00:00Dangua was a provincial bus line originally headquartered in Pine City and ran a Baguio City, Manila route.
00:07Its terminal in Baguio soon turned into the most popular flower shop in Baguio and Manila.
00:13And it has drawn customers from all over and then some to include the First Lady Imelda Marcos back in her time.
00:20Our Christian Vascones narrates the history of Dangua and more in this feature report.
00:26Heavy traffic with tons of flower buyers had gone today to the flower market capital which is Dangua.
00:32A lot are asking why Dangua is the public's favorite marketplace for flowers despite the congestion on every occasion where flowers are on trend like Valentine's Day.
00:41Dangua got its name from Dangua Tranco or Transportation Company which is owned by the late Benguet Governor Bado Dangua.
00:48The route that Dangua buses travel is from Baguio to Manila and vice versa since the late 70s when vendors started selling flowers that came from Baguio and soon got popular in Manila.
00:59Adding to its popularity is when the former First Lady Imelda Marcos was the number one customer who bought an array of bouquets, an ornate arrangement for display and decor in Malacanang Palace.
01:10Now it has been a mecca for flowers on Valentine's Day when people of all ages and from all over the megacity congregate like he and who bought flowers for his ex hoping for a second chance.
01:21I just want him to know that I feel really safe in his arms and that I'm happy with him.
01:50I'm happy with him and grateful that he's with me.
01:53Yeah, I just got him flowers. Yeah, it's a surprise.
01:56But Kara prefers practicality and would rather have cash than stems and petals.
02:01For me, I don't think so because if it's just practicality, you'll just break it.
02:07Meanwhile, some people believe that Valentine's Day is not about surprises or gift giving but more about spending time with loved ones.
02:16This is Christian Vascones from PTV Manila for a new and better Philippines.
