00:00A Dubai resident has received the region's first fully 3D-printed prosthetic leg.
00:12The innovation could soon slash in half prices of costly conventional prosthetics.
00:17Belinda Gatland, a British expat, opted to have the leg amputated after nine fruitless
00:22operations at the age of 40.
00:24The prosthetic leg was made in Germany and Bulgaria in separate parts and fitted in Dubai.
00:29In a move to avoid any VAT-related costs, local developers with existing projects are
00:34already placing orders on building materials.
00:37By receiving the goods before the year-end, such developers will not have to factor in
00:41the 5% value-added tax that will come into effect from 2018.
00:45A similar trend has been seen among projects that are only at the beginning stage, said
00:49Mohammad Mustafa, managing director of M Square Engineering Consultants.
00:54Actress Chloe Grace Moretz and the creators of her upcoming animated film have apologised
00:59after promotional materials were criticised of body-shaming women.
01:0320-year-old Moretz wrote on Twitter that she had talked to producers for the film Red Shoes
01:09and the Seven Dwarfs about the marketing choices.
01:11It included a billboard at the Cannes Film Festival showing a tall, thin woman in red
01:16heels next to a shorter, heavier version of herself holding her heels.
01:20The film has no release date.
01:22Finally, the weather.
01:23Today's high across the UAE will be 40 degrees Celsius, dropping to 28 degrees at night.
01:28That's all for now.
01:29Thanks for watching.
