00:00Shopping is a core part of Dubai's identity and one of the main leisure activities to take part in throughout the year.
00:07Dubai usually hosts two major shopping events annually, the Dubai Summer Surprises and the Dubai Shopping Festival.
00:15This year's Summer Surprises is a very special one, however.
00:18It's the first major event in the city since the COVID-19 outbreak,
00:23so in a way, the sales signs and the malls returning back to 100% capacity is a symbol of life getting almost back to normal in Dubai.
00:32Well, I'm visiting the country and my friend is a local friend and he showed me Dubai and Dubai Mall, obviously.
00:39I bought a keyboard cover and we're just browsing and checking around.
00:43So today I chose to come here instead of online shopping because always with the online shopping you have to wait for a few days
00:50until you receive whatever you bought.
00:53So here you just come and buy and then I'm meeting up also with a few friends.
00:57We're just doing some shopping and we're going to get a coffee, right, at Starbucks.
01:03Yeah, it makes a change from being at home all the time.
01:06I'm a student who recently graduated, so during this lockdown I graduated,
01:12so I never really had a chance to have a graduation or enjoy with my friends.
01:16So coming out here in the mall just gave me a chance to explore my lifestyle after COVID-19 and also hang out with my friends for a while.
