal voters are going to be a key demographic in the November election.
00:45One exit poll by Edison Research says that about 35% of voters are in that category,
00:51and they are the ones that Trump really needs to address. His cause support base is with
00:55him, they are overwhelmingly with him. 80% of them believe that the election in 2020
01:00was stolen from him and that Biden didn't win it legitimately. But it is that more moderate
01:06Republican base that he has to try and win over. And statistics so far indicate that
01:11that is going to be tough for him. The other issue is on abortion rights with Joe Biden
01:16has made a big centrepiece of his campaign already. Because again, exit poll data shows
01:22that even amongst those who voted in the Republican primary, those who are college
01:27educated women in particular, they're not big fans of Trump. And many of them are against
01:31the abortion bans that have played out in the US over the last year or so. So this could
01:36be a key issue that could work in Biden's favour. Despite these warning signs, however,
01:42Trump is clearly the overwhelming Republican favourite to take on Biden. It just remains
01:46to be seen how it plays out.
