Gulf News caught up with lady professional Zenia Wivou at MyGolf Dubai about her decision to take a break from tournament golf and take a series of some serious golf lessons with Stephen Hong, Academy Director at MyGolf Dubai.

00:00Since June, I withdrew from a few of the tournaments from the Ladies European Tour Access Series,
00:09and I was having a few shots here and there at my golf, and I just couldn't feel anything.
00:15So I kind of knew, okay, there's something not right, and I wasn't really ready.
00:20Hey, Steven.
00:22Hi.
00:23How are you?
00:25Fine.
00:26Thanks.
00:27I didn't feel 100%.
00:32I mean, I had no problem with striking the ball, but I just didn't feel any connection
00:35between my swing and the ball itself, and I think that's where I lost myself quite a bit.
00:42Pretty good.
00:43I just had a few things that I wanted to work on with you today.
00:46That's fine.
00:47Be careful.
00:49And so when I was around and I met Steven Hong from MyGolfDubai, I started getting a bit curious
00:56as to the stats and certain things with my golf swing and getting a precise distance.
01:02And so we started working together, and then I realized, okay, there was a lot that I'm
01:07missing from my game.
01:08So I took a step back, start again, start from zero.
01:12I want to see a little bit more of this.
01:15Okay.
01:16See, I've been having a problem with releasing the club, and that hinge you just showed me
01:21right now.
01:22Right.
01:23So this is the part that's been missing.
01:24I had a chance to play a game with Xenia on the golf zone, and during the game, Xenia
01:30came, started asking, like, why are you doing that, and why am I not doing that?
01:36And then from that on, I think everything clicked.
01:40Go easy at a very, very slow speed.
01:47So much better strike.
01:48Oh, wow.
01:49Right?
01:51Distance increases straight away.
01:53Right.
01:54We started sharing our expertise.
01:55We started sharing what is her feeling versus what is my feeling, and things clicked from
02:01there.
02:02Turn a little bit.
02:04A bit more.

02:07And swing through.
02:09Yes.
02:10So we got to be very relaxed in this area.

02:15He kind of just brought the feeling back into my game, and it's a little bit hard to explain,
02:20but the best way to do it is he tried to kind of break down the whole golf concept of human
02:25logic and golf logic.
02:27Upswing.
02:28I have a good bodyweight transfer.
02:30My arms are relaxed at this point.
02:32From here, the hand and the shoulder remains, and the shoulder and the hip coming into the
02:39ball together instead of...
02:43Okay.
02:44Right?
02:45So they all work together.
02:46Right.
02:47Feel the four points.
02:48One, two, three, four.
02:51Returning back at the same time.
02:56I started to kind of pick up on things where it was my equipment and not me, or it was
03:01a few things in my swing.
03:03So just because he put those things back into my game and I started to feel it again, I
03:08was like, okay, that's it.
03:10I'm all for him.
03:13Perfect.
03:14See, that is the perfect strike.
03:17And that perfect strike is coming from the shoulders, the hip, your arms, and your clubhead
03:22together.
03:25See?
03:26The impact is now so different from where you were just now.
03:30Right?
03:31This impact are the ones that actually takes the ball first and a divot after that.
03:35Yeah.
03:36Right?
03:37So these are the ones that gives you the perfect control.
03:38Since then, we've been working on how to get a perfect strike.
03:43So Xenia is now getting better results with her ball striking, better results in her ball
03:49control, ball flight.
03:50And she's able to call the shots, landing the ball at a certain point and having the
03:55end results under her control.
03:56Spin back, whether it's a forward run, instant stop.
04:00So we took all this from golf zone into the actual golf course and the results were absolutely
04:06100% there.
04:07So this is where her confidence is now at peak form.
04:12And I'm very happy to see all these changes that is happening with her.
04:16Whenever you have problem with your grip, start off with gripping it here and feel that
04:20it's so comfortable.
04:21And when you come back here, oh my goodness, this is awkward.
04:24This is something that I think both of us can work together and is able to get on to
04:30the right chemistry to continue a relationship from here to help each other to get better.
04:39Perfect.
04:40That is a good, solid impact.
04:42Right?
04:43So now I need your body weight transfer.
04:45Since I've taken the next four months just to kind of reset, recollect and find myself
04:51again in golf, I've put a goal in just to head out to the Lady Sunshine Tour at the
04:55beginning of February.
04:56My name has also been put in the ISPS Handa Tournament in Melbourne at the end of November.
05:01But I'm also going to Fiji as well during December just to play golf.
05:05There's a few tournaments that are going, they're just a bit more social.
05:08But just get into the field over there and see my family again after four years.
05:12So it'll be pretty good.

05:19This is driving the ball with your body and not with your arms.
