00:00Imarati director Ali Mustafa and the cast of his latest feature The Worthy graced a

00:12red carpet gala event at Dubai International Film Festival on Friday evening.

00:17The Worthy is an end-of-day tale where much of the world's water supply has been contaminated.

00:22Two infiltrators move into a community next to one of the few remaining clean water sources.

00:28The two are tested for their survival instincts in a deadly game where one of them will be

00:32chosen worthy.

00:33The film is about a post-apocalyptic world set in Arabia, so for us to have all of these

00:39different nationalities come together and live in this shelter as one was great.

00:45The post-apocalyptic thriller marks Mustafa's first action film and sees him re-team with

00:50several of his previous collaborators including actor Ali Sulaiman.

00:54It's high quality of equipment, we have ensemble, great direction, it's really going to be a

01:05good movie.

01:06We've been working on this so hard and we shot it last year and now, you know, seeing

01:12it coming together is very interesting and very, you know, you feel, yeah, excited.

01:20I played the Musa's role, the serial killer, the bad guy in the movie.

01:25I didn't watch the movie until now so I hope I'm very excited actually.

01:31Hollywood actor Tyrese Gibson also walked the red carpet to support the Emirati director.

01:36One of the first people I met when I first came here to Dubai and, you know, I think

01:4210 or 15 years from now when they look back on cinema and Hollywood, as far as filmmakers,

01:49directors, writers, producers, they're going to think of Ali Mustafa for dealing with the

01:56controversy and doing whatever he had to do to have his creative voice heard.

02:02I'm super excited to support my colleague and, you know, filmmaker Ali Mustafa.

02:06We have watched each other's career develop over the years so it's a very proud moment

02:10for me to be here.

02:11The Worthy is scheduled to be released on February 16 next year.
