00:00Yesterday, the first-ever monthly kickboxing showdown of Samahang Kickboxing ng Pilipinas was held in Tagaytay City.

00:08For the details, here is the report of my teammate, Paolo Salamatin.

00:15Samahang Kickboxing ng Pilipinas officially opened their first kickboxing showdown

00:20that was held yesterday at SKP National Headquarters in Tagaytay City.

00:24The match-up between the national kickboxers and the elite members of their respective clubs was very intense.

00:30Aside from the promising athletes and coaches who served as technical officials in the tournament,

00:37the event was even more interesting because the 2020 Tokyo Olympic Silver Medalist

00:44and 2024 Paris Olympic Bronze Medalist, Nesty Petesho, were also present.

00:48One of the coaches of SKP, Brian Olud, was also present.

00:52This type of tournament is part of their grassroots program.

00:57Our grassroots is very important because if we don't have a grassroots program,

01:02we won't be able to get or earn hidden talents, especially in remote areas.

01:08Especially in the coming months, we will have visitors from Visayas and Mindanao.

01:18So, it will be nationwide.

01:21Aside from the discovery of new free athletes who can join the national team,

01:26the competition is also crucial for the members of the national team

01:31because it is also a basis for the coaches to decide if the athlete should stay in their club.

01:37Aside from this, it is also one of the selection events of SKP

01:42for the athletes who will be sent to the South East Asian Games in December in Thailand.
